In my apartment building theres 3 networks that aren't secure, pretty foolish if you ask me because anyone nearby can leech off them, I did for a month or two until I got my own connection :D

If they use the predefned router Wi-Fi password then those can be generated.They are spread everywhere on the internet. There are algoritms for some router brands. That's how i got into my next doors internet.

It's really not that important to change your router-settings password, since strangers shouldn't have access to your network in the first place unless they've cracked your WPA/WEP. The most secure option is to filter devices by MAC address.

That's why I have my wireless MAC filter enabled (I know about spoofing, hold on), and the router uplink going into my gateway machine that uses VPN verification to ensure you are really the guy I want. Why not WPA2? - you may ask. The thing is I have a few legacy devices around that don't support it and folks coming over once in a while that I don't want to invent new passwords for all the time. Easiest way to steal a router that doesn't have WEP key or anything.

1. Find an unprotected network

2. Run the ipconfig command (if on windows)

3. Acquire the ip address and type it into your web browsers address bar

4. Enter said username and password

5. Go and change the networks encryption to WEP and...
