Archbishop Lazarus kidnapped leoric's son, albrecht, and diablo possessed him instead (that's the one you see in the ending video). The king, who was now mad, sent groups of knights to try and find his son.

As a result, his lieutenant, the knight Lachdanan, was forced to kill the king, and with his dying breath the king cursed the knights to forever walk the earth, and thats how you get the death knights in the hell levels (theres even a quest revolving Lachdanan).

I killed diablo with a lvl 24 warrior by luring him to the top maze. Only 3-4 hell knights followed.

@HCNguyen86 I just recently replayed Diablo as a warrior. I ended up killing him @ level 25. I used Holy Bolt to tag him (the random mobs around him are immune, and thus it just flies right through them, but Diablo isn't).

D3 i recan will be fun. I'm a little disapointed that the gothic theme is out of the picture but looking at the game play it is going to be epic. The boss fights don't look all that fun though =(. I personally prefer D1 and D2 2d graphics to other games. Think if they combined the amount of animations each movement has in Diablo 1 with the amount of different animations in Diablo 2 it'd be perfect.

just in my opinion, Diablo 1 looks better than Diablo 2. Not in color depth but the detail of player/monster anims.

All they need is super high-res sprites and a lot of different animations for all different angles and i think it'd be better than a 3D diablo while still having the old feel.

I dk why but the butcher + skelly king arnt killable in all the games. it kinda randomly changes the levels abit and such but if you see a dead man outside curch the very first time you enter then you can kill butcher and skelly king. Its a dying man telling you 2 revenge him by spalying butcher.

Hahah I remember maybe 12 years ago, I use to trick the newbies in to the dungeon, so I would kill them! Well not always. But it was one of the best multiplayer games at the time. There was so much cheats that would crash the whole game, some people would put firewalls or kill us in town (disabled later). The funniest thing was to trick people into the dungeon with the monster generator; there would be only Butchers everywhere or Skeleton Kings XD!! Super great game of my childhood!

You can have both this and the butcher. You get either this or poisened water, though leoric is more of a challage. There is a secet area on this level, by the way. Bust the crucified skeletons in the four corners, and another area with more monsters and treasures opens.

It's longer. It's more varied in terms of characters, environments and enemies. It's visually more appealing. It's controls and UI are far improved. It has a far more coherent and engaging storyline.

no, if you look close enough to Leoric he has a crown on top of his head, the crown is a frequent drop (not sure if it drops every time) in this game when you kill, him it was very nice for melee

Countless hours of my life spent playing this game...and Diablo II. I can't wait for Diablo III.

The Skeleton Kings name is King Leoric. He's going to be the first challenge you have to face in Diablo III, just like in Diablo I.

This boss only showed up about 30% of the time you started a new character. Most of the time the first boss was The Butcher, a Red Fat Demon with a Meat Clever.

I rarely ever fought King Leoric but when I did, he always dropped his unique Crown.

Pretty bad ass.

LAN is possible, I tried and thought the same. All you gotta do is open your "Network Connections" in control panel, right click what ever connection you're using, choose "properties", click install under the general tab, highlight "protocol" and you should see something like "NWLink IPX/SPX..." install it and you can play a LAN game. Hope that helps!
