  • Sutton Foster = Cute

    Patti LuPone = HOLY SHITTTT!!

  • LuPone<<<Foster

  • "You're Mickey Mouse" - written in the early 1930s, before Mickey had made his color debut (he existed by this time, just not in color for another year or so).

  • Great!

  • Really? Are you really going to criticize Patti LuPone? That's just not right.

  • "You're the purple light of a summer night in Spain." Wow. Porter was a genius.

  • doing this @school this fall- gonna b AWESOME!!

  • I like Patti but not the way she pronounces some words and sometimes her enunciation is lacking.

  • very sharp on the last note patti

  • ver sharp on the last note patti

  • She's sharp on her last night.

  • @ChelexBebop *note

  • this song is soo funny lol i actually have to recreate this song :) dedicating it to my principal

  • The 2011 group needs to do a recording so I don't need to keep listening to unbearable Patti Lupone croon this. Sutton Foster is infinitely better.

  • @jldissel Patti LuPone is MUCH better than Sutton Foster!

  • @cfronck ... AMEN to THAT !! Sutton Foster's sound is maybe a bit brighter than Patti LuPone's... but the power behind LaPone's voice just cannot be matched by anyone except for maybe the Great Ethel Merman herself!

  • @jldissel you always have the option to not click on it

  • My friends school did this tonight and it was sooo amazing! I cant stop singing the songs :)

  • I'm going to see the rivival when I go up to N.Y.C soon, I've heard Joel Gray is outstanding in it.

  • @cha5 I saw it, He is amazing.

  • @triplehrox08 Amazing that he's in his seventies and is still in superb dancing shape, I'll be suprised if the Anything Goes revival doesn't net him a Tony award.

  • You jelly.

  • I LOVE this musical. 'Nuff said. I really want to see the revival, like REALLY bad. I played Reno in my senior year of high school, and it was such a blast! I still talk about it to this day, haha! XD I've got videos on my channel if anyone wants to see. :)

  • I play Ching (Chinese #1), but I still have this song stuck in my head. XD

  • Im playing Reno for my school. amazing musical. really shows off all aspects of singing, acting and dancing :)<3

  • I'm in this show at my high school. I play Moonface.

  • @MANEATINGWREATH

    Same im playing billy XD

  • @MANEATINGWREATH

Isn't friendship so much fun to sing? :)

  • 3 people are not the top

  • Am I the only one who thinks LuPone is totally out of tune at the very end. She hits the note 'TOP' perfectly and then seems to sharpen it by the end. Just sounds very odd...

  • @fountainchain126 Rather common for stage musical singers! They are hired first for their theatricality. If they can sing at all in an animated way, that's a plus! Stage musical composers have to match the vocal range of the stars. Case in point is Ethel Merman. She could sing loud. But not always in tune and in time. :)

  • @fountainchain126 yeah now that you mention it, she goes up nearly a half step. haha

  • i love this song

  • Audtioning for the role of Reno for my school. I am so excited!!!!!!!!

  • I cant believe that my school is doing this, and i especially cant believe that they cast me as Billy. This is going to be AWESOME. My favorite song by far. :)

  • Whistler was a painter, partly famous for his painting of his mother. Camembert is a very yummy Brie-like cheese. :)

  • @holadams

thanks! those two things, I couldn't figure out by myself.

  • what is

    Whistler's mama?

    camembert?

  • @simhopp Whistler was an artist who painted a famous picture of his mother. Camembert is a type of cheese

  • One must remember in 1933 all of the items mentioned were at the "top" of society or they would not have included in the lyrics.

  • Does anyone know where I can get the instrumental for this song? I need either a mp3 or youtube video of it. I need this for a duet I'm going to be doing and I cannot find the the instrumental anywhere. Please help.

(I love this song by the way. Such beautiful singing and lyrics ♥)

  • My group are doing this next year, we auditioned last weekend, I had to do this one for my Billy Crocker audition, it's a really fun song to do, probably the best one in the show.

  • AAAH YOU'RE BROCCOLI. I LOVE BROCCOLI. hahaha

  • muito legal. nilopolis rj.

  • Great! I'm singing this for a play

  • I can't seem to get enough of this song! XD

  • If you dare to "be the change you want to see in the world" then you're the top! ;)

  • He just called her Ghandi. Hes old.

Then he called her a Turkey dinner. XD

    No matter, beautiful song.

  • @MsHenryTheGreat Well, I'm pretty sure they're working under the assumption that their "words poetic" will be pretty pathetic. Old man? Turkey dinner? Pathetic indeed. But it's the thought that counts. ;P

  • That is as good as a Broadway show tune gets. Are you with me on this, people?

  • where can a find the music at 2:17 ?

  • my school is doing this production and i love this song. so cute and sweet :]

  • Search 'You're The Top Reigate Grammar School' for a really really really good version!

  • isnt there a version with glissando on the trumpets?

  • I like this hilarious melody! It gives me lots of energy and comfort.Good musicals last forever. Thanks for uploading this treasure, which deserves the title of a masterpiece.

  • @Operalover12002 Agreed...this song is good for getting me in a great mood ♥♥

  • lol I was thinking of using this song for my audition on feb 20th! Break a leg!

  • how'd you do?

  • sorry...too early haha

  • An amazing musical piece to go with an amazing musical. No one can deny the power that this song has over one's vocal, which is brought to life once the joyous notes are played!

  • can u see this?

  • I love this musical this and The Drowsy Chaperon.

  • pretty damn good stuff. I've been in a few musicals so I can really appreciate performances like this.

  • I was Bonnie in this play! LOVVVVVVVVVVVE it!

  • I'm doing this play, today is the last day we have the show

  • Fantastic, I can't believe that this was written over 50 years ago and we are still listening to and enjoying the music and it is being performed by groups around the world - Cole Porter what a great writer !!!

  • @wartzki more than 50 years like 76 years good old mr.porter made this great song

  • @wartzki 50? Try 75.

  • @wartzki somehow, it still hasn't toured the 'states and gone to Spokane where I can see it

  • Man Howard is really good at this play! I think he has a better voice in this play than he is as the Phantom because he has too much Vibrato. Though he is a great phantom.

  • i did this play in school best song evea
