If you can actually do the work and not bitch and moan about shit jobs( unfortunately too many young guys do it now ) you'll be alright. Just remember that you're in a man's environment ( i'm not being chauvinist ). I've seen a few women that wanted to be but just couldn't, trades can be rough. Good luck

Actually you can very easily tell it's flux core anyway, because solid wire as such has a copper coat on to protect it from corrosion and increase conductivity. Flux Core doesn't have that, nor does it need it, and if you look very closely you'll see that spool of wire isn't copper coated.But beside that, solid wire doesn't sound anything like that when you run it, no matter whether you're on, dip, globular or spray transfer modes.Flux Core has a softer more subtle sound to it when u run it.
Not all solid/hard wire is coated with copper. We weld with D2 and it has no coating. You run it a bit hotter and it lays like butter. I actually prefer it over L 56. It also has little spatter as long as the steel is prepped properly ie. chipped well or scale has been ground or sanded.

this is definitely friction stir welding, i have similar rig in my shop that i worked hard to afford and is my lively hood. the spraks come from the prong of the machine mixing the metal (thats how you know its working) i use this every day and sometimes saturday, i know its friction stir welding

Yes this man is correct, that IS F.C.A.W. and yes he's got his wits about him because I'll be doing the same. I've been a Boilermaker/Coded Welder for 15 Years, and if the fumes from Flux Core, Stick welding and Arc-Air Gouging don't get you, something else will...Plasma Arc Gouging is also another good way of copping the BIG C as well. Actually, while I'm at it, it's also really good way of ending up infertile too...Don't worry about the spatter burns, they're the least of your worries...
This looks a lot like Flux-Cored Arc Welding. Espeically when taking into account the thickness of the metal being welded. It's all just speculation though, if anyones that interested in knowing call TSE steel in Calgary and ask them ;)
to set the record straight, the more commonly known terminology of mig welding is gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and you cant tell which type of process this is whether its FCAW-S or GMAW because they both have similar machine principles. the only way this could be GMAW is if the gas was being routed to the station because you cant see a bottle in the pic. even then if that was the case there is the possibility that this process could be FCAW-G

how can ANYONE tell its FCAW?? It is IMPOSSIBLE to tell whether its MIG or FCAW unless you can see the wire. The set up in the workshop would clearly have a manifold gas system, so you wouldnt even see a gas bottle.I'd know-im a coded welder, all processes, all positions, all metals.

The fumes can be from the quality of metal she's welding, or her nozzle has just been dipped in the anti-stick formula, which also causes fumes. Fumes are not the best indicator to the type of welding too many factors come into play.
just did verticle t-joint today practicing for cwb all positions and had to do this 6010 1/8 down hand and that b*itch was just splattering everywhere thankfully i kept the fusion high enough so it didn't run my weld but none the less it was intresting

You dick ass! If you look at the smoke it proves it's fucking cold welding as the oxidization layer gives way and evaporates leaving the metals to bond without fusion. I know because I work at TSE with her (yes, it's a HER you ignorant cunts) and we're currently working on rocket parts for NASA to replace the Hubbel Space Station because it's lenses weren't welded properly to the thrusters. Yes this man is correct, that IS F.C.A.W. and yes he's got his wits about him because I'll be doing the same. I've been a Boilermaker/Coded Welder for 15 Years, and if the fumes from Flux Core, Stick welding and Arc-Air Gouging don't get you, something else will...Plasma Arc Gouging is also another good way of copping the BIG C as well. Actually, while I'm at it, it's also really good way of ending up infertile too...Don't worry about the spatter burns, they're the least of your worries...

This looks a lot like Flux-Cored Arc Welding. Espeically when taking into account the thickness of the metal being welded. It's all just speculation though, if anyones that interested in knowing call TSE steel in Calgary and ask them ;)

to set the record straight, the more commonly known terminology of mig welding is gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and you cant tell which type of process this is whether its FCAW-S or GMAW because they both have similar machine principles. the only way this could be GMAW is if the gas was being routed to the station because you cant see a bottle in the pic. even then if that was the case there is the possibility that this process could be FCAW-G

It is mig look at whats in her hand and look behind her by her head IGNORANT FUCK it's a spool of wire AND a mig and you will get that noise when your welding at high temp with deep penatration heavy ga wire. She may have stop for a sec to jump over a spot weld. Not sure you know much at all.

All is well that ends well...I guess. There is no reason for this shit, I agree. It's just frustrating to see the welding trade get so clogged with people that are"the best welder in the world" You're right, I am not there so I can't be sure. It's easy to lash out after seeing the wage and respect that welders used to have plummet to record lows. I have been on so many firing lines where everybody is number one. I am happy to be number 2. You and I may have more in common than you think.?

how can ANYONE tell its FCAW?? It is IMPOSSIBLE to tell whether its MIG or FCAW unless you can see the wire. The set up in the workshop would clearly have a manifold gas system, so you wouldnt even see a gas bottle.I'd know-im a coded welder, all processes, all positions, all metals.

The fumes can be from the quality of metal she's welding, or her nozzle has just been dipped in the anti-stick formula, which also causes fumes. Fumes are not the best indicator to the type of welding too many factors come into play.

just did verticle t-joint today practicing for cwb all positions and had to do this 6010 1/8 down hand and that b*itch was just splattering everywhere thankfully i kept the fusion high enough so it didn't run my weld but none the less it was intresting
