  • wtf shifting like that i don't know how the hell he got to 200

  • @CRUSIALP Theres a bend in the fucking road meaning that if he sped up as fast as he could he would just have to slow down again because the bend can only be taken at a certain speed so maximum acceleration is pointless. I don't get how something so obvious is so hard to understand for so many people.

  • to get best speed go to 7rpm.

  • wtf this guy is pussy footing it i wanna hear that super charger spool up!

  • Is it me or did it take the ZR1 forever to reach 200?

  • @greendayrules11 Thats MPH!!!!

  • @drMINDdamage Yes, but the Aventador gets up to 200mph in nothing flat. Just saying.

  • @greendayrules11 look at the price of the aventador...lol Its just another italian overrated overpriced shallow car nothing special about it doesnt got the fun and the spirit you could get out of a Vette...just sayin...

  • @drMINDdamage Your point? The Porsche gets to 200 mph faster for close to the same price, then the new 2013 GTR went around the Nurburgring in 7:20. That, and it's easier to drive and control for the same price as the Vette. Just depends on how deep your pockets are.

  • @greendayrules11 yeah but the Vette beats most of the cars in its class exept the Viper probably, so for a few thousand more dollars you can achieve even more with it(upgrade)! but anyway if i can chose ill get an older Vette or Camaro from the 90's and ill drive the car i like i dont give a shit if porshes or lambos are faster lol :)

  • @drMINDdamage Haha ok

  • @greendayrules11 lol, we jus hit 2012,and the 2013 is at the ring already, my bad the 2020 GTR did it in 5 sec flats, ricers are pathetic

  • @greendayrules11 It's you.

  • wow! And that is MPH. Convert that to KMH...this car pack serious coolness!

  • 2012 NSx

  • @GunickIS alternative solution to the R8

  • cool vid and great performing vehicle but i really cant wait until the new nsx 2012 comes out :)

  • that driver shifts to early

  • @Dominator5515 no he doesn't

  • OH MY GOD! I GOTTA HAVE ONE OF THESE USED CORVETTES.

  • Folks, that is 292.584 feet per second!

  • thats not faster than mclaren slr =) i miss that car

  • i think the driver was scared.....

  • If you didnt shift TOO early, this car would go way faster than that

  • REV IT!!!!!!! That ZR1 can rev up to 6500RPM.

  • 85 people like non american cars

  • Short shifting the fuck out of it wtf

  • pure america muscle

  • BMW go straight to hell. That Corvette was certifiably EVIL. Wet dreams, people. Wet dreams.

  • OMG look how fast that monster accelerates!!!!

  • That car is hideous and plastic. Why did it take so long to get to 200? Most cars that go that fast do it way faster than that.

  • @GoProCA most cars that you are talkiong about are tested on straight tracks where pure velocity allows them to gain speed. this track was an oval. if you know a thing about cars then you will relize that many cars will have trouble keeping pace with a ZR1.

  • ZR1, Y U NO in my garage yet?!

  • @ebsmall your absolutely right you know whats up

  • yall are retarded he wasn't drag racig he was driving for top end why would he rip through the gears like he stole it for a top end run?

  • @thebadone1986 to make it easier to get up to top speed dipshit

  • lol he is bad at shifting...but thats a boss car so who cares haha

  • The shifting was pathetic

  • @gtnumber1 The Nissan gtr is capable of pulling off a faster lap around a road course because of all wheel drive. The corvette is rear wheel drive and a lot more than likely to spin. It's not better it's a different concept. How is the gtr on a straight with top speed in comparison to the vette. There is no comparison.

  • I have - nothing special

  • there,s no doubt the zr 1 is a great car , its just for 1oo, ooo you expect more than speed , they need to charge a little more and make the fit and trim a lot better , great car though

  • Look at that guy short shift!! drive it like you stole it man!!

  • @ebsmall for top speed runs it's better to short shift until you hit your top speed gear..

  • got to love it that there is a dash light on when they take it up to 200 mph

  • @DakotaSG1 Looks like traction control is off to me.

  • maybe if he didnt quickshift the bastard he wouldve gotten better

  • NEW LAND-SPEED RECORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • my z51 2006 vette can get 190MPH so thats just too normal

  • I know it accelerates like a bat outta hell, but you kinda think with the power of a Mclaren F1 and such a low drag coefficient that a 200 mph top speed is a little underwhelming.

  • 2:01 - Fucking car looks like it's traveling through time & people want to hate on it? Hahahaha, it could knock you the fuck out passing by you!

  • I want to see a 200MPH Drift just wanted to see .

  • was that a bullet

  • Amusing to see the 'kids' bash their heads over their cars.

  • Corvettes look nice, but are impractical when it comes to daily driving.

  • The driver in this video backed off early , what a waste of a run. If a professional driver for corvette can hit 205 in the same car what the hell is this in my (stewie voice)

  • @corvettez098 the guy was driving with his mirrors out too. if it was a pro with his mirrors folded in it can his 210.

  • @TheHayMaker801 this is why i do not respect the comments of motor trend on the cars they review. if they used pr race drivers to review the cars then i would respect their commentary and magazine articles writen about the cars they go over.

  • @corvettez098 they arent too bad they just dont take the cars to the max when they test.

  • It could of top out at the 220mph but he bck off hella early. I say go all the way Baby it

  • iam european but i wish i had a little more money and live in America.American cars are the nicest and fastest cars in the world!!! I LOVE THEM!!

  • @wehatemillwall

Your really think that? I think that that's odd. I haven't run into many Europeans who like American cars.

  • Jus wouldn't stop

  • In Brazil, US$ 380.000 Dolars.

    In USA, US$ 50.000 dolars.

    Belive me!

  • @Gulvfisk So let me get this straight. You owned 2 fords that fell apart, so that means all american cars fall apart? That's your reasoning? Not very good. So what's in your garage now? A gallardo? Enzo? 911GT? Or is it something like a 6 year old jetta? My american vehicles have never fallen apart. Sure you have to replace parts, like a starter, alternator, maybe fix a leak. But that doesn't mean they're falling apart. Its called upkeep and maintinence. All cars need that.

  • i never said that i hate corvettes, but i would never say they are better than European cars... Fact is: Most american cars fall apart, but is cheap to fix. I had an 1971 Vett cabriolet with the 454 bigblock, and loved the car. (Was my fathers, but i used it most of the time) Other american cars i have had: Ford Probe(yeah, i know it is a part asian in there somewhere) and a Crown VIc... Friend of mine drives a Viper rt. All those cars fall apart all the time, but we still love them.

  • American cars are not shit. Some are, but not all. The fact that you are generalizing all american cars into 1 single category given there differences shows that you are also, a trolling doosh bag. Its a video of an american car. So I ask you as well. Why are you watching it?

  • @Buggar997 I need to get over myself? Ha! Well let me ask you question. Why are you watching a corvette video if you don't fucking like them? I know why, you're a trolling doosh bag.

  • My car can do that in km....

  • this is my favorite car right here

  • @Gulvfisk You really shouldn't regurgitate the shit you see on Top Gear BBC like it's an original thought or personal experience. I know from experience that these newer corvettes don't just fall apart the second time you drive them. Oh, and what le mans series car was forced to shave a hundred something h.p. off of their production motor so other cars could be competitive? Are the le mans series tracks just straight lines?

  • i spy....wait slow down

  • 1:25 is when he hits 200 and yea FUCK euro trash

  • PRESS 8 FOR 200 MPH

  • America owns you faggots. We are the best for a reason.

  • Comment removed

  • 40 mph first gear lol.

  • @iMdMR yeah. i dont think that you can legally leave second gear.

  • ZR1 is so beast.

  • from what I saw there was still still 400 or so rpm till redline

  • @Janusha Wrong, Porsche does not sell more 911s, which is the direct competition and not the other models which sell the most and not totally geared towards performance. Your statement is wrong and I'm here to correct it. You are 100% wrong and doubt you know all of the Porsche models so comparing them to Corvettes, which there are over 13 versions of the 911 platform alone is stupid. Like I have always said, you know very little about cars and should try another topic so you look less stupid.

  • shifts into 2nd @ 45???? wow

  • @movinginstereo44 I don't know if you're referring to me, but if you are, you are proving my point right now. My feelings aren't hurt, but nice try with the psychology. You automatically assume though it was YOU who is responsible lol. Get over yourself. Everyone already read your previous post about all you supposedly had. No need to reiterate it. That is unless you are full of shit, or you want somebody to shower you with compliments and be envious of you...typical...I don't care what you have

  • LOL!!! Don't get your feeling hurt buddy! I wasn't buying them to hurt you! =) Actually when I was buying 15-20 or more cars at each weekly auction for quite a few years there & that was just one of several auctions that I went to or a regular basis. Bought 48 of them at an estate sale one time. When it's your life, they tend to add up. So! Silly as it "sounds", it's a fact Jack. But like I say, you can believe whatever you'd like! Have a great day! =)

  • Has everyone in Europe forgotten it was an American car that broke the 200mph barrier in the 80's they did it with a twin turbo Pontiac

  • @morg405

Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porshes all did 200 mph in the 80s. And dont go any faster today because they are refreshingly disconcerned with top speeds that cant actually be used. Speed is the easy part. Racecars have done virtually the same speeds since the 60s. Whats changed is build quality, technology and styling. Which is exactly where america has a hell of alot of catching up to do. America dont like those things because it costs money while speed on its own is cheap.

  • 1 more gear

  • I'm getting pretty fed up with the euro trash. Don't hate on Americans because we're proud. You guys are some of the most pompous, arrogant little pricks I have ever come across. 95% of you will NEVER own one of your countries beloved super cars because they are so expensive.

  • @dalatl86 ofc they are expensive, otherwise fat ass rednecks would own them

  • @dalatl86 Your super cars is super in a straight line the first time u drive it, after that it will fall apart. Try one corner, and it spins out... Most European super cars is expensive because they are super in every way, not just top speed and acceleration on a paper.

  • @Gulvfisk The ZR1 wins in everything against European cars. Look at Nurburgring times, Le Mans, Laguna Seca, quarter mile times. The ZR1 is on top. You cannot beat American performance. Deal with it however you wish.

  • @Americanbeast14

Well... no even the fastest american production car witch is the Viper ACR, and that one got parked by two european cars, the radial SR8 and the Gumpert apollo sport. And sport is not the fastest apollo...

Germany, japan, netherland and UK beats it... It have never been fastest around the Nordschleife :)

  • @Gulvfisk so you're saying 2 tenths of a second counts as "getting parked"? that's funny. i would rather buy and drive a car that does the nurburgring in 7:12 than drive a car that does it faster and looks like something you would see at a go kart track.

  • @dalatl86 I cannot dissagree:) Tis awsoesome. And if you say Rubbish, well then no good. Cause you know it is.

  • @dalatl86 k we still have a faster car bitch. get over yourself

  • @dalatl86 OH! and its sexier than your cars too.

  • @dalatl86 I think it's more that American cars are shit, not that European cars are good. Hell, the only Corvette that actually deserves a supercar label is the ZR1, which is $120k, and if you'd ever spend that much on a Corvette you need your head checked.

  • @dalatl86 A agree with you. the europeans are always going to whine like babies because the ZR1 will lay waste to most euro cars twice it price, and will be on the road YEARS longer with alot LESS maintenance or repairs. they are all a bunch of cry babies just like the japs because this car beats the hell out of EVERYTHING jap has ever been able to build, and last way longer. American beats them all in EVERYTHING except being gay and whiney cry babies.

  • @dalatl86 true that and do you believe these lazy euro fucks only have a 30hr work week and get triple the amount of vacation time....and they fuckin dare talk shit on hard working Americans. There is a reason we r the #1 world superpower. And dont you even think of bring our economy into question when you have that god awful mess with greece and spain, just look at the value of he Euro...its plummeting.

  • @dalatl86 I don't know what Europeans you came across but everybody is like that. And been proud for something other have accomplished is a bit stupid. Not to mention that a ZR1 isn't cheap, in Europe it's about the same price as a 911, that's why we don't bow down to it like you do. So don't judge people just because someone who lives in the same county as them happens to be a moron.

As for the Corvette I hope the next one will be as much of a driver's machine as this is.

  • did anyone else find themselves sayin "GOGOGOGOGO" as he was nearing 200?

  • FTW USA.

  • how the hell can a speedo be wrong?

  • 638 hp and reach just 337 km/hour (210mph) but the lambo murcielago LP 640hp can reach a speed of 363km/hour (224mph) so lambo is the best

  • @reda1994ful You have to remember the price. Let us cam it and put some exhaust. Even stock, it puts out record times.

  • @Voldness

Always the same excuses out of you guys.. Corvette is best in the woooorld !!! and when its beaten by other cars, its always oooh but its cheaper. So nothing can be compared to a Corvette except another Corvette then. Whats with this pride in being cheapass. Why cant america ONCE step it up and make a proper supercar. Just ONE time. I can promise you a Lamborghini customer isnt very concerned with how much cheaper a Corvette is.

  • @Janusha I love Lamborghinis, dont get me wrong, i'm just saying you can easily get more performance out of a zr1. Thats why i brought up the price. You can use the extra money and really do something with it. And its not an excuse, but the truth:) Love Lambo's tho. And Ferrari's.

  • You again?!? You must have a real burr up you ass about the fact that the Corvette IS a supercar, and you can't stand it. I actually reject your crack-addled premise, but will address it: If Chevrolet did put a proper supercar, according to you, and it bested the rest of the world's offerings, you'd still find fault with it. As it stands, the ZR1 is the best priced, internationally road legal super out there. So, go cry to your local dictator about it, and shut up.

  • @xo45thvols1

Ive never said a bad word about your one and only internationally competitive vehicle that ironically... dont sell internationally. But excuse me if I dont join in the frantic flagwaving. Any american product gets hyped way past its actual capabilities. Cars are no exception. Speed on its own is the easy part. 640 hp is a decission. Not an achievement. As always its brute force compensating for the complete lack of technology and sophistication. Hence the price.

  • Think about it.. if Corvette really was the pinnacle of automotive excellence for half price as you want us to believe, then why dont people buy it outside america? Porsche sells 120 000 cars a year and outsells Corvette even in USA. Its heavy reliance of bullshit claims to promote itself doesnt go down well elsewhere I guess. Faked Nurburgring laps, factory backed racing, skid pads and race tyres gives you an entirely fictional sense of superiority that no amount of squeeky plastic can shake.

  • Wow, you're grasping at straws. To fake A Nurburgring lap time requires cooperation of the German government, as the Nurburgring is actually a public road. As of 2010 Porsche sold 2,567 total cars in America, which is a 21% increase from 09. Corvette on the other hand, sold only a measly 11,645 cars. Strike two. Now, on your tire claim, well do any european "supercars" run on regular tires? No, they run the same as a ZR1 or better. At least they should for that price.

  • Let me get to the crux of your ire: You hate that a country that is barely 250 years old has surpassed all of Europe in terms of production, intellectual property, and ingenuity, and that has beaten everyone to the moon. That America produces a supercar that people can actually afford and enjoy, makes you angry. That it set a record time on the world's best race track really pisses you off, and finally that people actually enjoy an Amercian product, is the last straw for you.

  • @xo45thvols1

hahaha you people. Porsche sold 22532 cars so far this year in america. According to the US governments own numbers. You need to inject a lethal dose of patriotism to believe the Ring is some kind of international "benchmark" and along comes Corvette, Viper, hell even Cadillac and ALL claim world god damn records after renting the track for a weekend. Right in the middle of their collective bankruptcies desperate to hype their cars in Europe and generate hero status back home.

  • Nobody is expecting bankrupt america to rise and match European cars today but even when they had all the money and manpower in the world, quality was never a focus. Sure.. you put 2 cars on Mars and 1 on the moon. There should be no excuse to fail at cars on this planet. Tell you what. If you can name 2 american built cars that is internationally competitive and sells outside USA then Ill give you a list of 100 european cars that sells well on every continent. Its a bit onesided isnt it.

  • @reda1994ful

compare prices then u know which one is the best

  • @reda1994ful

Bullshit. Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche all started doing 200 mph in the 80s and dont go much faster today because they are refreshingly disconcerned with unrealistic top speeds that you can never actually use. They arent focused towards mph above 200.

  • why didn't he redline?

  • @ClintonTheHunter It's a top speed run, not an acceleration test

  • omg an American car doing over 200mph it's a MIRACLE!!

  • @bencolecumbria1995 No miracle about it. Too easy. We just tend to do stuff like, oh i dont know, figure out nucelar bombs n stuff. You act like your country did something special.

  • @Voldness 2 words "BRITISH EMPIRE"

  • @bencolecumbria1995 - Another two word "FELL APART". Better yet, this next entire sentence: "The British Empire squandered and lost what would turn out to be the most industrious country in the history of the world."

  • @xo45thvols1 Better to have had and lost than to never have had at all. Oh i don't know why don't you tell me i wouldn't know what that feels like

  • @bencolecumbria1995 we have on that does 254

  • @gokarter57275 we have one that does 267

  • Who built the first cars? America

  • @TheMrgoober4

Yep Fred Flintstone invented it and sold the rights to Mr. Benz from Germany.

Mr. Chevrolet by the way came from Switzerland.

  • @TheMrgoober4 Wrong, it was Germany with the Benz in 1886. Check you fact first, please!

  • @kc8ntp that is correct, but the first practical, affordable cars were built in the US.

  • I don't car what anybody says about American cars (which now a out performing the euro ones) i know there is the fit and finish argument (which is all the have since they don't have the performance argument anymore) i will always counter with the maintenance argument American cars a sturdy and when they do break a knowledgeable owner can easily fix the problem in there own garage even with cars like the corvette and ford gt lambos ferrari's and audi's you damn near have to ship back to get fixed

  • I see everyone has an opinion. Here's the facts from someone who has owned over 3000 cars since I was 17. (31 years ago) (So more experienced than most.) Europe & Japan have made some beautiful cars. Some have lots of power & great handling like the ZR1. The difference is, the small block Chevrolet will outlast any of the 4's, 5's, 6's, 8's, 10's or 12's that the other companies have built. They last longer, are easier to maintain, more reliable & more economical to work on. End of story.

  • @movinginstereo44 Sorry, ran out of "letters" on my "post". But would also like to add, if & when Europe or Japan actually builds a car that holds up nicely after 10 years without costing a fortune to maintain, then I will reconsider. I've had too many Porsches, Maserati's, Jaguars, Audi's, etc. where the interiors just fall apart, the electrical stops working & they become mechanical nightmares. Just look at the resale values of your Porsches, Audis & Jaguars after the first 10 years. OUCH! =(

  • @movinginstereo44 Amen! My BMW was just totaled (1998 328i). In the year I had it, I had to replace the cats (can't buy one, gotta get both!) at 100k miles, the ABS was throwing alarms that I hadn't got to yet, idle air control motor, vacuum leak in the fuel system somewhere, tons of lights out in the interior (dash, plasma displays, radio backlight was out). All this before or at 100k miles. Don't have these issues with my Jeep which has 300k on it. Replacing the BMW with a Trans Am.

  • @apharot I like the way you think

  • @movinginstereo44

So you owned 100 cars a year then... for 30 years. Thats like... a new car every 3 days. Thats just a ridiculous claim. I call that bullshit. End of story.

  • @Janusha LOL! Sounds too good to be true huh!? =) Well believe it or not, that's my life. Currently have over 200 right now. Believe it or don't. Not my concern. =)

  • @movinginstereo44

You can claim whatever you like but 3000 cars... over 30 years is just silly.

  • if you wouldnt have short shifted and ran the thing like it was supposed to be run you could have probably buried the needle. good job motor trend with your skewed results.

  • I've driven this car.. and it feels cheap and kinda flimsy for supercar standards, no offense =3 soft and clanky plastic material... :( fast though, but not luxurious...for those who want fast car with less money :D

  • Comment removed

  • @AdamMedd and you can always tune it up .. and make it go even faster and it'll still cost less ...

  • and the alpha 12 gtr, only worth 200k, runs a quarter in 8 seconds

  • i got something for all of you:

The ams nissan gtr alpha 9, has blown this car and every other car in sight, and it has the Veyron in sight, for it does a faster 0-60, and im not even talking about the alpha 10 gtr which is even faster...... So there you go, a reasonably priced supercar that is king.

  • @TheRareone777 -See, that's an aftermarket kit for the R35, not a stock manufacturer car. What I've always debated on was from the show room car, not aftermarket add-on cars. So, yes, it is faster than most street legal cars(nowhere near as fast an alcohol fueled NHRA Funny Car), but that's after a kit has been added. Kind of like giving steroids to a sportstar.

  • @TheRareone777 well thing is, the alpha 9 with the gtr totals out not much more than the zr1, even the alpha 12 that did a blistering quater mile in 8.9 all together is worth only 200k, and is technically faster than the veyron, and still being street legal, yeahhh thats impressive..... What im saying is that the gtr is a better base to work on and is overall a better car that rewrites and makes a mark on history.

  • love it!!

  • bro shoulda reved higher haha.

  • everyone in here in the us drives a prius or a civic so all of your opinions dont even matter.

  • Damn, he short-shifted every gear. coulda accelerated even faster, even though that needle was still dancing!

  • The best. American engineering and American manufacturing. The Corvette has been tops for decades. Why can't these guys do that with the little cars? The unions are essentially on notice at this point, how if we could only stop the war b/s and the politicians we could go back to being the most free country again ( Heritage has us at #8 now ) and that would create the prosperity we all want. Ron Paul 2012 or more of the same and we can't afford more of the same.

  • how come there a corvette top speed video but i cant find a dodge viper srt 10 top speed run video anywhere?

  • i tested 2009 dodge viper srt10 convertible roadster and reached to its top speed and its top speed was really 202 mph because it was 8.4 l v10 600 hp 560 flb of torque acceleration 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and top speed 202 mph = 325 km/h

  • 2:04 reminds me of "Supra from hell"

  • I will hit justin bieber with ZR1.

  • jesus christ!

  • my mazda proteze was super fast.....I wont say how fast but I will say that the posted max speed is probably correct and it does not take long to get close to the max speed, my current car suprized me being that I was going XXX mph and I was using less than 3 rpms...the spadomater on my current car is lower than its top speed.....the spadomater on my first car that said it can only go 80mph was probably right sense I dont think I ever maid it over 60mph.....The spadomater is just a suggestion.

  • Effortless driving.. That is what I would deem to be enough horses to make my day.. Throw a turbo in that, my day would be complete :D

  • my 1976 monte carlo hit 131 mph it was stock not bad for a $50 car with 286k miles on it. i have the ticket to prove it

  • Damn America freaking rules! It's good to be KING!

  • I hate the drive

Why he change the gear early????

    Its my dream car

  • honda civics can do this because they have those tail pipes and spoilers..

  • @steelfury455:: You sir, are an idiot.

  • @itsmarkwtf youre an idiot for not recognizing sarcasm..

  • Love the views on this video. Wow I still have a hard on after watching this. Nothing like good ol' AMERICAN MUSCLE!! I thought doing 155 in my '96 SS was fast, wow. (please bring me one for christmas santa!!)

  • i thought this car couldnt reach top speed in 6th, i thought 6th was something like an overdrive

  • @avx7 -Nope, all the gears have power.

  • I HATE THIS LYING SPEEDOMETERS

  • @shoticko- If you listened at the end, they had to correct for wind speed and speedometer error.

  • Why is he shifting at only 5,000 rpm? go to at least 6

  • @xNolifeFilmsx - 6,000 rpms hits the rev limiter. The ideal shift point is 5,000 to 5,500 rpms.

  • lets see the super snake do that!

  • if the dravier had changed the gears at 7000 rpm he would reached the top speed in max 30 sec.

  • @dark1x1010 -Again, the rev limiter is set at 6,000 rpms. going to 7,000 is actually impossible, but if he did, there is a great chance that the engine will snap the transmission right off.

  • Fast car, but what a piece chevy that is. The interior on this thing is a joke.
