Limbs, This was a great conversation and you were just starting to scratch the surface of something early in the commentary. The issue at hand is the classic juxtaposition of artistic integrity vs. 'selling out'. This dichotomy is seen in most mediums of entertainment. It is seen in the movie industry when 90% of new movies are sequels, franchises, adaptations, or remakes. All you have to do is take pride in your own integrity and work, and it might work out. Just Look at a guy like Bill Hicks.

It's all circumstantial. As a 16 year old with a channel, if I get partnered I'll put a small amount of ads on my channel and videos but not much because I don't need the money as such. If someone like Wings makes a video, he's trying to support a girlfriend and her son along with himself. He needs more money to live so he'll put more ads on his videos.

This may be completely wrong but as nobody can legally talk about the amount of money they make, it's my opinion, if from the outside.

Money should not be the main motivation of making Youtube videos. Taking advantage of people that love to ride dicks is not a proper way to gain a viewership, and that is what most of the big youtubers do nowadays. It's a simple equation: money produces greed in certain individuals. When it's not about the content, you forget why video sharing websites were made. If Google only rewarded 10-20% of the ad profits, I guarantee that the cream would rise to the top. good content FTW

I think what happens is that people start focusing on quantity and not quality. Youtube brought in partnerships, they did it so people would use the money to make even better videos and get more views, and that's what happened mostly with most youtubers. Look at people like Tobuscus and Sxephil who got better with the financial support. For some reason though, gamers did the opposite and started making a lot of crappy videos instead of better quality videos.

I think it's shocking that a channel can produce 2-3 low quality and unoriginal videos a day and earn substantially more than someone who works their ass off 9-5 in an office. Making money off good content is great but there are so many channels that rake in heaps of money from making poor videos.

People who upload videos have the right to make money through youtube videos. they also have the right to alter the form of their videos in order to ensure extra cash. they also have the right to ask their viewers for ratings, as long as it doesn't become annoying (no annotations etc). 3 things are unacceptable: 1: disguising a money whoring giveaway channel as something else. 2: excessive endorsements. it insults your viewers intelligence. 3: lowering the quality/originality of your content.

The money has totally fucked and dropped the overall quality of most videos. 90 percent of most videos put up by the big channels are garbage. Watch them objectively and without and fanboyism and you'll have to come to the conclusion that they are the same thing over and over. NO originality and really not very entertaining.
