My Grandpa would sing this to my Grandma when they were young (her name was Irene)... My Grandfather was also an alcoholic, so I imagine it would sound really close to this. :) To me, it's very endearing. I never did get to hear my Grandpa sing. He sobered up when I was born and never sang again.
