I just have to say that some intervention in families is good. It was for ours. My kids and I were trapped with a dangerous meth addict. If it wasn't for the intervention of CPS telling me if I didn't leave him and stay gone I'd lose my kids who knows what would have happened. It's because it's a guise of parents who are abusing their children - they want to be free to abuse their children as they see fit and when the state steps in to put a stop to the abuse parents make up all kinds of things to try to get their kids back. The kids are often terrified of their parents but will not even say anything to the court officials out of fear their parents will hurt them again. The "majority" of parents who protest having their kids taken away had them taken away by family courts after they get divorced. One parent is usually favored over another. Lawyers are having a field day [ it's all about money]. the scenario you said exist but not to the extent you're trying to show. The parents who protest the most are the ones who love the most.

The reason they are taken away is because one or BOTH parents are actively abusing the child. After cases of abuse are observed, through bruises/fractures or worse, the parents are stripped of ability to harm their kids.

This means that a mentally challenged child who is tricked by older bullies to pull a fire alarm will be arrested and sent to Juvenile Court where a magistrate will usually put the child in DCS custody.
