The new Adamo XPS was just announced! Details are scant, but I'm guessing it will move to the Ion platform. Hopefully this time they will work out the issues the first one had, and have a truly competitive product this time 'round!

I'd recommend the Adamo over a Macbook Air (more stylish, better selection of ports, E2E, replaceable battery...) however it's far too overpriced for what it is. The MBA is much faster too...
The max processor is only a 1.4GHz core 2 duo so I don't know. But there are plenty other computers that can run CoD that are well under this computers 2k base price.
depends on what you are after. Voodoo is faster and cheaper than the Adamo, but imo the Adamo looks tons better. Either way, you are paying a HUGE premium for style.

I just orderd the Dell XPS 16, 500GB 7200RPM SATA HD. Intel core 2 duo P8600 Processor, 1080MP screen. 2MP Camera. and its just soo woahh. I dont like the screen how it opens on the Adamo.
This is totally an improved version of voodoo envy 133. Great design but just doesnt worth the price tag that is has. I bet the Eee PC 1008HA would be a much better choice. Even Macbook air is cheaper than this piece of aluminum, Hope they adjust their price or else their store will never get sold.

Sorry my above reply was supposed to be a normal comment. In reply to your comment; MacBook Air doesn't require an optical drive; it has Remote Disc for that; you can upgrade the RAM (some companies do offer the service of 'un-soldiering' the memory from the logic board then replacing that with new memory). It doesn't require ethernet for the reason stated above and for the reason stated by Apple; it's designed for the wireless world. Why replaceable battery? Much longer battery life.

The specs are perfectly fine, it's an executive laptop, not gaming one. And if you are crying about the price, than this laptop is clearly not for you or other consumers in similarly shitty financial situation. Much better than the PoS MacBook Air which has faster cpu but overheats like mad whenever under load for half an hour or longer. Not to mention that the gray color of Macs looks cheap, all topped with that cheap white plastic fruit on the lid, makes business partners chuckle each time.

Ok well the specs are terrible compared to the air (especially if they are gonna ship with vista..) Also two usb thats cool compared to the air (1 more lol). The air is a lot nicer and sleeker. This thing costs $200 more than both versions of the air, same 128gb SSD while the air is 600mhz faster and with mac os X which will make a tremendous difference, its definitely NOT worth the $2000 if even close.
You forgot an important point that it COST MORE than the Air and it's boxy and has a tiny trackpad with no mult-touch gestures. You should always check your facts before posting. Yes, the Dell is $2000 with a 128GB SSD. What you failed to post is that it has a very slow 1.2 Ghz Intel processor with an 800mhz system bus and 3Mb L2 cache with low end shared graphics. The Air has a 1.6Ghz processor with a 1066 Mhz system bus with 128GB SSD, 6Mb L2 Cache and GeForce 9400M GPU for $2299. You were saying???
OK, I just checked the specs that have been revealed, and the prices. I hate to say this(to badly paraphrase a quote) because the day I buy a mac product for myself is the day I swallow razor wire, pull the end out my ass, and floss myself to death, but the Air actually seems to come out on top amongst the three, envy coming in a close second. Since they can all run the same OS's(provided you monkey around a bit with the Air), it seems like Dell's coming in pretty late with a lackluster offer
Yeh Intel GMA graphics and slow CPU which the Adamo has is most certainly not about 'power processing. It may not even be enough to run Vista at it's best.
At least the Air has a much faster CPU running at 1.8GHz, together with Nvidia 9400 graphics. Nvidia 9400 been around 5x faster than Intel GMA. Vista would perform much better on such hardware, if you was to install it on the Air.
Looks is purely subjective and down to personal taste IMO.

Dell had an opportunity here to provide a lower-cost vanity laptop, in keeping with they're general way of doing things. Instead, they blew it on a laptop that costs more, does less, looks good, but isn't worth the parts it's built out of even from a viewpoint leaning towards form over function. I wouldn't have minded if it were 1500 or less, but at 2000 it's unjustifiable.
Seriously, what the Envy should have been? I'm not saying it's a bad design, and the ports in back are nice, but you've got no specs. You've got no price. They're both reasonably pretty(I like the Envy's design a bit more, but then I'd have to see this all in action), but that's hardly anything to go by. And what about the battery? I'd like to be able to replace my battery without having to either rip my computer apart or leave things in the incompetent hands of Dell tech support.
The website shows off 3 USB ports, but what about 1380 firewire for those of us who want to do video? Firewire is better than USB. There was a port on the back that was a 4th one, is that fire wire? I couldn't tell on the website and there was nothing said about it.

Backlit keyboard is very handy, and more luxory than normal computers. It's not something from apple come on...
It has no DVD drive simply because it's to hard to also fix that in that small volume.
About the last part... Apple always has been a luxory product. Dell focussing more on middle class. But since style and design is becoming more importat even to the avage user that market has been broken. maybe they would, but you can't tell. this is an ever going evolution..

To be fair, it's not like the concept of ultra slim laptop was invented by Apple. The Macbook Air took it to an extreme of sorts, but it wasn't breaking new ground any more than the latest x86 processor would. The people who laughed at the Air are still laughing, and no doubt laughing just as hard at the competition.
Anyway, since I don't exactly prefer mac or windows(I refuse to say PC because they're all PCs), it really boils down to cost/benefit, and to the Air's credit, it does that well.

Sorry my above reply was supposed to be a normal comment. In reply to your comment; MacBook Air doesn't require an optical drive; it has Remote Disc for that; you can upgrade the RAM (some companies do offer the service of 'un-soldiering' the memory from the logic board then replacing that with new memory). It doesn't require ethernet for the reason stated above and for the reason stated by Apple; it's designed for the wireless world. Why replaceable battery? Much longer battery life.

I bought the Dell XPS M1330 and I have to say that it's bullshit. Yeah, also heard first look review as "the most thinnest of Dell", "premiu finish" and so on, but still shit.
People have to be awake, don't be guided only for design or mambos jambos like "one of the most thinnest","one of the most lighest". Bullshit.
I hate Dell. My graphic card die and the service took 10 days to show up. And everything for over 1300 euros.

what a joke, 1.2 GHz cpu for $1999 running windoze, ugly design, overpriced, it's a dell (i have had several trough work and they all pretty much sucked) & no optical.
Could get a Macbook for much less that runs circles around that piece of tlaurd for half the price, plus it comes with tones of easy & usefull apps out of the box..
AND if I want portabilty i would get a Mac AIR any day of the week...its even cheaper for what you get.

OK, I also love macbooks and OS X, but please, don't be blinded and ignorant... Sony created an ultrathin laptop before apple thought about Air! And, yes, the "macbook-style-keyboard" (with individual keys) is actually again a Sony-style keyboard... read and know more...
And lastly - MacBookAir, despite the looks, is quite mediocre machine; where is the second (not to mention the third) USB port, the ethernet card, the removable battery, etc.???

they did make the first personal computer and called it the macintosh, at the same time bill gates worked for apple and copied its operating system shipping to japan macs with bills OS thats why he quit apple before getting fired. so there are a few things apple did first but not all. bill gates was smart and was the first to license his product to other computers unlike apple a fact that gave microsoft the upperhand in sales. good for bill smart thinking. i own a mabook i like both OS

The specs are perfectly fine, it's an executive laptop, not gaming one. And if you are crying about the price, than this laptop is clearly not for you or other consumers in similarly shitty financial situation. Much better than the PoS MacBook Air which has faster cpu but overheats like mad whenever under load for half an hour or longer. Not to mention that the gray color of Macs looks cheap, all topped with that cheap white plastic fruit on the lid, makes business partners chuckle each time.

Funny when the macbook air came out people complain that it was stupid and who would buy a computer with no cd drive in it. Now that dell and hp have copied the idea it cool now, but dell and hp fail because they offer slower processors. This is ridiculous. Dell really failed here. My 400 dollar dell laptop has better specs than this thing, and it cost less, mostly because it doesn't have a solid state hardrive witch nobody needs.
Apple's looks thinner than it actually is; it doesn't have straight edges, they curve, so it looks great.

Despite the performance, there is a market for a luxury laptop with a high profit margin (like the Air). Dell's thickest point is 0.65 inches, thinner than the Air's 0.75 inches.

And I've had it for 3 years, not ONCE has it overheated, needed any service, and there are no scratches on it either.
The only problem is the screen is kinda loose, but hell, it was 400 dollars, it exceeded my expectation.

Thing is the Adamo has much slower graphics and CPU than the MacBook Air, and it costs more than the Air.
IMO the Adamo is most definitely a vanity laptop, very high cost with comparatively poor performance.
BTW Sony also has some ultra-thin boutique laptops as well.

Ok well the specs are terrible compared to the air (especially if they are gonna ship with vista..) Also two usb thats cool compared to the air (1 more lol). The air is a lot nicer and sleeker. This thing costs $200 more than both versions of the air, same 128gb SSD while the air is 600mhz faster and with mac os X which will make a tremendous difference, its definitely NOT worth the $2000 if even close.

Don't kid yourself, Dell has already tried to copy Apple's stuff and failed. Dell's AIO iMac wannabe. The iMac still outsells them all. You should always check your facts before posting. Yes, the Dell is $2000 with a 128GB SSD. What you failed to post is that it has a very slow 1.2 Ghz Intel processor with an 800mhz system bus and 3Mb L2 cache with low end shared graphics. The Air has a 1.6Ghz processor with a 1066 Mhz system bus with 128GB SSD, 6Mb L2 Cache and GeForce 9400M GPU for $2299. You were saying???

OK, I just checked the specs that have been revealed, and the prices. I hate to say this(to badly paraphrase a quote) because the day I buy a mac product for myself is the day I swallow razor wire, pull the end out my ass, and floss myself to death, but the Air actually seems to come out on top amongst the three, envy coming in a close second. Since they can all run the same OS's(provided you monkey around a bit with the Air), it seems like Dell's coming in pretty late with a lackluster offer

Yeh Intel GMA graphics and slow CPU which the Adamo has is most certainly not about 'power processing. It may not even be enough to run Vista at it's best.
At least the Air has a much faster CPU running at 1.8GHz, together with Nvidia 9400 graphics. Nvidia 9400 been around 5x faster than Intel GMA. Vista would perform much better on such hardware, if you was to install it on the Air.
Looks is purely subjective and down to personal taste IMO.

Dell had an opportunity here to provide a lower-cost vanity laptop, in keeping with they're general way of doing things. Instead, they blew it on a laptop that costs more, does less, looks good, but isn't worth the parts it's built out of even from a viewpoint leaning towards form over function. I wouldn't have minded if it were 1500 or less, but at 2000 it's unjustifiable.

Seriously, what the Envy should have been? I'm not saying it's a bad design, and the ports in back are nice, but you've got no specs. You've got no price. They're both reasonably pretty(I like the Envy's design a bit more, but then I'd have to see this all in action), but that's hardly anything to go by. And what about the battery? I'd like to be able to replace my battery without having to either rip my computer apart or leave things in the incompetent hands of Dell tech support.

Sure, OS X is pretty and functional... until you want something it doesn't run, a point that can easily be hit. Despite what many fanatics say, it does not have an equivalent for everything. Never mind that it's power to function on cheaper or even legacy hardware is just as bad, if not worse, than Vista's. Not that any alternative is significantly better, but OS X is hardly the holy grail of OSs.

If I was jealous, I would go out and buy a mac in no time. But seeing them suck like this, I would never do that. I personally have enough money to buy the most expensive mac. I am totally computer savvy, and I do upgrade my computers a lot, not including that I'm going to be building my own computer soon, which will of course run windows. That system will be used primarily for gaming, and other hard-core tasks like video editing. As you can see, the mac is not for me.

Backlit keyboard is very handy, and more luxory than normal computers. It's not something from apple come on...
It has no DVD drive simply because it's to hard to also fix that in that small volume.
About the last part... Apple always has been a luxory product. Dell focussing more on middle class. But since style and design is becoming more importat even to the avage user that market has been broken. maybe they would, but you can't tell. this is an ever going evolution..

To be fair, it's not like the concept of ultra slim laptop was invented by Apple. The Macbook Air took it to an extreme of sorts, but it wasn't breaking new ground any more than the latest x86 processor would. The people who laughed at the Air are still laughing, and no doubt laughing just as hard at the competition.
Anyway, since I don't exactly prefer mac or windows(I refuse to say PC because they're all PCs), it really boils down to cost/benefit, and to the Air's credit, it does that well.
