The Bf-109 ever shot down in combat was by Frank Tinker, an USAer (American), flying an I-16 for Republican Spain in 1937 at the Battle of Brunete, & he got another Bf-109B later.
It is actually both. During the Spanish Civil War, the Nationalist side nicknamed her Rata ("Rat") and the Republicans Mosca ("Fly"). No relation betwen Mosca and Moscow. It was called Fly due to its small size.
the mosca its a spanish republican airplane made in CCCP and assembly in spain- republican zone when the civil war, NOT national!!... you understand me?
I understand you. Not sure I agree though. Москва́ romanised is Moskva, not Mosca. You are right the Nationalist (not National) did not use it, but that did not stop them from giving her a nickname. I might be wrong though, would you care to post your sources? thanks.
You no romanised. One thinks of reading in Spanish language the word Москва, i read Mosca
Imagine a large wooden box, down from a boat, the plane disassembled inside this absence of information to the people of the content, just put the boxes in the city of forwards, Москва, people say, "Mosca"
The Mosca its the more charismatic in the republic zone and not, very singular concept, fly slowly and rumorous like a old big truck. or tank, when you listen you down
