You are correct. The mix is slightly differnet on the original Odds and Sods. There is also an extended (by about :20) version of Now I'm A Farmer on youtube as well. I have no idea what they were released on....
I'm a big fan of this Odds and Sods song. I remember first buying the album, and this was the first thing I heard. After the first few listens to it, I really started loving this song. I love Keith Moon's drumming, and I love the distorted guitar, and the sound effects are funny. Great story too.
Now, this song gives me a little sad feeling, because I miss the 70's who, and I miss buying who albums I had never heard before, and the feelings they gave me.
i agree...it was the first track on the odds and sodds version i bought as well...great song...bass is amazing too...mixed a little low, but if yo upay attention to it you'll see how good it is
With a musical genius like Townshend around, John was never gonna get the spotlight. But he wrote some great songs that all had a distinct quality to them.
this song screams "John wrote this", with the brass, unusual diction, and lack of guitar solo. not to mention he's singing lead.

This is not the version I grew up with on Odds & Sods. It's been remixed and sped up.

Odds and Sods was a good album of The Who's fun songs. A cheer you up kind of record on a gray winter midwest day in days gone by.
