Personally I wouldn't pay for online anymore. I have a 360 ans a PS3 and both have equal problems from time to time. Live was down for a couple days in June (my friend was shaking from COD4 withdrawal after that, kind of sad) and I lost 1600 MSpoints at one point with no way to recover it.
I have both 360 and ps3 ill buy any game that i know im going to play online ill be for the 360. only if theres a game i like just for the ps3 then ill buy . So get a 360 pay the $50 best thing u can do

and to get your party system to work, have your buddy send u an invite, once received, hit the PS button, go over account management, hit triangle, sign out, sign back in, go accept the invite and u should be in, although there fixing it friday.
no the servers of MW2 was all infinity ward it was like that on 360 and pc but the ps3 can play because the servers were easier to get up and running on the other hand the 360 and pc has to wait until friday

I would gladly pay for PSN to be better and to get more features and such, but until they do that, we just have to deal with it, PSN isn't that bad anyways. the party issue will be fixed soon, and inviting can be easier if u press x on the name bring up the gamercard and press x on game icon and then press x on invite, it works a lot better than the going thru pressing triangle, and i believe the 360 version is having issues, not party problem but other issues.
The only time I had a problem with psn was on re5. I believe mw2 is messed up on psn brcause they wanted it messed up on psn. I would pay for psn if most games had dedicated servers, and it was bundled with netflix.
But don't let this get too you too much, it's only for a little while, a lot of people have bought this game, so most of the problems have came from that. When Halo 3 came out the game was unplayable for a couple of days.
Been saying this for years, Sony said the PSN was going to be free, but would be like a paid for service. They could definatly improve the PSN, I mean you can't even send voice messages on the PSN, something that you could do on the original XBOX.
