  • For that reason the song "heaven must be missing an angel", was written.

  • @akibubba1 Judith is still alive. She sang in Sydney at "Carols in the Domain" on December 17. It's on youtube! She has also released two albums in the past few months called Ephiphany and Colours of My Life. No need to grieve, my friend,

  • Simply the best.

  • This is my all time favourite song.

  • Most Wonderful Voice and Song!

  • These clips of the Seekers bring back such fond memories of my childhood - an innocence that somehow softened the raw energy of the pop music that engulfed the world at that time. The beautiful voice of Judith and the lovely harmonies of Keith, Bruce and Athol produced a unique sound that was a real pleasure to listen to and more importantly crossed all age groups - unusual for that time. Thank you!

  • No question about it, She can flat out sing. Effortless accuracy, quality and power. The fellows have stand out talent too. They have no gimmick, other than a unique, great sound/harmony that will never be duplicated, even closely, by anyone else but these 4 people.

  • Hey Proculled so glad the song brings some comfort to you. It was written at a very exciting time in my life and I was expressing the great feelings I had about the future back then.

  • Great to watch and listen to this wonderful group once more..I enjoyed lots of bands in the 60's..and the Seekers were great!!..Judith Durham is Lovely and so talented!!

  • If I was only allowed one record this would be the one!...a lovely song by a

beautiful woman with an enchanting voice.....what more could any man ask

    for?...thanks for posting it

  • I just can't get enough of these wonderful singers. Have been listening for over 40 years and enjoy them more and more as time goes by.

Long live the Seekers and their beautiful music.

  • I love this music and all the performers.Sylk

  • @sobelievable

Thanks so much - this song covers one of the most rewarding times in my life - just seventeen at the time - lots of crochets over the stave since then.

  • I've was a Seekers fan before I got to write this song with JD. Great times with a great lady that I will never forget.

    DR

  • @sobelieveable Your beautiful song is about to get a lot of additional attention in the months ahead. Congratulations, friend! This song will always one of my favorites.

  • WOW, Isn't it amazing their paths crossed, if for a short time, to form the Seekers. This song is so Iconic and meaningful of the 60s, Fashion, Hippies, sex drugs n rock n roll, and Vietnam.

  • Deservedly getting close to half a million hits; a hidden, rare gem not quite so hidden now! :)

  • Judith 1967 Colours of my Life ("Red & Blue"): Crimson (red) was always Harvard. Blue is always considered a healing color as that of a young doctor. Football days are over. "It's all right." "Loving you has shown me the "Colours of my life".

A Jamieson Note: "Blew the colors in my heart." That must have been some impact. He must have been an exceptional doctor. It was close.

Please refer to: "All I Can Remember" and "Memories".

    With loving eyes & heart,

    All the best,

    Jamieson (Peter)

  • great arrangement sung by one of the top voices in history - R.I.P. Judith, you were one of a kind, with a supporting cast of geniuses to boot - true class acts like this one are a thing of the past, but the music will live forever...

  • ¡hermosa,...voz,y la musica,que bonita musica,excelente....por aquellos recuerdos!

  • The voice of an absolute angel! Thank you for posting this and helping us relive precious memories!

  • Judith has an amazing voice.... She is beautiful!

  • Thanks for preserving and sharing this great music.

  • Judith, I love you

  • A lovely song sung by a lovely woman.

  • @kcphillips1000 I cannot believe I didn't hear their music more often than I did!! All of these memories are flooding into my brain right now - they had such a great harmony!! I feel sad for the people who missed this time in history of flowerchildren and peacerocks (although I was preschool - preschoolers love music of course) and I'd hear these songs but not know who sang them back then!!!!

  • How very unfortunate that Judith's ego broke up the best vocal group ever to come out of Australia. Hope she's satisfied.

  • Ainda era uma criança quando ouvi pela primeira vez. É maravilhoso voltar no tempo com eles.

  • The greatest thing ever to come out of Australia.... sorry Rolf !!!

  • WONDERFUL!!

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful, both their music and Judith. I'm thankful for being able to listen to all of their songs on here. I've been listening for many years. There will never be anything like them again, long live the Seekers

  • WONDERFUL group everlasting talents, thanks for sharing.

  • How can 10 people dislike this? As already said below, surely this is as good as it gets! Simple yet wonderful :)

  • @vohor1 Heavy metal dead heads no doubt. Just ignore.

  • Judith is the singer? Well, she's great.

  • Yes Ms Durham was very good but can we please get some prasie for the 3 guys. They were very good musicians and singers. An excellent example of ensemble singing under her lead.

  • I'm not talking Continents.I'm talking humanity.Judith I will find your path one day.

  • Australia has given the world the most beautiful voices with Judith Durham, Olivia Newton-John and Kylie Minogue

  • Listen carefully and then listen again--this song paired with this singer may be as goods as music ever gets.

  • @McMillian5 You are so right about the perfect pairing...of course, Judith co-wrote the song with David Reilly, so I guess she was very invested in the message. Excellent comment! Beautiful performance.

  • I love the Seekers...and find now i'm older that this is fast becoming my favourite Seeker song.

  • @Baskerville22 agree with you -- I haved this more as I got older!!

  • ronbo,,she is amazing??

  • Kakva zena!!!

  • July 3rd--Happy Birthday, Judith~! Thank you for sharing with us the colours of your life...

  • God she's amazing !!

  • When I showed this to my good friend who is an avid Dusty fan, he exclained, "This is when they used to write real songs." Indeed.

  • Judith Durham puts disgusting Ga Ga in the trash heap

  • @momike99 Wow! Lighten up on Ga Ga.

  • Judith co-wrote this song, with David Reilly

  • @Baskerville22

Yes she did and spending several years working with JD as a seventeen year old were some of the happiest times of my life.

    David Reilly

  • Why not Dame Judith Durham?

  • @bra10zico Exactly.

On the Queen's next birthday, she deserves to recieve that honour if she can for her services to music.

  • @bra10zico

but even though as an Australian and still a subject of the Queen under the commonwealth can the Queen give her the title or is there an Australian Equivalent that could be given to her?

  • judith and her voice is a national treasure!!!!!

  • One of the best voices to date!

  • The first I remember of the Seekers was "A World of Our Own" which got some radio play in Canada in the 60's - the harmonies and Judith's voice just grabbed me. Still have a big vinyl collection of the early Seekers. Have to get around to capturing them one of these days.

  • My absolute favorite band Judith has an angelic voice

  • What beautiful, rich voices!

  • Christo47734, das ist wahr!

  • GREAT VOICE,WONDERFUL.

  • This is SO beautiful

  • So very very lovely!!

  • Sends chills down my spine this old song, so many memories of my growing up years

  • she must have been born in heaven and sent here to show us how beautiful it is.

  • @play52ful How true!

  • As a child i loved Miss Durhams voice pure and emotive, i feel truly blessed to hear it again, i feel she is a true angel i thank you Judith Durham and youtube from my soul for giving joy to millions around the world x

  • mooie tekst, doet me terug aan vervlogen tijden denken,

    prachtige stem!!!!!

  • Judith is an angel!

  • judith must be an angel.

  • wer dieses lied nicht mag, ist selbst dran schuld. welch eine stimme judith hat.

  • judith...voice of an angel..and there again 9 guys accidentally clicked the dislike button

  • das lied liebe ich auch

  • GIVES ME THE CHILLS LIKE NOBODY ELSE, NOT THE PRETTIEST GIRL BUT SHE HAD PURITY AND INOCENCE THAT DOESNT EXIST ANY MORE. I HAVE SUCH VIVID MEMORIES AS A CHILD, SITTING IN THER FRONT ROOM WITH MY EAR TO THE RADIOGRAM

  • Music like this gives me the chills.....so hauntingly beautiful...

  • I am not young but Judith has the clearest and finest voice I have ever heard. I play her videos all the time to relax me. Never ever get tired of them.

  • I saw The Seekers live on tour with Roy Orbison in the sixties, still never heard a voice better than Judith Durham.AL

  • The Seekers, especially Judith as she soars, truly have SOUL.

  • magestic

  • Judith has such a compelling, soaring voice. Unheard of nowadays with all the junk that passes for "good singing."

  • the very reason she is using her hands and head is because she is A REAL SINGER,not some computer enhanced wannabe. and i love her .

  • @brianmorganbarney You are so right!

  • wonderful .no group could match these today.pity they cant be advertised more.lets discover them again.

  • @antiguaannie This is the best place to advertise them. Here people all over the world can find them and many have discoverd and rediscoverd them.Young and old are finding there way here.

  • I could listen to Judith sing all day. It's transfixing. What a beautiful voice....

  • I can't believe that I am just now discovering The Seekers. My god, the only song I have ever heard of theirs up till now was Georgie Girl. I thought they were just another American hippie group. What a fool.

  • @Mufaso1000

    It's never too late.

    Aren't they great?

  • After listening to Judith...it becomes so apparent that so many of today's female pop stars are doing something other than "singing". Each word in Judith's songs is clearly ennunciated and the notes sung are bell-like. There is no sliding & slurring of notes...and certainly none of the shouting that marks out most of the current 'divas'. And if we look at sweetness & modesty........ Need I go further ?

  • @Baskerville22 Well said. I saw her speaking in an interview after she recovered from that awful crash crash. She said her voice was "old-fashioned" and that she didn't go "oooblee ooblee" all over the place. She just sings it as it should be sung, and for that we are all very grateful!

  • @howzitgoin1970

I think, in our admiration for Judith, that we tend to underestimate the 3 lads in the group. I really think that they were fundamental in choosing & sometimes writing the material that let Judith display the full quality of her singing voice. I think also that those 3 were 'gentlemen' at a time (the 1960s) when so much of the popular culture & modes of personal behaviour were 'going to the dogs'. She always seemed perfectly at ease in their company.

  • @Baskerville22 Once again, you are right on the money. It's remarkable that these guys, first, did treat her with respect as they did--and still do. Each of them is so talented in his own way. To me, the four of them make a Supergroup of sorts. I don't think we will see the likes of them again in our lifetimes. Happy new year from Louisiana, USA!

  • she had a real voice, unlike many of the bimbos these days with their bling and limos (pimp wagons)

  • What can you say, she is unbelievable!

  • What stupendous talent. Their harmonies are the true gold that all humans should be proud of.

  • What a pure voice!

  • Sorry, misterdakman, for plagiarising your "gem" word [embarrassed icon] ! I think my musical tastes have kept up with the times: I bought my wife a Lady Gaga CD for her birthday this year which my teenage daughters thought was cool (after they'd got over the shock!). The Seekers were my first love though and thanks to the trigger provided by Proculled my wife is buying me some Seekers goodies for Christmas now. Hope to have 3 more Seekers fans by the New Year! Great work Proculled! :)

  • @vohor1 I wish the companies I have hanging over my head here could read your comment and see that Youtube videos boost sales of music. Thanks for the kind words, they made my day.

  • @Proculledtwo Hence your new moniker? Very glad to have given you a boost; finding this treasure trove has certainly given me one! Plus, via my dear wife's Christmas shopping, some cash for the copyright holders; and, I hope, The Seekers themselves. Plus - who knows?! - cash from my kids when they start downloading Seekers stuff onto their ipods.

  • @vohor1 I have other channels here but my Seekers channels are Proculled and Proculledtwo. If I answer with Proculled here all my comments get pulled to the top here under uploader comments and I don't want that.

  • @Proculledtwo Noted! Given the multi-millions visits your Seekers uploads have achieved is there no persuading the BBC of the wisdom of releasing a DVD of the farewell concert (assuming they haven't wiped the tapes which they had a habit of doing back then!)? There's clearly a ready market for it!

  • @vohor1 I asked Graham Simpson that works with Judith some time ago but he said he knew of no plans to release it on DVD.The rumor goes that the BBC had deleted their mastertape with this concert but a copy was found in Australia in 1997 (british tv history.dot.com)and this got released in 1999 on VHS.Companies are complayning people are not buying so much CD and DVD's now but they will not give people what they want and let mastertapes gather dust

    instead.

  • @Proculledtwo Many thanks for all that. It's good to know that there is at least a copy still in existence. Is there somewhere effective that we fans can email to start a campaign for that DVD to be made and released? Is Judith for or against it do you think?

  • @vohor1 What Judith thinks I don't know.Maybe someone could start a Facebook group to pressure the BBC.But Graham thought it would be a theird party that would release it not the BBC.That happend with the VHS copy.

  • @Proculled As mentioned on the "I'll never find another you" thread, I'm planning to write to the BBC; are you OK with me directing them to the multi-million hits your uploads have achieved (as they make for a pretty powerful argument)? You have mentioned that you've had hassle from some companies, though, and I wouldn't want to make matters worse for you!

  • @vohor1 The years I've had the videos here I have expected them to be gone any time. But the BBC and EMI have left them alone. These companies are also here on Youtube. It's american companies that for some unknown reason I have some claims from.I have no doubt now that the videos have boosted the sales of Seekers music and made many discover and rediscover them.Judith says half of the emails she gets is from the US.

  • @vohor1 I don't think The Seekers are often on american tv so I think people have come over Youtube videos with them and found Judith's home page and written to her.6,7 million views on these farewell concert videos shows there is some interest but I don't think it will be enough to pressure any release.Graham Simpson at Musicoast should also be told people want it released. But then I think he knows but maybe can't do anything about it.But you can direct them to the interest there is here.

  • @vohor1 When I had first uploaded the videos it was like a flood that hit me with private mails here.I never dreamed of all the emotion the videos would release.

People where begging me for copies and offered a very lot of money for one.

But I said no to all,I can't supply the world with this concert on DVD.

  • @Proculledtwo Well, I've sent my email to the BBC and will see what, if anything, transpires by way of reply. Thank you very much for all your replies to me; and of course for the uploads. I wholeheartedly agree with your approach, too; any DVDs should be legitimate in the hope that even now some income might derive from them for the benefit of The Seekers themselves. My main emotion on finding this treasure trove of yours: this music is not only just as good as I remembered but even better!

  • @vohor1 I hope you don't expect to much.By the way did you know that the only known copy of the 35mm film "The world of The Seekers" was found in a garbage bag in a garage?Judith kept the reels in her bedroom for five years before it got released.

  • @Proculledtwo Aye; more in hope than expectation, as I've said. I'll let you know if anything transpires.

  • @Proculledtwo c'mon now....where's the greed we've come to know in this business? get greedy my friend....dvd people...british tv people..whomever is responsible and could gibve the green light on this project....c'mon now..you got the market by the ?"(&%# and ya' know it so go ahead and squeeze.......

  • @Proculledtwo Unfortunately, those companies place far too much authority in lawyers, who prove their worth by covering their very sorry asses. None of these morons ever got fired by saying "no." Sad. Pathetic. Thank god, I don't have to wake up, look in the mirror and say "I'm a worthless hack."

  • Thank you so much Proculled for all these brilliant Seekers uploads; I remember watching this farewell concert on TV as a 10 year old having bought pretty much all their singles as they were released. Can't believe it's 42 years ago now! This little gem of a song is my current favourite. :)

  • when I was about 16 I used to hang out with my girl buddy and I remember

seekers songs on at her house all the time.

  • yep apart from handsome Keith, Athol with the glasses had it happening too

he had a cute face and a nice grin and now I'm older he appeals to me. OOps perhaps

I shouldnt be looking at cute men haha (mum here on sons a/c).

I think most men fancied Judith.

  • Keith Potger was so handsome

  • @cobbax9916 I agree. I noticed Keith first, so classically tall, dark, and handsome...then I had to admit that Bruce has his own charm but now watching the old stuff, there's just something attractive to me about Athol, too...maybe it's his grin. Add in pretty Judith, and they are magic for the eyes and the ears!

  • "I'll be shedding black and gray, to take on red and blue" ... words of beauty from our fantastic beauty, Judith Durham ... and - "colors of my life, bloom like flowers in my heart" ... I can't get over the innocent beauty of this woman ...

  • Thanks for the upload.

Just out of curiosity, I notice at the end that Athol has laid down his fiddle and it looks like the other two guys are shedding their guitars and the camera has zoomed in on Judith. What comes next? Is she getting ready for another solo? If so, would anyone know what it is?

  • Still remember that voice from my teens! Bet none of today's singers will still be in people's memories 40 years on!

  • "..there is so much "Girl" in her movements"

yes! you don't see that so much in today's female vocalists....now it's more about being "boss" or almost macho.....I'll take the soft sensuousness of Judith Durham anytime..

  • outstanding!

  • Judith and Annie Haslam. The two best in the world!

  • Какой широкий диапазон и глубокий голос. Великолепно!!!

  • this song makes me cry everytime i listen to it..

  • Funny you say that. I recently revived an old thorens turntable and when I went through my vast record collection I spied the old well worn Seekers album. I played it and cried through most of it. I gets played a lot. not bad for a 63 year old guy! Now I can watch this group and relive old memories and hear and not Watch them, thanks to Proculled!

  • I should have read the post below about Judith's hands before posting a similar one on anther song. I was sort of wondering if that is choreographed or if it just natural for her. Either way it is just great!

  • Thanks again proculled for uploading this unparalled group. Judith is absolutely beautiful.

  • @MichaelSansone1948 :-) Yes I have to agree,she was and is.

  • Isn't she amazing!

  • @yowim You're right, she gained a qualification in classical piano, I also read on Wikipedia she had classical vocal training, this may be wrong though. My mistake :)

  • @grimTales1 she was within weeks of starting classical singing training and then got diverted into trad jazz - the rest we know! In her biography I believe she comments that she whilst she has had vocal coaching over the years she didnt do classical technique as this would affect the unique tonal quality of her voice that we all admire. We can nonetheless be forgiven for thinking she has had some classical singing training as she possesses some of the techniques quite naturally

  • @yowim Thank you, that's very interesting and I wasn't aware of some of what you'd said :) I think this makes it even more amazing given her lung condition and also shows she has a superb NATURAL talent.

  • this girl has such a booming, clear voice.. she sings with such little effort. ..is she like an opera singer type who is singing folk songs ? i cant figure this one out, i havent really seen anyone in pop music who can sing this cleary and not strain at all. .

  • @morgankitty1 Judith was classically trained, I know this much. Classical singers tend to have very clear voices.

  • @grimTales1 - classically trained as a pianist not a singer

  • I'm an old guy who is rediscovering some of the music of my youth. This chick had absolutely the best voice ever! Jay Black has the best male voice of the 1960's and she has the best female voice. Sooo beautiful.

  • The Seekers broke up way to soon, they were enormous and who knows how great they might have become! Look up Judith singing Danny Boy and 500 Miles, what a fantastic voice.

  • Beautiful, pretty, simple song and what a voice. I've said this many times but this is amazing.

  • fantastic

  • Of course she is one of the greats. But the boys do not get the appreciation they deserved.

  • traditional song well said

  • lovely song! great Aussie talent from the 60's.

  • she is the definition of a siren---or the word enchanting

  • gorgeous & a classic album too, seen in green, thnx 4 posting proc

  • proof that TALENT is what should count, NOT cleavage, the ability to shock, outrageous costumes, and acting like a whore. it's sad that there aren't more classy and talented singers today like judith, petula clark, mary travers, or dusty springfield.

  • Those little nods of appreciation at the end......... son of a bitch she's cute....

  • my dad used to play this on his reel to reel back when i was a kid..ive just rediscovered this.....it makes me cry..its such a sincere..honest song..you dont get many like this anymore.

  • What I notice here is how her singing just seems effortless for her. Almost like she's just lip syncing, which if course she isn't. I have Seekers albums from the sixties but just recently (thanks to youtube) found a whole new appreciation for them. What a wonderful group and what a talent Judith was-is. The timber of the male voices blend perfectly with hers. The harmony just seems to melt together. It's almost hard to pick out one voice from another. Thanks for posting !

  • I think the Seekers should be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. I wonder if there is some kind of letter writing campaign that could help draw attention to their body of work.

  • Along with Karen Carpenter, Judith is one of top female vocalists in history. It is a shame we didn't see more ot them here in the US

  • @zelena912 I agree. I have been a Karen fan for years, but Judith is now alongside her on my list of favorites.

  • Does anyone know whether the boys did any recording after Judith left?

  • Someone mentioned they were born too late; I wasn't for great group, The Seekers, but I was for The Poni Tails & it got me to thinking, so search for The Poni Tails "Born Too Late" & enjoy this great from '58!

  • When I hear some of the nois that people call music today it makes me wish that I was born in the 50's. Not that all modern music is bad I realy like a lot of today's music. I am only 20 years old. The Seekers WOW!!

  • I'll be shedding black and grey to take on red and blue

Colours I can feel like touching you.

    :)

    Happy days

  • I believe YouTube to be the most important place on the internet. All these treasures, brought back to life.

  • I love the way she sways and uses her hands and head to express the song. Love watching her... thank you Procull

  • Yes I agree, there is so much "Girl" in her movements.

  • @Proculled undoubtedly one of the most beautiful people there has ever been.

  • @Proculled "so much "girl"--that's a wonderful way of saying "feminine grace"--two words that always go together in my opinion.

  • @dennykdoe Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned but I love to see a girl move like a "Girl"

It gives such a good feeling :-)

  • @Proculledtwo Amen, brother. And, if she also sings with a voice that comes unfiltered from Heaven? Like someone else here said--never did modesty look so sexy. I would be very happy to be the guy lucky enough to cherish her until she died.

  • @tedk2ohio

Never any attempt to appear sofisticated, never any of the phoniness you see in many/most professionals....Judith was really the sweet girl next door.

  • One of my favourite seeker songs.

  • 1968 seems early for a farewell concert. Why did they break up? Weren't they at the height of their popularity at that time?

  • The lead singer Judith wanted to spread her wings and go solo.

  • @Proculled thank you for the answer. How did Judith do on her own?

I was born a bit late to know of these groups. "Georgie Girl" popped into my mind today and I sat down at the computer to find out where the song came from.

    The miracle of youtube.

  • She did not have the same amount of hits as she had with The Seekers but it was her life and she got to do what she wanted.I deeply respect her for doing that and not let pressure from others decide how she should live.Even if it led to most of us lost her for 25 years.

  • @Proculled Thanks. I'm off to discover her music for myself and will be enjoying every note.
