  • I noticed that you do not cover the top with plastic... You have got me thinking that these bins may be a great place to grow more worms. I have just completed my first bin today after your design. I used peat moss at the sides to bring up the water, then on top I put the rich compost. I am keeping my eye out for more of those water containers... They do the trick.

  • Nice to see ya back.

  • I absolutely missed your videos! I was so happy to see you had not one, but *two*! =)

I must say, I'm quite addicted to watching! =) You taught me how to make self-watering containers. =) And by the way, it is one of the best videos out there!

I'm rather jealous of the length of your growing seasons! Can you grow things all year round?!

What's your favorite veggies/fruits to grow?

What's your favorite veggies/fruits to eat?

  • @amberger35: I like to grow lettuce and carrots through the winter, they do well here and no bugs to contend with. Through the summer, tomatoes are always a favorite, along with hot peppers. Last year I discovered 8-ball zucchini that did exceptionally well here and were fun to grow. My stawberries were new last year so I am looking forward to a nice crop this year. Yumm :o)

Thanks for watching and asking. ~Jeri

  • This will show you how new I am at the vermicomposting - you mentioned you put your castings, worms and all, into your containers. Since we're feeding our worms in the bin with food scraps, what are they eating in the containers? Yeah. I'm almost embarrassed to ask the question, I'm sure it's a no brainer, but I'm so hungry to learn that I decided to bypass pride. =)

  • @amberger35: There is much organic matter in the mix and I leave some roots and leaves mixed in from dead plants when I replant. Also, I use organic fertilizers such as worm castings or worm tea so not to harm the worms. Thanks for asking. ~Jeri
