They were protesting the NAFTA meetings in Miami several years ago. Most of the arrests were thrown out of court. The cops did not behave properly. They injured many people which resulted in lawsuits against the city. Not smart of the cops this time.

DU is relatively safe to handle in solid form. It is after it hits a target that it forms easily inhaled dangerous oxides. The effects would not be evident until years later, or simply appear as cancer or some other disorder. See Gulf War Syndrome. The administration is NOT going to pay for the medical treatment of all of those soldiers exposed to radiation, so it will not be reported as the cause.

Depleted uranium is in fact STILL RADIOACTIVE. In solid form it is relatively safe to handle. When exploded in shells or bullets approximately 40% of it turns into micron size ceramic particles (meaning no gas mask can filter it). All it takes is one micron to cause cancer through radiation. They responded correctly for the situation, the protesters had not cohered to the demands that the police had given, and it was totally correct of them to open fire, as for the woman in the red jacket, Did she honestly think that the police were carrying their weapons for no reason? And if she was armed, they would have responded in a completely different way, she should have expected a proportionate police reaction before she started.

Course, they can make mistakes just like any other human beings can, but that's irrelevant to this as they were merely responding in a way that they were trained to do. Obviously it wasnt right for the way that they laughed about it afterwards, but really they were doing whatever they could to protect the public and serve the majority of people who'd paid their taxes to pay the officer's wages.

The thing is that the protestors are actually criminals in this scenario. They clearly had no permit to rally for whatever their cause was. Freedom of speech is a two way street and when you're affecting traffic and generally harassing other citizens, you are now criminal, not political. Peaceful or not, you need to be authorized before you decide to march and obstruct the rights of everyone around you.
