  • So positive, makes my heart hurt almost

  • You know what they almost seem like they cant dance at times but overall they are fine. El certainly has a cool beat anyway.

  • One of the best songs ever ever ever ever made. Excellent guitar play from José Feliciano makes this complete! A song of only 29 years old.

  • AND I ALWAYS THOUGHT ONLY WHITE PEOPLE COULDN'T DANCE !

  • El Debarge really looks sexy in that outfit!!

  • Marty's pelvic movements always get me. He puts so much effort into his choreography. Out of them all, Randy's actually not that bad of a dancer. If you watch closely, he actually paces his steps in rhythm of the beat and he speeds up his tempo when the song fastens in certain parts. Bunny also, for the most part.

  • Beautiful Song!

  • its definately waiting on you....

  • I may sound crazy for this, but as God awful as DeBarge's dancing was, I love watch it.

  • I swear I love this song and I love DeBarge. I wish I was born in the 80s because this is REAL music expressing REAL love. I'm only 18, and I love old school and wouldn't mind listening to it. It's alot better than this trash on the radio today. I love me some El DeBarge all the way baby!! <333 :D

  • No matter how you slice it or break it down, Their dancing was awful. If you're gonna sing like a group, dance like one. Everybody just don't do their own thing. FORTUNATELY, their singing made up for it, especially Els.

  • To the young ones complaining about their 'dancing'. Their moves were designed by motown's choreographer, Cholly Atkins at that time. Their steps, and hand moves were all choreographed to the song lyrics back then. Even their wardrobe was chosen by a studio representative. That's why they always looked presentable....unlike today's artists. No sagging pants and tennis shoes here!!!

  • I love the Jose Feliciano guitar solo on the album version

  • out of them all james debarge and el debarge still look good not hatin or nothing but me i love debarge period but im a bobby debarge and el debarge fan off top

  • look at Marty gettin it!! lol

  • Thanks for posting this!! I remember seeing this edition of Soul Train when it originally aired. They also sang "I like it" during the second half-hour of the show. I also remember Don Cornelius visiting with the group and El DeBarge did a demonstration of how high his voice could go. Needless to say, it was impressive!!

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip From The 413th Edition Of "Soul Train" On May 14, 1983.

  • all this love was a cult classic slow jam and still sounds good 2day!!

  • Love Love Love this song! But their performance here is very uncharacteristic of a Motown act, especially one on Soul Train. Think of the Jacksons, Temptations, & other groups. By the time they got it together, they were being fired from Motown! :(

  • LIGHT SKIN!!!! What teenage girl wasn't in love with El back then. Oh, I'm still loving him. LIIGHHTTT SSSKKIIINNNN!!!!

  • Classic Just got ElDebarge's new CD SecondChance it is HOT! Every song is great...The single Second Chance just got 2 grammy noms. Voice is still pitch perfect falsetto...

  • Th Best R&B made our generation... 80's.

  • On a lighter note...I remember seeing them on Punky Brewster when I was about 5 yrs. old (yes, I'm a young one, lol) and I fell in LOVE with James. That was my baby ever since...at least in my mind.lol.

  • i loved debarge black white boys nobodies on beat lol still i love them

  • @queenunforgettable -___- black white boys not on beat...

calm down. they are on beat. clearly they wouldn't even be able to make a record if they couldn't stay on beat. not to denote your compliment, but I'm seeing too much ignorance on these Debarge Videos.

  • this is timeless....I am SO SO happy I grew up in the 80's..... long before the internet.... cell phones... ipods...i pads...blackberries...back when people knew how to love...LIKED to love...were more personal...more connected...more humane...I fuckin hate this younger gen....thank you debarge....we still love you!! and el you still look great...i saw you on the bet awards.....you go boi!!

  • @musclenigga09 ugh i wish i lived the 80's i cant this stupid music today its okay but i prefer to listen to stuff like this

  • @RiceKrispiesz lol that's what's up RiceKrispiesz... the music back then was so good (the 80's).. There is SOME good music out today though..

  • The DeBarge family may not have been the dancers like The Jacksons, nobody could dance in such perfect unison like The Jacksons could. DeBarge were/are super talented in their own way,all of them play at least 3 to 4 instruments except Bunny who is a damn good songwriter! Nobody could perform like Michael Jackson,he was God-given,however El DeBarge can really dance unlike his siblings, plus El plays Keys, bass, drums, & is a great producer,singer/songwriter,mixer. El is a musical genius!

  • His lil' young self talking about he had some problems LOL They were good but too bad they were strung out on drugs. Maybe that's why danced like that hehehehe.

  • ah halcyon days. i agree it's hard adjusting to debarges being all over the map as stage presence, but you get used to it after a while. it's even charming in a quirky way, like some symbolic awkwardness with the way they were thrust into motown teen idol-hood just to make a living, most of their goods are self-taught, and that eternal unease of being half-br**d. they're a beaut of contradictions, embarrassments, unease, tortured self-destruction, broken dreams...out of which come much beauty

  • one of the coolest songs of all times!!

  • this brings back soo much memories of being a kid and watching soul train and american band stand on saturdays, those were the days...

  • very nice song brings back alot of memories

  • all this love is waiting for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah We all know they had good voices but if they would've had a little bit more showmanship they may have been the next jackson 5. i highly doubt that if the jacksons were rockinin and jamin' in they're own lil worlds on stage as kids they wouldnt be where they are today. This is my jam though!

  • you are all idiots, who cares about the dancing. do you like or buy a song because you like it or because the artist are good dancers. be serious

  • @ncmelnc

    man,you ys sucker.....

  • @ncmelnc I TOTALLY agree!!!

As talented as these people are, people hollering about their dancing. smh

  • @ncmelnc I love the way they dance. They reflect the audience's dancing; everyone following their own groove and interpretation of how the song is effecting them.

    Love it.

  • @ncmelnc ...you said, .""you are all idiots".... got your panties in a bunch! ...show some class, if you don't have any, get some.....

  • i love dis song

  • yeah i agree their dancing is off.. its not that they can't dance they're just not 2gerther one going one way and another is going another way.. they should have had a damn choreographer what was Motown doing

  • "As the sun has its place up in the skyyyyy, I loooove youuuu so deeearlyyyyy"

    Too cool. Excellent track.

  • The Debarges R my fam...The didn't have Joe Jackson 2 whup them thru endless dance routines & beat them in2 rhythmic precision like the Jacksons. It all pretty much happened overnite 4 the Debarges. 1 minute they R singing in their uncle's church in Grand Rapids, next minute they R performing coast 2 coast....

  • @Tarantulisimo True, but they didn't have the supervision to keep them away from the drugs neither.

  • I think Marty secretly dreamed of being a soul train dancer...... he was auditioning here on the DL..lol

  • ELLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

  • Everyone says they had no rhythm and can't dance and I don't think that's true. Bunny and El have quite good rhythm if you ask me. It's just James, Randy and Mark that are a bit... off beat. LOVE all of them though.

    Jess 14yearsoldx

  • What a great looking and singing family..

  • Elllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • James would get HYPE!!! LOL!

  • LOL...They're moving to the beat...but they aren't coordinated and have no precision moves so it looks awkward. But they are on the beat.

  • You know, whenever I watched DeBarge perform, I was always so focused on El, I never noticed that they had no rhythm. (PS: that chick @ 2:48 was grinding so hard, she might as well have laid on the floor.)

  • Definitely not Temptations coordinated! Hell not even New Edition coordinated! But...they get a "pass" cus the music is sooooo good! ha!

  • Haha like I said earlier, they needed a daddy like Joe Jackson 2 whup them thru endless rehearsals & beat them in2 rhythmic percision LoL. But errything happened so fast 4 Debarge...1 minute they R singing in church, next minute they R appearing on national shows & touring with Luther...Lotta pressure 2 perform, not enuff rehearsal time.

  • I'm sure you're right..but damn they couldn't even catch the beat!

  • Debarge is my niggaz and Bunny is fine as hell but almost always during their live performances they are off beat with no rhythm and James just be doing his own thing. But James doing his own thing looks 10x better than wat Bunny, Mark, and Randy be doing lol.

  • the one on the end (right) is gettin down....he has good rhythm

  • Good lord the dancing! I've said it once and i'll say it again, aside from the drugs this groupd could have been bigger then jackson 5 if only they had some damn rhytm. Shame.

  • well everyone is not a great dance , but all they needed was unity!!!! Everyone is doing their own thing. I'm really surprised motown didn't have them work with a choreographer like they did with most of their talent back in the day.

  • @BOOGERMEAT

Motown was slowly dying by this point. So they really couldn't afford that sort of thing. And Berry's heart wasn't into the company, as much, anymore. Especially, since Ms. Diva Diana had gone over to RCA.

  • LMAO OMG THEY HAD ME IN TEARS OVER HERE

  • Haha like I said earlier, they needed a daddy like joe Jackson 2 whup them thru endless rehearsals & beat them in2 rhythmic percision LoL. But errything happened so fast 4 Debarge...1 minute they R singing in church, next minute they R appearing on national shows & touring with Luther...Lotta pressure 2 perform, not enuff rehearsal time

  • Bonnie was so fine.

This was their best classic cut.

  • A beautiful song for sure... my favorite by them... as for the dancing... guess they were freestyling lol.

  • I made the mistake of reading the comments before I watched the video. I was DYING when I watched the video. Ya'll are so WRONG but so on point! I will say my girl Bunny had it together!

  • their performance of that on motown 25 was alot better.

  • they are all, all over the place this is a mess but I love the song

  • damn i guess they missed dance rehersal,,but i love the song too

  • @dhattenisastar They didn't have a father like Joe Jackson 2 beat them in2 rhythmic percision & timing...

  • Lol! Right!

  • They needed a father like Joe Jackson 2 whup them thru endless rehearsals so they would B on point

  • That was my favorite childhood jam back in the day I used to listen to it while hiding under the bed during thunderstorms.

  • James is in La La Land or what? Dang they were so young back then! This song brings back childhood memories...

    Nice POST!

  • May have been the drugs sorry to say.

Thanks for posting this video I love De Barge and their music my jam from waaaaay back in the day!

  • James is always doing his own thing when it comes to dancing.

  • LOL...so true

  • @LLcoolJFan001 Yeah totally and Martyialways provides a good laugh in his attempts to dance.

  • great freakin track...thanks for this post
