  • Csodálatos. Eszményi muzikalitás, gyönyörű hang, kifogástalan technika. És ami színházban nélkülözhetetlen, páratlan szinészi azonosulás!!!

  • This is the best interpretation of "Deh Vieni" I've ever heard. His lyricism is phenomenal---each phrase is like a caress. Gives me shivers each time I hear it.

  • Wonderful, perfect voice...

  • How, oh how could this man have seduced ONLY 2063 women??

  • @operaforever123 Vacations, perhaps.

  • Csoda!!!

  • 4 stars or should I say 4 panties? ;p

  • Keenlyside has a nice voice, but the man is a LIGHTWEIGHT. He has the voice for Mozart, but not much else.

  • @BurlyLumberjack This IS Mozart, and he's great. What did you mean to contribute to this wonderful rendition with that comment?

  • I don't like baritons in Don Giovanni! Why? Listen Siepi or Ghiaurov and see for yourself!

  • Best timbres comes out better in smaller opera houses. I think i prefer smaller operahouses with singers who have extraordinary beautiful voice

  • Ar fheabhas ar fad go mór mór sotto vocé

  • siepi and allen are the best in this

  • would!

  • viva la musica leggera.

  • yes, I saw him at La Monnaie in Brussels in 2003 and I fell in love :-) he had totally the "Don Giovanni effect" on the audience.

Did you know that he is a zoologist by training too ?

  • @pepamicro

who else could have don giovanni effect if he didnt :-) ?

    you are so so lucky.

  • ragazzi, completamente d´accordo che la voce di Simon va benissimo per il Don Giovanni, anche perchè lui è bellissimo sulla scena

  • God, he's so HANDSOME! *.*

  • How cute is Simon here. <3 And his voice is so perfect for Mozart.

I love when the Don is so young. The first Don was only 21.

  • For me, the melody of this song sings itself... no need for anything too fancy or "artistic" to do it justice. That's why I like this version.

  • strait ill he sings it how its supposed to be done. Gentle. This and tito gobbi's version are my favorite

  • Beautiful

  • presque aussi bien que peter mattei, mon préféré! très belle voix, justesse, utilisation intelligente des nuances...

    chapeau!!

  • Mattei est superieur

  • such a handsome don. Beautifully sung, loved the pianissimo second verse.beautiful man.great emotion in the song, he sings it so tenderly. Great contrast with the Champagne aria in same production, where he is much more overtly virile, arrogant, and out of control.

  • ecco un artista! I was in the house, and the 3 men (Simon, Terfel and D'Arcangelo) were excellent, really excellent

  • This is my favorite "Deh, vieni." It's better than either of his studio recordings (one with Abbado as well), and those were pretty fabulous. The way he softens his voice for the second verse is simply marvelous.

  • listen to Peter Mattei

  • I do love Mattei's voice and his rendition is very effective, but the little trills seem out of place to me. Keenlyside's is much cleaner. But thanks for the recommendation. :)

  • I agree this is cleaner and more musically sound, as much as I love Mattei.

  • Mettei does a good version as well. I prefer Keenlyside's but all the same, Mettei is worth listening to.

  • just listened to Matteis, as recommended' - it is not quite comparable - Mattei has a nice (extremely pleasant!) natural voice but comparing him to Keenlyside is like comparing, say an apple to a mango (silly isn't it - i'd imagine even sillier to people who prefer apples) - in any case Mattei's version of this aria starts fine, wobbling a bit around notes, and, at 'tu che il zucchero' falls apart altogether and turns into a pop song

  • amazing, simon shows the true song through not just emotion but dynamics. *applause* well done

  • He reminds me (in his looks) a little to my other favourite, Christian Müller. Both are young, sexy, slim, and attractive with long ponytail... and both have beautiful baritone voices.

  • Where's his Mandolin?!

  • If Simon sang this aria for me, I would jump "della finestra" from the 10th floor directly into his arms without hesitation. He is wonderful

  • Brilliant. The secret to playing Giovanni is to make we the audience understand - even though we know what he is really like - make us understand how the women fall for him when he is in seduction mode. Most baritones play him so 2-dimensional that we can never believe that any girl would fall for him. This guy understands that subtlety.

His voice is not bad either! :)

  • Flawless singer and SEXY!

  • Here here! He has no rival in that song. Bravo, Simon. And yea, he's sexy!

  • I think Mattei is!

  • Yeah, he oozes sex appeal hahaha.

  • that was hot and delicious

  • Oh my lord, is interpretation is pure gold! And he used to be such a handsome man, too. When was this?

  • He still IS a very handsome man, methinks. Yummy. And: 1998. :-)

  • I agree, he's still quite attractive, but certainly not like ten years ago. I mean, hell, he was probably sex incarnate with his debonair sophistication, even playing rascals onstage.

  • @forallyouknow

he is still handsome : -)))

  • hes a machine!!!!

    what a guy!

  • A refined singer! Excellent techique.

  • he doesn't convinve me as Don Giovanni!!

    nothing special..

  • What a shame! I´m sure he would love to convinve you,6612576...

  • muy bueno! :P

  • His sotto voce is as I remember it - perfect. He has always been able to spin the most perfect sotto voce line and does so most effectively here at the beginning of the second verse. What a singer.

  • Bravo! Keenlyside is a fantastic singer!

  • yeah but WHERE IS THE MANDOLIN??? I mean excellent singing but what's up whith the exclution of Don Giovanni picking up a mandoline (for the acting sake at least)

  • Lovely but I prefer Peter Mattei :-))

  • Peter Mattei's deh vieni is indeeeeed unbelieeevably beautiful!! But this one can also turn around in my stomach (not many Don Giovanni's can do this, and believe me, I saw many versions...)

  • wonderfull singer !

  • Sencillamente exquisito!!!!

  • beautiful!

  • I love it!

  • it is the very right role for him:)

  • on the second part, very impressive color!!
