@mnickers8954...... Thankyou for your honesty michelle, i thought you sounded exactly as you look " cute". You are right, we have a lot to learn about sea lice, as time progresses i'm sure we will know more, infact there are many studies/meetings happening as i type. Thankyou for being a critical thinker .
I do not wish to lie and I most definitely wish to provide clarity where it is needed. although I wish I was perfect, I am not but will correct myself as appropriate and be held accountable for words that I've spoken and written. As I continue to researching this topic know I will come across new information that may be at odds with previous statements. this is a natural part of dialogue and a society closing information and understanding gaps.
i had just gotten out of the water when i was asked if i had picked up any sea lice and I answered thinking of the tattoos on my cheeks and of the biting cold. I remember answering this question because i felt the awkward pang of being uncertain that my reference was clear, realizing that perhaps a serious response had been the intention of the posed question. My answer was awkward but it and your response to it spotlight an important gap in the general understanding sea lice transfer to hosts.
it is amazing how different your own voice sounds to you when it is recorded and you hear it played back. Accordingly, when I first was watching footage clips from this day, for some parts i didn't recognize my own voice, not remembering saying the things i heard the voice in the video clips saying. . From watching the clip I know it is me in fact speaking even if I can not remember all my answers exactly. There are some answers however I remember much more specifically, including my crock.
There are a lot of questions, "facts" under contention and suspicion., including how sea lice attaches to salmon. How specific are lice to hosts? Subspecies level, specie level, genus, ??? Could a sea lice really transfer from the waters surrounding the fish farms to a human? Where can we look for the answer to these questions?
ajk847, yes, you have correctly pointed out that i did not have sea lice from the farms on me. In fact, all of us in the video claiming to have sea lice are merely infected with temporary tattoos, Thank you for bringing this important point out. It provides a wonderful opportunity for dialogue.
@nuffzed..... No I didn't get there early, infact the farm I looked at had been there for 5 years prior. The surronding area was full of life and because of this, the site has sat for 10 years. I don't know about other farms, but the ones you are filming are in a prime spot for salmon farming, very little sea lice and strong currents. It has a sandy bottom and has life sporadically through it.
@darkisland...... For sure I know that channel well and the bulk of it is a sand bottom. Parts of it have amazing growth and other parts don't. Some of the other parts that don't are not even close to a farm. All these guys did was map the bottom prior to the protest and then filmed the parts they found earlier. I've looked at the bottom with goverment officials with a ROV and found amazing life right beside a farm in that channel. Sooooo, nice try guys
@AJK847 Nice try indeed. It doesn't take long for the amazing life to be contaminated and killed off after the introduction of a salmon farm into its habitat. You just got there early.
@AJK847 There would not be destruction RIGHT BESIDE the farm, the ocean is constantly moving to get an accurate sample you must go to where the current is caught, there the sediment from farms settles. So nice try darkisland...
@salmonaresacred Yes. The poison is accumulating in the areas beneath the fish farms and around it in cracks and holes. This was recently proven by "The Green Warriors of Norway" who sent down a submarine to test the sediment under the farms. Shrimp, other shellfish and fish, get loaded with toxins from the farms. :(
Salmon farms placement is partially chosen by depth and water flow. Not all areas are equal as far as the ocean floor is concerned. The ocean floor at a shallower depth generally has a lot more life compared to some deeper or muddy areas. Not a lot of info or credentials included in these videos... definatly nothing to prove any worth to some of the claims.
LOL michele nickerson says she picked up some lice on her and it didn't tickle, what a crock of shite, Im sure if that was true you would have it on film. You folks have a legitamite concern on depleting fish stocks in not only BC ,but the world for that matter, but I have to say you are not completely honest and at times just plain lying. And for that reason it is hard for me to take you seriously.
Record return of Pink salmon this past Aug?Sept 2009 in the campbell river rivers as well the same awesome return in the broughton area. Someone explain that to me, if farms are killing wild salmon as you claim why the awesome return? Water tempature and low water levels in the Fraser river were the main factor in a low return of sockeye.

Unfortunately not all North Island natives support Ms Morton. A lot of them work on the salmon farms and are not ashamed to do so..

@mnickers8954 No. The answer is no. Sea lice will not attach itself to a human host.

Also, Swimmer picking up lice is pure Bullsh*t. Patently ridiculous.
If someone had a sealice ON them, unless they saw it, they wouldn't even know it was there.
