This beautiful song was his version translated into Portuguese by singer-songwriter Espirito Santo (one who is born in the state of Espirito Santo in Brazil), called John Pepper, and soon after recorded the beautiful backcountry and Leandro & Leonardo.
HA HA HA!!! That comment below is so funny, I laughed my head off. But it's true. Why would a deaf person listen to a song about the sounds of silence??? It's a perfectly good question!
@jujujujuparisxx, the song IS NOT about SILENCE it is about the grief people felt when their heros die, they become silent in their grief. Hence, sounds of silence.
@jujujujuparisxx, "The Sounds of Silence" is the song that propelled the 1960s folk music duo Simon and Garfunkel to popularity. It was written in February 1964 by Paul Simon in the aftermath of the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Simon conceived of the song as a way of capturing the emotional trauma felt by many Americans.

was there a movie about an austic boy being lost in a wilderness and a couger being loose in the area. I think that this song was sung in that movie...What was the title of it? I was almost sure that it was "Silence" but I can't find it anywhere on Blockbuster or Netflix.
why would a deaf person listen to a song about the sound of silence? im pretty sure they have the sound of silence playing all day in thier head anyway
@danieldtt, the song has NOTHING to do with Deafness. It was written after Robert Kennedy was killed and about the affect of his death on the nation. How all one could hear were "the sounds of silence." BTW, Deaf like music too.
Why not? Why do hearing, who have ears, listen to music?
It's the same thing. Deaf may not understand the song without lyrics or subtitles, but they can feel the music. Many Deaf also love rap music, why? Because they can feel the beats when they put on their headphones or put their hands on the speakers.
Myself, I have a profound hearing loss, but growing up the music saved my sanity even if I did not hear the words. Lyrics help, so I subtitle.
its great how people dont understand symbolism XDD

Thank you for posting this version of 'The Sound Of Silence.' I couldn't quite hear the words that were whisperd at the end, though.

I know what you mean. I had to turn up the volume on my headset to hear it so I could time the subtitles properly.

Actually, the word 'Silence' is singular, as opposed to plural.
Thank you.

I tittled it "Sounds of Silence" as that is the name of the song when it was published.
Blessed 2010.

Thank you.
You still can't plural a singular in some cases, can you?
All the best....
