There has to be a certain surfactant in there too or else the iron powder comes out of solution and clumps as a solid. With the surfactant in place, the iron has to bond to the oil, thus gaining the viscous liquid qualities of the oil, and giving the oil an ability to respond to magnetic fields.

yeah the oil is the problem it is black gets everywhere and doesnt come out

it stains whatever it touches but can be washed fairly easily
