That's not my translation, but it seems pretty good, for those of us who might need a little help with the Italian. Although, Miss Petibon makes the meaning pretty clear. Brilliant!
A beautiful piece and great performance *ruined* by this disgusting "music video". WTF Deutsche Grammophon? Habt ihr alle völlig verrückt geworden? The lack of idiotic music videos and exploitation of performer sexuality is one of the saving graces of the classical music industry... If you want a video, give us the actual performance, let us see her diaphragm in motion, not just dancing around pointlessly.
la adoro, siempre actúa con alegría, ( parece no tener problemas en la vida ), en su papel de Despina en CMajor entertainment considero que ella le da " chispa " a cossi fan tutte ( por ejemplo con el helio), jaja
Does anybody have the chords to this? I've got the first part: F#m7 C#7 | F#m7 Dmaj7... But then I'm totally lost... I'm trying to make a jazz rendition of this for a school project
If you can't handle the commercial version, check out "Patricia Petibon: Rosso - Italian Baroque Arias" for the recording session of Quando voglio & other cuts from this album - WOW!
and how should they make it in this comercial world without video clips? I think there are other "aria video clips" with more imitation and as long as you can feel that there's passion, personality and realness wihout too much glamour you can take it with humour :) but I accept your way of thinking about it.
ridiculous??? sorry friend but it's a pity that you don't have the talent & virtuosity to fell music
Petibon is so great and talent that you can't never understand the feelings, the emotion and most of all the perception and sensitibity that music express, not all people is fortune to be that talent :D
@boo170807 thanks friend,,,,it's a pity that drshah0 doesn´t think the same way but she's unique thanks,,,,i see not all people can feel the emotion one singer can express :D

When I wish, with my charm
I can wound the man who gazes on me,
and it is a brave man who does not sigh
at the strength of my rejection.
When I wish, with a smile
I can pierce the man who looks on me,
and there is no man whose heart does not
burn with passion at my expressive face.

@hackel137 lol, surely you jest. the "exploitation" of a performer's sexuality is the essence of opera...the music just happened to grow around it.

Quando voglio, con un vezzo
so piagar, chi mi rimira,
ed al brio d'un mio disprezzo
ha un gran cor, chi non sospira.
Quando voglio, con un riso
saettar so, chi mi guarda,
ed al moto del mio viso
non v'è seno, che non arda.

I don't like video clips of classic music that try to imitate pop music clips.
this is just a commercial music clip and better not to judge as a serious work!
although I really love Petibon voice.

Agreed!

@drshah0 You have it backwards, pop imitated classical, remember?
operaerobic 1 year ago
@operaerobic probably not in general.here, the clip seems to be kind of loose.
drshah0 1 year ago
@drshah0 let's not forget that histrionics are foremost an operatic tradition
operaerobic 1 year ago
@operaerobic yeah and such a overt movements can be interpreted as a pure histrionicalness.
