MAN... THIS SONG WOULD MAKE A DEAD BODY MOVE... I REMEMBER WHEN MY SISTER TOOK ME TO SEE THIS, I WAS KILLIN'EM AT 5 YEARS OLD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE WALKWAY. I STILL GOT MY BEAT STREET VHS
This was one of those inspiring endings in movie history that pumped me up as a kid. a totally feel good moment. Many forms of creative expression shown in this clip. I always loved when the breakers, poppers, and lockers hit the stage and the music breaks down with a "break" chant in the track to reflect the change in dance styles.
I just loved it. This is my favorite part of the movie. I was 9 years old when this movie came out. Break dancing, old school hip hop. That what rap was about, partying and having a goodtime. These days they like to talk about killing and shooting each other. I can't stand that gangsta rap crap. R.I.P. Hip Hop
We all rely on computers weather its a i phone, driod, mac, pc, gps, on star etc. melle mell was way before his time makes you wonder has he been here before. and seen the future,,,,,,,,,,,,,think about it
by drugs, alcohol, And Religiously everyones soul's are being either saved or lost melle said polluted we are losing more soul too hell than saving one's to go to heaven. Nothing any more is pure. Every day people live in terror, like melle said even today. WE GOT TO SUFFER AS THINGS GET ROUGHER, AND THAT THE REASON WE GOT TO GET TOUGHER,We do that ever day for our family's and loved one's But check out he said dont be aslave to no computer,,, its to late the whole world is in the rapture
melle also said what is it worth, And then the president forgot about earth oh man this deep Remember people New Orleans the F***ing President didn't do shit, and kida still in africa still need food water and support, Commercials send a nickel a dime today, hell is it really helping that cause??? Fly's in they face, living like mice, and even there houses make are ghetto's look nice. Wow,,This was a 1984 movie nothing has changed. Every one's body's are used and abuse, Peoples mind posined
Its kinda scary as melle mel was rapping he said a lot of things that made since which came true today ,man killing man, the news always brings nothing but tragic topics quote hold world caught on fire ,,,,,,,,Sept 911 which he stated rise and fall of a great empire twin towers, which the whole world morned and was on fire people were upset, and left in shambles, The goverment trying and experimenting every day on cloning, covering up secrects from the skys space and beyond.
Did you all pay attention to the lyrics from 2:59 - 4:39? Now you know why the record companies aren't pushing real hip-hop. Real Hip-Hop, like that which was depicted from 2:59 - 4:39 is the kind that will wake people up from their slumber
I aware man I watched this shit a million times and I've just noticed Special K lipsynced Melle Mel's verse lol or maybe I'm just tired. Still in all Nas definately took some of his style from Melle Mel. This song bumps in my iPod today. The whole soundtrack. This and The Last Dragon soundtrack is pure fire.
Melle Mel ripped it..he said minds are corrupted and souls are poluted superiority complex is deep rooted.....learn from your past and live for the future and dont be a slave to no computer...this was 84...damn!!!!..hip hop was telling us something for real...
You hit it right on the head man. We need real hip hop back because hip hop has been commercialized and profited off by corporations. They use it against us the same people who made! Ghetto struggles aren't ending, in fact they are magnetized by the violent and misogynist them portrayed in the rap on the radio!
a Time Capsule
Thanks!

the gospel song has beautiful lyrics
we are the harvest of a bitter seed
some of us fall, some of us bleed
but we are the future, we will succeed, believe it, believe it
we are the miracle, we are the strong
we are the right that came from wrong
we made hope into our song, believe it, believe it

Beat Street Breakdown, Rrrrite!
Beat Street
The king of the beat
You see him rocking that beat from across the street
And Huh Huh!
Beat Street is a lesson too, because you can’t let the Streets beat you! HUU!
Well a picture can express a thousand words to describe all the beauty of life you give
And if the world was yours to do over, I know you’d paint a better place to live
Where the colours would swirl and the boys and girls can grow in peace and harmony

I'm the one in the red hood and gray pants :)
I also chilled out with Lee (Robert Taylor) after the movie came out. Lee was really nice to me. I'll always remember that about him.
That part was filmed at 163st & Intervale Ave... Bronx, NY 10459

2:58-4:50 it weird how all that is still true to this day, yet it has multiplied double!
Ghetto strugles just the same, will it ever end or will the cycle continue without end?
we need a movement a great hip hop movement again, the REAL hip hop though. it needs to be resurected.
