There used to be two high schools in Newark; Memorial High and Newark High School. Silva Jr. High (grades 7 & 8) shut down the year I finished 8th grade and is now a townhouse complex @ corner of Newark Blvd and... Cedar (I moved away @ 25 years ago, memory of geog. hazy), near the police station. McGregor jr. high is now the dist. offices. Newark High, the following year, became Newark jr. High (grade 7-9). That same year, Memorial became Newark-Memorial (10-12).

First off why the hell is the school called newark memorial. what type of name is that, that's not the type of shit that should be in kids brain when going to school. I'll only answer the question about the name of the school. The name derived from our dedication to former Newark High School students who gave up their lives, fighting in the Gulf War, Vietnam War, and Korean War. Why you would judge the name of our school like that is a mystery.

dude i loved the lockdown our class had the doors barricaded wit desks our teach was hella chill and let us listen to music go on her computer too see what was goin on and we were plyin wit cards. i think it was about time somethin happened at our school that was interesting it was gettin hella boring and for me the lockdown was hella fun except the fact that it was hella unorganized but i got on the 5 o clock news and my friends and i were dancin in front of the camera
