"You're Mickey Mouse" - written in the early 1930s, before Mickey had made his color debut (he existed by this time, just not in color for another year or so).
@cfronck ... AMEN to THAT !! Sutton Foster's sound is maybe a bit brighter than Patti LuPone's... but the power behind LaPone's voice just cannot be matched by anyone except for maybe the Great Ethel Merman herself!
@triplehrox08 Amazing that he's in his seventies and is still in superb dancing shape, I'll be suprised if the Anything Goes revival doesn't net him a Tony award.
I LOVE this musical. 'Nuff said. I really want to see the revival, like REALLY bad. I played Reno in my senior year of high school, and it was such a blast! I still talk about it to this day, haha! XD I've got videos on my channel if anyone wants to see. :)
Am I the only one who thinks LuPone is totally out of tune at the very end. She hits the note 'TOP' perfectly and then seems to sharpen it by the end. Just sounds very odd...
@fountainchain126 Rather common for stage musical singers! They are hired first for their theatricality. If they can sing at all in an animated way, that's a plus! Stage musical composers have to match the vocal range of the stars. Case in point is Ethel Merman. She could sing loud. But not always in tune and in time. :)
I cant believe that my school is doing this, and i especially cant believe that they cast me as Billy. This is going to be AWESOME. My favorite song by far. :)
Does anyone know where I can get the instrumental for this song? I need either a mp3 or youtube video of it. I need this for a duet I'm going to be doing and I cannot find the the instrumental anywhere. Please help.
(I love this song by the way. Such beautiful singing and lyrics ♥)
My group are doing this next year, we auditioned last weekend, I had to do this one for my Billy Crocker audition, it's a really fun song to do, probably the best one in the show.
@MsHenryTheGreat Well, I'm pretty sure they're working under the assumption that their "words poetic" will be pretty pathetic. Old man? Turkey dinner? Pathetic indeed. But it's the thought that counts. ;P
I like this hilarious melody! It gives me lots of energy and comfort.Good musicals last forever. Thanks for uploading this treasure, which deserves the title of a masterpiece.
An amazing musical piece to go with an amazing musical. No one can deny the power that this song has over one's vocal, which is brought to life once the joyous notes are played!
Fantastic, I can't believe that this was written over 50 years ago and we are still listening to and enjoying the music and it is being performed by groups around the world - Cole Porter what a great writer !!!
Man Howard is really good at this play! I think he has a better voice in this play than he is as the Phantom because he has too much Vibrato. Though he is a great phantom.
Sutton Foster = Cute
Patti LuPone = HOLY SHITTTT!!

Really? Are you really going to criticize Patti LuPone? That's just not right.

The 2011 group needs to do a recording so I don't need to keep listening to unbearable Patti Lupone croon this. Sutton Foster is infinitely better.

One must remember in 1933 all of the items mentioned were at the "top" of society or they would not have included in the lyrics.
