This song and all songs by global artists of this world is a testament to the unique place of female homosapiens in this world. I as a man thank and celebrate all the women in my life from my mom,my wife to all women l have ever come across in my life's journey,be strong women and don't let no guy take advantage of you,you women are stronger than us men. To the mothers of this world you are blessed. Amen Halleluyah.

God bless your soul Evangelist Sonny Okosun., may your gentle soul rest in peace. I listened to his song again and I remember when I was a little girl watching my mother do the house chores, cook in the kitchen, prepare me for school making sure I looked my best and those moments when she scolds me for not doing the right thing.
God bless you my sweet mother, my very beautiful mummy..... best mother in the world....... *crying*
Nigeria has some great music legends, the likes of Fela, Sunny Okosun, am proud to have heard some of the greatest music minds and the music they make......and thanks fols for puting these up, it takes me back to the good old days, these is what i call music, not the junk we hear today.
Life is wonderful. when i was little living in the village with this kind of music, i could not boast of 10 kobo to buy akara when i need, but now i can spend up to 30 dollars every day for food. Yet i still miss those period i was poorer...lol why are we complaining????
Just cant stop listening to this track. There is nothing like mothers. always be there for you irrespective of what you are going through. May all the world mothers be blessed.
I'm a African American and the first time ever I heard this song by Sonny Okosun was introduced to me by my Ex- who was my true Nigerian love. I miss listening to my High life! If he ever comes on to this youtube and read these comments I pray that he comes across mines. I want to express my gratitude of him giving me this gift. Something that I will always cherish throughout my entire time on this Earth.
Love your comment Ma. Karl. This is a beautiful song indeed...haven't listen to this in a long time. Have you ever heard sweet mother? It is by Prince Nico...beautiful song too!
Love your comment Ms. Karl. This is a beautiful song indeed...haven't listen to this in a long time. Have you ever heard sweet mother? It is by Prince Nico...beautiful song too!
I disagree that this song was made everybody, in actual fact, it was mde for people that understands the meaning of good music. Nowadays, these young boyz of yahooze, kokolet and gongo-aso, have taken over the music industry with senseless songs and videos....God bless Okosun's soul
Well, I remember that the first modern music I listened to is an instrumental by Sony Okosun that say, "Friends ... are you crying ...! It was at Aba in 1976 or so. The youngman that played it then was a tailor and we lived at no 15 Ulasi Road opposite the Catholic Cathedral, across the East Street Prim School. Life was fun then. I thanked that Tailor man for introducing Sony to me. My best is his 80s "No More War" and "Man On The Run"

This song and A Mother's Love by Peter Love on YouTube are tearjerkers. Love the songs and video. This one is upbeat while Peter's song is more of a ballad. Simply beautiful!
I just can't stop crying. I still can't believe he is dead. It a hard truth to accept. Why should people like this who brings joy to people's hearts die? Why?
My condolence to the family and to the entire people who knows that Nigeria has lost another few good men.
I did not know this great maestro has passed on to the great beyond. Listening to his music as I have often done, I never knew he was physically gone. I remember him as a boy, and always comparing him to another maestro, Sir Victor Uwaifo. Yes, he will be missed by those who appreciate his message-packed music. This man impacted the world with his music. Like Mariam Makeba, he fought political injustices and neocolonialism in Africa. He was a hero and still is, even in death. RIP great one!!!
r.i.p our great brother ,sonny was our warrior one of those artist that fought for a better nigeria with his songs and lyrics i hope the present generations will follow his foot steps and not follow american artist that just talk about money and ASS.
Please, somebody should find the 1982 original and post. The background vocals in the original are indispensable, as are the dance moves of the backup singers if the video can still be retrieved. This more up-tempo version does not quite do justice to the original.
i cant just help coming back to listen to this song. i didnt know sunny okosun has passed on, "ile ma njeniyan oo like e chop my dad too". what a great man he was , a prophet sent to a land that will not listen. rest in peace
RIP Sunny!
