@naterv11 Common misconception, egg yolks are vilified so much in modern society due to their fat content, but in actual fact if you take out of the yolk you're removing a huge amount of the protein from the egg, (2/3rds of the protein usually), not to mention you remove all the good fat soluble vitamins (A, K etc) and vital amino acids such as Cysteine.
Obviously don't include the yolk from every egg but its not healthier to have pure egg whites. Hope this helped to educate in some way :)
Thats actually quite healthy and a great idea for a nice breakfast meal. I'm going to try it. I think my hubby will like it too! Thanks for the vid. :)
@OneFeistyScorpio it's healthy if u are comparing it to a egg mcmuffin combo X 2. fatty, high in cholesterol and preservatives. But it does look good.
so i hear that dinosaur eggs do contain about that much cholesterol, but regular whole, hard-boiled eggs only contain about 425mg of cholesterol which adds up to about 1275mg of chol per 3 whole, hard-boiled eggs... not all that bad really.
well buddy, sometimes bad nutrients are just what you need to get through the day. no food is perfect. its just some are higher in cholesterol and some lower, etc.
As long as it's not every day you eat those foods. I try never to eat them just because I know they're bad for me. There was one food I came across that I thought was pretty close to perfect, and that's savoury yeast flakes.
No, I just think eggs have too much cholesterol. Having a little bit over the DRI (500mg) of sodium isn't as harmful, but the average American usually has 20 times the necessary intake.
If you eat an egg a day, then your cholesterol levels will rise, which is not good unless you can adequately balance it out. Even then the extra cholesterol will have negative effects on your health.
But as well as eggs having a lot of cholesterol, they also have a relatively large amount of fat.
"When protein intake exceeds about 95 grams per day, the body goes into negative mineral balance because of high acidity. With an intake of 140 gm, there is a mean loss of 60 mg of calcium per day, regardless of the amount of calcium ingested." Horne, Chapter 15, Diet and Nutrition.
So if u eat nothing else all day, a 12 oz steak, some mashed potatoes and asparagus in just 1 typical, unhealthy meal would exceed that 95g protein/day threshold and cause bone resorption.
I warn you. It's high in protein, so very filling for the stomach (which, by the way) spends most of it's energy digesting protein), so you might want to start with only one roll-up, or cut back on some of the ingredients.
"Colby Jack," which is a blend (as the name implies) of Monterrey Jack and Colby, is the cheese I used. Any cheese that would melt nicely, and be delicious in an omelet, would make a good choice.
Sounds delious....by the way, you have a great voice....God Bless!

absolutely nothing wrong with consuming UP TO 3 eggs a day.

More than 3000mg of cholesterol. I think there's something wrong with that. I'm probably just saying this because I don't like eggs.

Hmmm well I read on nutritiondata that it contains more... oh well, I still think 1275mg is a lot.

Ya, never really used yeast flakes, I am not much of a big fan of high sodium foods, but I'm glad you like it.
cromatical 2 years ago
Well, if otherwise you eat a diet fairly low in sodium it won't have a bad effect on your health.
Boeu13 2 years ago
As well as with foods of high cholesterol, such as eggs, if otherwise you eat low cholesterol foods, it wont have a bad effect on your health :).

You HAVE to love the gas stove.
I cannot cook on electric very well.
Eggs do not hurt you as much as people think if you have naturally low cholesterol...

I use only "REAL" cheese (never the processed sorts or the "cheese foods"). I've found "real" cheeses much more satisfying.
