honestly man you should find the band animals as leaders and talk to them and show them some of your videos and try to play with them because you would be so perfect for them you sound just like they do same type of rythm and everything i would love to see you play with them because then that band would be even so much better more so then they already are which i thought could be impossible
Hi. You sound awesome. You have a very unique melodic brain. There are melodies in that song that were so original and abstract, I'd be challenged to find anything like it. I just recently bought an 8-string guitar in the hopes that I could start playing some stuff like this. Could you point me in the direction of where I could start? Please and thank you.
@trevorftard Thank you, my new friend, for the amazingly kind words. It means a lot to me...
Congrats on the new guitar!! The extended range instrument world is such an awesome place. I still play my four string. I actually play it WAY more often than I do my 12. I use both equally in my solo sets though =)
I'm not really sure where you can start. I don't really know what I am doing but I do teach techniques on a site called BandHappy. I was just about to open lessons to guitar players d-_-b
@TheDrumer1995 Dude!! Thank you. I can't wait to put up a legit version of this song for you... This was probably the day after I finished gather all the techniques for it and wasn't really comfortable with it at all. It sounds pretty different now. It's one of the bigger songs of my set =)
@ShinigamiKusajika I see your point about distinguishing yourself, but if you strive to be as far from Baudin's style as possible, his influence on you is almost the same as if you were listening to him constantly. delay and loops are tools to be used. don't let someone els's use of them stop you from taking advantage of them. that aside, I'm digging the music. you've sold a CD here.
@intelliphiliac Fair to say, my friend. That is an incredibly clear and wonderfully impressive point you've made. I will truly take it to heart. Also, it's funny because I had been looking into a really awesome delay pedal but I am not going to buy until after I finish my next bass but this thing will become just as much part of my arsenal as all my other effects and I will still continue to press on and find my space in music. Thank you for the inspiring words.
Once again, the depth in your creativity is brilliant. I do have a question. Do you use the foundations of music theory when you compose or do you allow the wavelengths to just flow ? For myself it's both.
@HarmonicMasterpiece Thank you so much for your amazingly kind words. I will never be able to describe how much I appreciate it.
I have know knowledge of what I'm doing. Honest and true, I just pick up my bass and I play until songs come out. I'm normally in search for a new technique or something that I can't already do and write pieces around that. It's the most common my ways of writing,
Jean Baudin (considered one of the best ER bassists) is also a metal bassist with a solo thing going on similar to yours. Is he your inspiration? By the way, I am interested in the CD, so sometime in the next few weeks I'll inbox you on FB or something, if I remember :P
@Iliketacos091 Honest and true, not even a little bit. He is the first person that I ever saw with a and ERB but I never got into what he did. I didn't listen to any of his work until this past year because I didn't want his playing style to come out in mine.
Also when I saw him, I noticed that he used a lot of delays and loops. That's why there will never be either one of those in anything that I do with my solo project. I want to distance myself from his play style as much as possible.
@Iliketacos091 Even though he is an awesome player. I got to meet him at the NAMM Show last year and he was really nice dude. He even let me hold his bass. It about broke my back it was so epically heavy and I am a pretty big dude. It was very surprising.
Also, hit me up on there. I will be promoting the crap out of it once it's finished. Promise d-_-b
@Lmaobama DUDE!!! You are the dopest. Hit me up on the facebook so I can keep you posted on when it's complete. We'll make it happen. Seriously, thank you soo much for checking out what I do. I appreciate, truly.
@Lmaobama I appreciate that so much. Thank you, truly, thank you. I will be making a CD within the next couple weeks it will be finished. Make sure to hit me up again so I can try to get one to you, if you are interested.
THIS IS MUSICIANSHIP!!!!!!!!! your music is SO inspireing Scott, please, keep this music comming, i have fallen in love with this, its very..............soul-grasping :), AWESOME MUSIC!!!!!!!
All I can say is.... WOW!!!!! Man You are beast at this!haha! At first I was thinking... "What would you do with a 12-String bass!?!?" But now it's WAY beyond what I could do now!lol
@TheDrumer1995 Dude!! Thank you for being so nice. I appreciate the kind words way more than I could possibly convey. This track is one of the earlier ones I wrote on the instrument so it's not as diverse as I would have liked for it to be. It's still fun to play and is one of the more well known of my life set =)
@MrFullscore1 Ha! Thank you, friend. I have revamped this song a good amount since I video recorded it. Now, it's even dumber and full of things that I can barely play. I try to make all my songs the biggest pain in the butt I can...
@MrFullscore1 Exactly! The way I see it, people don't come to my solo shows to see something that everyone can do. Hopefully, they're coming for the terrible jokes and all the absurdly titled songs.
@ShinigamiKusajika Oh yeah. The terrible jokes make the show. Everything seems to be funnier during a show. Now a days we have to do something crazy and different just to stand out. I dig your stuff though. After I saw you holding an elephant leg with strings I had to click on your videos lol. In your solo shows do you play the 12 string the whole time or do you switch it up? I hear a lot of Victor Wooten in your playin.
@MrFullscore1 I think I am hilarious all the time =) Thank you for checking it all out. I play my 4 string and my 12 string at all my shows. In all honesty, I feel like my 4 string playing is substantially more impressive. I don't listen to any Victor Wooten, actually. It's funny that you mention him because I live in Nashville and I have been compared to him pretty often. I went to highschool with a whole lot of his students. I was playing stand up bass at the time d-_-b
@ShinigamiKusajika Nice! That would be cool to whip out in the middle of the show. Throw in some stand up bass. Yeah I just watched one of your 4 string songs "Don't Write Songs Watching Conan, the Destroyer. Songs turn out Too Epic." It's incredible! Makes me want to start playing bass again. Do you ever use a loop pedal? I'm not sure if that's what I was hearing in that song or not.
@MrFullscore1 Hey, man! Thanks for checking out my other video. I don't own a stand up anymore. I do own a Kala U-Bass that sounds almost identical to a Stand Up and I plan on writing some two bass jazz music and putting it in my set, as well. I don't have a loop pedal in my gear. Actually, I don't use any digital effects, loops, or delays. What you are hearing are my sustain pedals. I have 3 and I use them at different times and on the fly to help create that sound wall d-_-b
@MrFullscore1 I love them! They are my favorite part of playing. My newest song uses them in ways I haven't up until the new song and I cannot wait to unveil the song to everyone. It is SO awesome to me that I can't stand it.
@MrFullscore1 Teehee! I've played it a couple of times live. I debuted it for a big show that I had down here at one of the bigger venues I've played so far and the people that came to see me stressed to me just how cool it was. It's going to be the one I use as my promo song and stuff. It's even funnier because I have 12 strings and this song is in standard E... You could play the versus on a regular old 4 string, no problem.
@ShinigamiKusajika Where do you play? If I weren't in North Pole, Alaska I would come see ya play. Hahaha I like to make my songs more complicated than they need to be lol.
@MrFullscore1 I play all around my city, right now. I am hoping to get my rig completed and my next bass close to completion and I am going to try and get out on the road. I want to do some workshops and some metal shows since those are the communities that I seem to dig on the most.
Also, if the songs aren't a pain in the ass than they are no fun to play =k
@ShinigamiKusajika Haha how true that is. Yeah! If you ever visit Alaska I have a lot of places to play. I'm with a metal band right now although it's really not my main style but we will be touring down there in the summer. It would be cool to get a show with you. Even if it's just my solo stuff and your solo stuff.
dude that was by far some gifted playing, seriously. I dig the delay effects. Do you have any albums or better yet any DVDs? Keep up with the youtube vids, thanks for posting.
@nickfkd76 Thank you!! I appreciate it. I have solo artist for about 4 months. I have yet to start on my actual record. I'm still gathering gear and playing solo shows.
Also, I don't have a delay. In this song I only have a reverb pedal and a sustain pedal d-_-b

I am always so happy to hear people who, in spite of obvious technical proficiency, remember how important it is to let the melody flow and don't just throw self indulgent wankery out there. Great stuff, really, man!
I have just had a private Scott Fernandez concert in my house with several family members. They wanted to throw singles but there was no case to catch them. I will fix that for the next concert
