First time I went in the gym with a friend, I spotted him the wrong way, keeping my hands on the bar, but after a rep he said get my hands off the damn bar lol. Quick and blunt lesson :D.
thats why i bench by myself lol, i cant stand spotters. spotters should wait until they rep until they can't rep anymore and then grab the bar and put it on the rack.
Nothing annoys me more than assistance from a spotter. Especially with my 1rm! I'm 'testing' my own strength, not mine and yours combined you dumb spotter. Get out the gym! NOWWWWWW
i was at the gym yesterday and saw some guy spotting his friend, but had his hands on the bar the whole time helping him lift it... i just looked at them and shook my head.
this is very true for most people but I must say powerlifters ( and I know this is not about power lifters ) or anyone trying to build there bench to the maximum should have a little more close spot. Say you got a guy like myself benching 600 + lbs you need that close spot because if you do fuck up there isnt much time to react to save the person. I use at least 3 spotters due to the weight. this should have been mentioned
you would think that if someone was in process of completing a "6 week" training process, if having this problem with spotters, would give instructions to not touch...or better yet...as a friend to do it.
of course not though, cause bench press elitists probably have no friends, and would rather act like assholes. or just secretly hate the spotter for touching their bar and cry in their homes about it later LOL pos
the first thing he said is what so many dumb-fucks in my gym do when I lift; touch the bar when I lift. I get so pissed off, and tell them that If I needed help with the lift, I need to lower the weight, which I don't, so DO NOT TOUCH until I say so. Thank you, sir, for including that in here.
(1/2) "the impatient asshole over here" 03:28 ?? How about telling the spotter "hey man, im going for a PR, please don't touch the bar unless I really really can't lift it" instead of saying to the spotter "hey man, spot me" and then complain when the uninstructed spotter does something u don't like. How about realizing you yourself fucked up because of improper instructions? When it's important I always instruct my spotters. I do not see others do it. Take your own responsibility.
Thank you so much for this video. It pisses me off so much when the spotter touches the bar. You really do feel as if they fucked up all your training

@LUCKYBARNEY100 Spotters can be annoying, but unless your in a power rack for squats/bench, you'd be kinda stupid to not have a spotter for your 1RM.

What does he mean when he says "a PR set of 5?" ? (Obviously english is not my first lenguage). Nice video BTW
juanpablodt 9 months ago
@juanpablodt PR means personal record. Set of five means a set with 5 repetitions.
So it means a personal record for a set of five reps.

It's nice to see videos on here about how to spot someone correctly. I hate when dummies at the gym hold the bar the whole time while spotting me.

wow this is such bullshit...it is so much more efficient to have two people getting a workout from one exercise! hehe

while your benching you should find a spot to look at on the roof and dont take your eyes off it till your done.

yes, i feel like an ass after watching this... not that i've ever grabbed the bar, but i am guilty of hovering under it on the last 1-2 reps
