  • Terry eagleton is not funny and should practice what he once preached ,leave the young girls alone.....

  • hahaha never thought Id hear Christopher Hitchens described as "illiterate"

  • Did Jesus actually know any pimps? I may have missed something in the Gospels.

  • bravo!!!!

  • I don't find Eagleton witty - his little wisecracks do not raise a smile with me - and he seems to endlessly circle the arguments - his whole style is one long aside.

  • Versions of the bible? He repeats this several times. Isn't the point of having the word of god written down that it cannot be subject to revision? Eagleton suggested which version of it you believe dictates that belief and you susbsequent behaviours. No wonder religions are losing the battle against rationality and simple sense. The whole credo is based on nonsense which can legitimately be revised to mean whatever you want it to mean. We are supposed to pledge our lives to this garbage?

  • Sorry sir but you're not on a par with the ppl you're scoffing at. Go one on one with either of them and let's see if you can address your arguments that easily just like you're doing here in front of a rabbi under & inside the 'templeton'. I think not.

  • I'm sorry, but I have to ask...What the fuck is a "broad generalisation"? Are not all generalisations, by definition, broad?

  • @HoneyIEducatedTheWeb I suspect that some are broader than others.

  • @Feargface

You're right. I've really no idea why I would have said something so stupid.

  • brilliant!

  • What a conceited religious asshole.

  • @zawam Wow, you really want to prove Eagleton's point for him like that Zawam?

  • @RomTheSpaceknight I'd be satisfied if anyone could *locate* Eagleton's point, with any degree of clarity or specificity.

  • @polymath7, in this clip that the case made against christianity is too simpistic, betraying an urgency that highlights political conservatism of those making it.
