the biggest proof that human morons are running after physical objects for sense gratification is the number of comments here. just 6 in one year. that proves only a minuscule number of beings can enter into spiritual realm by God's grace. if this was an x rated video perhaps the comments would have been in thousands. This is a holy mountain in south India called Arunachala. It is a manifestation of Shiva Himself , here they are celebrating Shiva who it is said became an eternal column of light which just has no ending at all . It is said that two other Gods , Bhrama and Vishnu had a contest to find the begining and end of this light . One turned into a swan and the other into a boar , one flew up the other bored down .

Bhrama the swam saw a flower floating down , grabbed it and thought 'I will use this to prove that I reached the top of this light' . They both came back but Bhrama was found to be cheating .Because Shiva is eternal the light is never ending and cannot be destroyed . Hence this celebration , the fire element is very strong at this mountain as it is also the place where the fire element is revered.

I have been to three of these events and have walked with the people around the mountain itself on this day , it is very powerful atmosphere , very much reminds me of New Years Eve , when we countdown to midnight . The people chant aloud, "Haro Hara!" .The fire is also kept alive for about thirteen days after it is lit . So that's what's happening.
