  • Some nice footage here. Portland International. I know quite a few of the cars as they are based at my home track Pacific Raceways, Kent. Portland and PR are the home tracks of part of SOVREN, our local vintage racing club. See their web site for race dates.

Two corrections. The Cobras are kits with the exception of the red (early) 289 in the show and shine. The Studebaker stock car has a 289 Stude engine not a 283 Chev. Studebaker started using Chev engines some time after this car was built.

  • thanks for the comment. but this studebaker really did have a 283 chevy in it. i know it wasn't stock but i talked to the owner and thats what he said.

  • Pencilneck22, Have you ever been to the Bonneville salt flats? I did it in a mini van and made it up to 105 before it just got too scary. Would love to go in my Mustang (s)!

  • Never did Bonneville. Been in the area though. Bremerton is a bit of a drag, airport tracks usually are but if it's all you got I guess you use it. I'd think that 105 is about tops in a mini-van, no wonder it was scary. SOVREN won't let kit cars of any kind run. He could do a lapping day if he wanted but the roll bar might be problematic. Most tracks/organizations want a SCCA legal roll cage for a roadster and that can be a pain in the *ss for a streetable car. I can understand why he doesn't.

  • My last comment got all messed up, I meant to say, I also race at Pacific Raceways. I have probably seen you and your car! Bremerton is closer but is too slow. My friend owns a Cobra kit car, but refuses to race it. Very nice video,Mach1.

  • this is definitly one of the best days of the year for me. seeing only vintage race cars and muscle cars all in one place. What i live for.

  • Thays the u have 2 be carefull bout. some people SAY their cobras are real, but sometimes they r just kit cars. Anyway, i luv ford, my uncle has a graber green boss 302. O, nd i met david peirson.

  • good vid man 5 stars!!

  • good variaty

  • The pix of most of the race cars looks like it was taken at Laguna Seca.

Folks, if you really like cars of this caliber, you have to take a once in a lifetime trip to that track. You WILL experience sensory overload, even in the parking lot (where Ferraris just about equal the number of Nissans and Toyota. Mmmm...the smell of octane and a symphony of powerful high revving thundering engines, where even in the pit, Ferraris battle Corvettes, Fords and Dodges for the best sounding engine.

  • this was at portland international raceway, Portland Oregon.

  • I've torino's before but never the real McCoy like that.

Real treat to see one so rare!

  • You put a smile on my face, thanks

  • SWEET!!!! YOU HAVE SOUND!!!!!

  • The black racer at 6 minutes looks like the original UOP Shadow that Jackie Oliver drove in the '73/'74 CanAm series.

  • it is. good eye.

  • the red 1961 rambler ambasador is a rare car 5*****

  • thank you. i filmed a lot of rare cars that day.

  • That saab could have been a great looking car! Betters rims and a paint job is all. Man I want that little Mustang. Lots of beautiful cars.

  • thank you! the saab was actually driving by, and she (yes she) saw me filming and actually stoped and backed up to let me do a walk around! haha. she was a nice lady

  • Nice kevin the gt 40's are always dear to my heart one reason the ferrari slayers of the past and present. Now that you met Vic did he offer some discounts on his parts. lol If you dont need the discount I might.

  • lol richard. vic was a very nice guy. and he talked to me for a long while to. so i didnt have to wait in long lines to get a 15 second artograph. and yeah ford was going to buy ferrari in 1962 then enzo ferrari pulled out of the deal suddenly. and ford was upset and set out to create a machine to blow them out of the water at lemans. and the end result was one of the best machines ever crafted.

  • Aweome video!!! 5 stars!!!!!

  • back in "63" or "64" I remember seeing a GT 40 come driving down main street in my home town! The early studybakers had 283' and 327's that where studebaker engines. The first vet that I got to drive was a 63 "Z06" back in 67. glad you got to use the "wayback machine" for a day!

  • yeah i saw probably 15 GT40's and at least 20 cobras that day. im sure a lot of them were original. for example one cobra had no paint and it was all aluminum. so it was real. the red 427 was real. and the GT40's were real. and the studebaker i showed with the 283, it was a chevy corvette engine, i talked to the owner. cool guy. i also met vic edelbrock in person. was a great day for me being around all those cars!!

  • the 68 torino was a good example of how nascar has changed. all these new cars are just a waste of time because thee old nascar was exciting because the car with the most power won, now its just who gets lucky enough to win.

  • great video! that place looked like alot of fun, and there was some really nice cars there.

  • back in the days when nascar wasnt shit

  • yeah seriously. it was cool watching them on a roadcourse. no wrecks. would be a shame if one of those original cars were wrecked.

  • You've been busy, Kevin! Great cars! The track sounds remind me of Sebring a lot. That original GT-40..I have a 1:12 scale model of it, in the original Gulf colors of blue and orange! Cool!...I think I caught a very quick glimpse of an early 50's Lincoln..maybe a 52?

Very nice..even got Vic Edelbrock on camera..my favorite car had to be the red 58 Ford retractable hardtop! Great work! :) Jack

  • hey jack. you are good! i messed up on filming that 52 lincoln. but i put it in anyway. you are right though, it is a 52 and he even raced on the track! hey, what kind of engine would that car have? was the 460 even out yet?

  • Thanks, Kevin! That's the first OHV 8, 317.5 cubic inches, 160 hp at 3900 rpm, 284 ft. lb. of torque at 1800 rpm, compression at 7.5 to 1so it was a very understressed, slightly oversquare design, 3.80 bore, 3.50 stroke. A car Lincoln would win the Baja California race in Mexico with! Cool car, Kevin, and a favorite of mine! :) Jack

  • and yeah, after vic saw me looking at his #4 nascar stock car there he came over and started talking to me! i even shook his hand! lol

  • Yeah, the great ones are always self effacing and nice guys! Great you had the opportunity to meet and talk with him! :) Jack

  • Hello Kevin! So much unusual stuff! Not many would show the SAAB Sonnet, a Hudson sedan, along side of Shelbys, GT's Nascar veteran cars, and every potpourri you did. The stills mixed in with the moving pictures gives the mind a moment to 'catch up' to what the eyes saw. And the surprises! Not knocking the more often seen makes/models on You Tube, it is refreshing to see a Studebaker TAXI featured. What is up your sleeve next Kevin? It will be sweet to see!

  • This is a very decent sundry of old cars of all sorts of tastes and types. Anybody who likes old cars will surly have seen something that catches their eyes here, or bring back a memory! Thanks Kevin.

  • thank you howie. it was a fun day. lots of nice cars. good racing.
