Some of the titles on Live-Evil, including "Sivad", are "edits" of several tunes. "Sivad" includes snippets from a live "Directions", and two versions, studio and live, of "Honky Tonk". The band is playing "Honky Tonk" in this video.
I stand corrected - this is from a club called "Electric Factory". My uncle also reminded me that Miles played the old Quaker City Jazz Festival in Philly at the Spectrum in '69 and '72.
I should'nt have said it this way. Actually everyone has a right to listen to whatever they like,it's just that I was ticked off that they all spammed me and did'nt give me the same rights that they have to their own opinions
Any chance it's Dave Holland (can't see a face any place in this video) instead of Mike Henderson, and any chance that this is the Grammy show the year Miles got it for Bitches' Brew?
Miles was like a time traveler always decades-centuries ahead of everyone else. Only now is the magnificence of his musical vision being appreciated. Yet when he was creating this shit there was great weeping and gnashing of teeth...thankfully it has been recorded for the Star People he created it for
The track is honky tonk. Similar to the cellar door tracks, except a bit quicker. Possibly recorded a month or two earlier, which would make it oct-nov 1970.
This clip has been floating around for several years by itself ... I'm not sure if anyone has any other clips from this gig, but I'm sure I haven't seen any
Hell yes -- this is the "Cellar Door" band, with Gary Bartz, Keith Jarrett, Michael Henderson, Jack DeJohnette, and Airto. Wish I could see hours of this!!
the full dvd does exist, under the name "Electric Factory". I only got the first 10mn. Quality is really better.

I got to see Aierto in 1970 when I was 8 at the Concord Jazz Festival. He opened up for Buddy Rich. I was blown away at the stuff he was doing!

This gig is from a club called "Just Jazz", not the Spectrum.
utubeissad 3 years ago
What's your source for this information?
mendali 3 years ago
An uncle who booked Just Jazz from 1969-1975. Miles played the Spectrum for the first time in 1972, not '71.

Thx Mendali for posting this!!!!! =)
(What's with malboro1979's comment? He's trying to make his point by calling other people pricks...? Yeah, that'll work.)

Mike Henderson. You can tell by his musical and physical playing style. More animated and more neck work than Holland.
