  • DUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • josh gura has watched this video

  • omg ))

  • Why would you even upload this?

  • @BibleStorm To show the amazing sustain.

  • gotta put a dip in.... dirt

  • Did you pull it ou of a stone?

  • @COLEMATSCHKETV Interesting you say so! Why you think so?

  • @COLEMATSCHKETV Schwedisch

  • If it was round, you could call it rock n roll.

  • Fin Abramis-tröja!

  • TOO MUCH NOTES!!! MY HEEEEAAD! AAAH >.<

  • If that strap actually could handle the weight, you would probably break your neck if you play stand up

  • i can see meshuggah playing that xD

  • @explosionguy Fredrik Thordendal has already played it.

  • shit

  • most rockin' man!! but is it metal?

  • Listen to the sustain.

  • BADASS MAN \m/

  • Fanned fret stone 8 string? Doesn't get much more metal than that lol

  • Probably heavy as fuck.

  • @zackmorgs 16kg, thats 35 pounds dude.

  • That guitar is so heavy, only Chuck Norris can gig it live.

  • that was my idea that i was hesitating even to ask for google ! i'm now relaxed. no one will be able to steal my idea as it's been already found by another one :)

  • How would you like to play a 4 hour gig with that thing slung over your shoulder. LOL!

  • You took that thing from the Hard Rock Café ?

  • Now play some Rolling Stones on that thing.

  • now, THAT is rock! ;)

  • @ChristianFS1 pun intended?

  • Faan va najs due, hur lyckades du komma över den? Vem har gjort den? Vilket pris?? :p

  • @NoaOno Jag har gjort den. Jag bygger ett par åt Meshuggah nu :D

  • @komorok Ohh jävlar ser fram emot ett extra hårt album i år! ;)

  • The legendary Roy Buchanan owned, and played on at least one album, a guitar fabricated out of solid granite, It was made for him by luthier Joel M Cawthorn, and according to Buchanan it sustained for ever (just like the one in the video does)

However, apart from the sustain, it was reputed to be deficient in the tone department, probably why Roy never went on the road with it.

That, and the fact that it weighed 30 pounds ...

  • FUCK man! the sustain lasts for what? a couple of hours?

  • SNUS!!!!

  • NUTS!! I would like to see a bass made of stone. Maybe the sustain could be improved. But the weight...

This guitar sounds like any guitar. But... it's interesting.

  • Holy fuck i think its awesome

  • haha and some people complain that les pauls are heavy.

personally im built like livestock so it would not be an issue for me but i have skinny mortal friends who would find it tiresome after a short time.

  • Haha, det där var mästerligt grabbar! En gitarr som har så lång efterklang att du hinner ta en snus :D! Har nyss byggt klart min första elgitarr helt i egen design, kul att hitta några med samma intresse, svenskar dessutom! :)

  • that thing must be a ton

  • guitar made of beer

  • ROCK ON!

  • 35 pounds....? x.o

That sounds painful to play live. But for recording... FUCK YEAH!

  • This is great. My friends and I had a debate at work over the practicality of a stone guitar. They said it wouldn't work. I'm gonna show them this.

  • Hej! Hur bar du dig åt att forma allt? Hur gjorde du med halsen? Är sjukt imponerad, hade helt klart velat ha en stengura jag med! :D

  • Are you guys from Finland?

  • No, I am from Sweden. Snus is legal here :-)

  • Ahh, ok, so I was close. This is just another reason I'd want to visit scandinavia. Stone guitars are epic. =)

  • You are welcome.

  • hahah fan va hårt!

  • anyone know where i can get diagrams or something of the sort to build my own fanned fret neck? any help would be appreciated.

  • Just calculate the two scales you would like to use and mark them on the fretboard on lines representing the highest and lowest string. Then draw lines between the marks. The you have it. Just fill in the question in my inferior description with logic answers and there you have it :-)

Or search: Multi-scale fingerboard on Wikipedia. There you will find links to a calculator.

    good luck!

  • ... solid

  • this is THE REaL ROCK! you ROCK!

  • negative? No, just a realistic guitar maker for 20+ years. Its a great novelty idea sure, but performance and practicality wise, its just not viable, sorry.

  • Drop it once and say goodbye to 3500 Euros.

Try playing a full gig with it strapped to your shoulder.

Too bad if you want to customise ANYTHING.

The fanned frets seem the only logical thing about it.

Great sustain,,,, for a novelty guitar.

  • Wow so negative

  • So let me get this straight. You think that if he drops that rock made guitar, it's going to break?? I've dropped a regular made guitar dozens of times and had nothing wrong with it. Not that I treat my guitars like crap or anything but I do have a few crappy guitars I care less than a little about. Anyways, I'm pretty sure that thing would make a dent in the ground before it would chip the guitar.

  • Ummm, yeah it would most likely break because wood flexes, stone doesnt!

As the maker himself stated, the guitar is "impractical" in a typical sense, ie: too heavy and potentially brittle.

Dont get me wrong, its an AWESOME concept, but the commercial practicalities are limited.

  • Btw, ive been a luthier for more than 20 years, so ive seen just how flexible materials can actually benifit a guitar.

Yeah, this guitar is a great idea, but its a concept design.

I think he's got a great idea, but will really shine when he blends both wood and stone into 1 instrument.

Maybe a maple or mahogany through neck with a maple core laminated slim line stone body?,,, BRILLIANT!!!

  • I finished off a stoneguitar with wooden neck last month actually :-) It sounded great. But I got no kick at all out of making it so I don´t think I´ll do another.

Have you checked out jemsite? I have a thread there called insane guitar. The whole build of it is documented there.

Hey woodsalder! I don´t think that anything you have said about my guitar is wrong. Except one thing: The wood/ stone-combo doesn´t sound better than the massive stoneguitar. Pm me if you want more info.

  • @knuckles1690

I can guarantee that it will break if you drop it. Stone is a ceramical material. Like glass. It it hard but brittle.

  • Well most of the time if you ever drop a rock, it doesn't break. I'm not saying it wouldn't, but I doubt your going to drop that guitar and it's just going to shatter. I'm sure that at the right angle it would but for the most part it probably wouldn't. (Unless your dropping it on a road or concrete in which case none of my comment are applicable.)

  • The guitar won´t shatter. But the drop will most definetly result in a crack in the neck and that would certainly not be a good thing.

  • sweet!!

  • eww tobacco. nice guitar tho- long substain and looks badass

  • That guitar is soooooo Spinal Tap. Finally, a guitar that goes to 11!!!!!!!!!!!! Please post more vids of this beast being played. PLEASE!

  • hahahahaha

"You could go out for a sandwich you'd still be hearing that one"

  • is the body also made of stone? :-S

  • i got 2 questions for you:

    1. What'd you say in the beginning?

    2. whats the longest that guitar's ever sustained a note?

  • The project cost me around 3500 euros. I would sell it for 8500 euros. But if you want a guitar like it I could probably make it for 800 euros ( + hardware ) because I would use our CNC-machine instead of doing everything by handheld tools. And all the experience I got from the project would save me lots of time ( = money ).

  • How much is it selling for?

  • Ahh... that old nicotine-under-the-lip-sustain-test..

  • is it heavy ????

    ha

  • No, it weights only 16 kg :-)

  • bah this was my idea! :P

oh well, it had to be done. cool to see that it works out!

  • Oh, and did you build it yourself or did you buy it at some.. wierd store? :P

  • You can testplay it at VE-sten AB in Vällingby, Stockholm. For sale!

  • "Så tar vi en snus medans vi får en ton på gitarren" :)

    Låter grymt/Sounds cool!

  • That's very interesting. What guitar company did you have to nag to get that built for you? It looks kinda like a conklin.

    Very nice guitar. :]

  • I have done everything myself, except for the soldering of the electronics but including the fretboard. The basic design IS the Conklin sidewinder.

  • thats so crazy... so the neck is entirely stone as well? 0% wood, totally?

  • The fretboard is made of wood. But the neck is made of stone. It is reinforced with a 5160-steelbar, running through the middle of the neck.

  • mannnnn

    hella cool :)

  • That's got to be almost as heavy as a Les Paul.

  • It weights about 16 kg's. So it is about 2,5 les pauls I would guess.

  • awesome stuff

  • thats some ridonkulous sustain. Please give me more info about it.
