Well for one, the riffs are boring, it has barely any variety, it has the same, mid tempo pace through the entire song.

Some artists pull that off nicely, imo, these guys are not one of them.

I am surprised, though. I heard that Fear Factory was one of the first to include clean vocals and electronics. Not what I'm hearing in this song.

I'm very happy Fear Factory are back - I did wonder what happened when they are such a quality band - hopefully Road Runner will look after the lads well - I mean they look after Maiden so if the new record is the dogs bollocks all will be well. Calvin Records really screwed these guys over. They forced them to finish Transgression before it was ready, gave it no good production quality, and just generally treated Fear Factory like shit. I wonder why they didn't stay with Liquid 8 records.

I love the sound to this. Regardless of the band or it's popularity, the sound itself is more underground and pure. The vocals are punchy and heavy, but not too distorted, and by no means guttural.

Most bands lose this sound when they enter the 'studio'. Only a few deathmetal bands even keep it.
