  • i remembered willie horton playing for my hometown mayaguez indians,was leading the league with 12 homers when he received the call that his parents had die in a car accident,it was a very sad day for the fans in mayaguez....god bless you willie

  • The story about Mr. Horton going into the middle of the riots, wearing his Tigers uniform, in an attempt to facilitate peace is one of the greatest sports stories ever, one of the greatest human stories ever. It's sad that Detroit still burned, but Willie Horton can live the rest of his life knowing that of all the stories to emerge from that troubling time, his was the one that most clearly shows the good things people are capable of, even when times are bad. It is very inspirational.
