Just a reasonig. We start transmiting radio signals at about 80 (say 100) years. These signals are 100 light years from Earth. Do you fools actualy belive that could be inteligent life in such vicinity. Any one who has a minimal scientific foundation know thats impossible. Just think for a moment in all those randon events that molded life in this planet. Starting from the crush from a planetoid the size of mars at 4,3 bi years ago that formed moom. Not to mention the other five life extintion .

@Fiskarfred The teams are there for an extra human element to make the whole thing competitive and fun. The "credits" are just a way to measure one computer against another. Some computers process the data faster than other computers, the credits are a fun way to measure how much data your computer has processed. Its gets very competitive!

I am tired of clicking on something to see or listen to, and it some LAME ASS video with MUSIC.

I have a CD player. I have an MP3 player. I have AM/FM radios. Heck, I can listen from .100 to over 1 gigahertz......

I prefer NOT to listen to U2 on any spectrum.

This and similar projects are the greatest possibility that came out of Internet. Universities can concentrate their money on different things, than expensive super-computers. it is shame though, that seti@home project has only 3 million users, rosetta only 86 thousand. Idle time of computers is valuable resource! Put your computer in real use! Support these projects by downloading the BOINC software. Doing so you support more than you would giving money to charity.

ok who made the rule that aliens must be transmitting in the GHz bands?..Think about this..we transmitt FM radio signals in 29 -108MHz, 137 - 999MHz 108 - 137 is aircraft AM modulated so it does not leave the earth due to the ionosphere...The aliens can't have an FM broadcast band in 88 - 108MHz or a common communications band in 150 - 174MHz? what aboua ham radio band like 144 - 148MHz? Yeah were gonna pick up weird stuff at 2GHz and higher GHz..microwaves are produced by stars too.

1420MHz is what is known as the "Hydrogen line". Google it and you will see why its used in SETI astronomy. Hydrogen is one of the most basic elements in the universe and it would be obvious to any intelligent life to transmit in the simplest way possible by transmitting on the hydrogen line.
