I thought that this would be interesting to you. I am in a social psychology class at the community college I am attending and this video is part of an assignment I am doing. Just proves your point about how many people could be watching you.
Impression-wise, I am keen not to look like an idiot (which is a shame really, because being an idiot can be a lot of fun). I'm not sure who my audience is so it would be difficult to play to them. For me, familiarity more often breeds affection than contempt, at least with friends. I haven't unsubscribed to anyone, but there are people I don't watch as frequently. You, incidentally, do not fall into that category—I just haven't been around YouTube much.
This to me is about the many masks we all wear everyday, out in the world. In a video we can only choose one mask, though our audience has many different members. Well, my guess is here we'll often have on the wrong mask. I'm off to read about the risks ... Thanks.
There ya' go. I guess I'm a "nice lady" who watches you, or not. :) I really enjoy your blogs because you do seem to be presenting your "real" self. I find you more interesting as I learn more about you. Thanks for a great year. Lauren
I used to comment on nearly every video I watched - assumed it was just good manners - comments were geared toward the poster, not to other viewers. But I realized this was not a one-on-one conversation, so I've adjusted my comments for more of a group discussion. And I comment much less often.
I've only un-subbed once when the poster suddenly started being extremely offensive.
I think your record was skipping lol I'd vlog more if I felt I had the personality for it. Maybe one day I will. Some people are born vloggers lol and some like to hide a wee little bit lol I rarely unsub, but I have done it. I have way too many subscriptions but I subbed bcos I like them, and I like ALOT of people and the newcomers. = )
well I do sort of tame my real self down a bit knowing there are certain people outside of YouTube who watch me - stepkids, family, friends, acquaintances. I wish I had originally come up with a persona that I could hide behind but it woulnd't have worked anyway because I'm too lazy to keep at anything for long.
I do unsub from people from time to time but not as much as I used to. I used to have weird rules about the number of subscriptions I allowed myself because i didn't want to get to caught up in the insanity! But I have relaxed on that a bit and just watch what I want to watch and don't put pressure on myself to keep up with everything.
You're not unsubbing anytime soon are you? hahaha No. I'm serious. ;)
I don't have a camera yet...watching for sales. Give me a good chance to put it off since I am extremely camera shy. I don't think I'll be trying to appeal to a certain audience, just trying to get through the whole ordeal! LOL So when I finally make a vlog it will be a very painful experience...probably for all! :)
i unsub. when i get bored enuf 2 stop watching someone- pretty rarely do i unsub. I'm totally myself on utube. i'm conscious of how i look. don't want friends/family members to find me. god forbid MY STUDENTS. NOONE knows my real name. i think you come across great, smart, don't need a thing to hide behind like some celebs (not that u r, but cd b)
I learned (through painful experience) to be more judicious with my comments - oftentimes, they can be misunderstood because, after all, you really don't know me. And, yes, I edit where my limited skills allow editing. Thank God I learned that you don't have to make a vlog in one "take"! Finally, yes, I have unsubbed. But, you are a keeper. - roc
I don't do or say anything on here I wouldn't do or say in real life. I am not out for an audience--I am more out for the conversation or friendships. I have subbed to some I wish I hadn't, but have yet to unsub them. I caved in to peer pressure--everyone else likes them or thinks they're funny, so maybe I just need to watch more. Once I realize they are actually not for me, I just quit watching.
I've found the more I get to know a person the more I like watching them because I can understand some of their references and inferences of what they talk about. Unless they change their style or make a specific remark about something I don't unsubscribe but I have to say that I don't sub to someone unless I watch at least half a dozen of their videos... normally.
As far as the image portrayed by me. I generally put out what I think they can handle.
That sounded a little dirty...... and that I would never say to anyone in my family because, although I'm not vulgar (and I don't like people who are), I say more on here than around any of my family. They are much more religious/conservative than I am.
for me personally, a couple of people I know IRL watch my videos so Im careful not to mention anything that may be offensive to them, BUT.. when I make a video Im not thinking about a specific 'audience' at all, im here to be who I am and thats all. And I have unsubscribed to a lot of people but not because 'i know them'.. just because I dont like their videos or maybe they rub me the wrong way!
You're totally wrong about myspace baby. :) It's a great place to write. It really is. I don't think you're an asshole. Breeding contempt! Excellent statement. I may responde to this later. I have a Dr. appointment at 10. I love you baby!
My channel & videos are relatively vanilla because I'm incredibly conscious of my audience (which includes kids, family members & potentially my employer at the school board). I'm even careful about what videos I favorite. I'm much freer writing comments on other people's videos if I feel like they might enjoy raunchy, suggestive or playful things.
And just be forewarned,...I will & do unsubscribe people on occassion when I deem it to be warranted. :] I'm especially quick with the unsubscribe button when the vlogger pretends to die, then comes back saying it was all just a joke. haha-not.
hey mickmusings mom hey.ok mick if you flapped those wriste any harder you would have flown off screen.i watch you cause yur cute whinning or otherwise enertaining where is the puppy
sure, i edit myself in vids and in comments. comments are the hardest since tone can translate as hurtful in the turn of a tiny phrase and i'm really just trying to be funny. videos, censoring language, and other annoying habits i know i have. ;)
3. yeah i try out lotsa subscriptions. but i just dropped one. i try to give new channels a shot...but if i really dont like a persons vids...i unsub.
OK Michael, you have touched on some things I have wondered about myself. The 3 questions deserve an answer. I plan to make a video response later today when I look presentable.
these questions uv written are fascinatingly psychological. i think iv thought all these questions, and im sure others have too - it's just no one has brought it up before.
im an extremely self conscious person, so i am always wondering how i appear, and stuff.
Well, Van, what makes you think that when I said "nice ladies" I was referring to you? You get grouped in with Bob and Marc: you're sort of all ladies, but NICE? Hmmm... Now those sisters from Canada, THEY'RE nice... (I lerv you, Lady)

You are not an asshole, I like you.
Now, for the important question, where is Lulu?
