is that a british police car? since when did we use red lights, because by law blue is just for the emgergency services that why doctors have green, and red for diplomats i think, but i was thinking of putting red lights on but if the police can have them now hats the point!
Here in Iceland we only use blue, although there has been the idea of using red for police as an order to stop, while blue just means "get out of the way!"
We use red lights only on the rear of emergency vehicles. It's for the same reasons as red brake lights, the human eye can see the colour red clearer from a further distance than blue.
@Zildjian285 Green is for an emergency vehicle used by doctors. White lights on police cars are usually 'alley lights' or used for lighting the scene of an incident. Red lights are used on the rear of police cars, usually when stopped as they are more visible than blue lights. :)
in response to alfadust, is a speeding uninsured driver who runs over an elderly lady, killing her, smashes into another car and cannot afford to pay for the damage, a criminal or not?
You're being quite ignorant if you don't realise that many/most 'routine' criminals (such as those you've mentioned) use cars. Very often a vehicle stop for a minor thing can lead to greater crimes being realised.
the light system is based on the american cop cars

Loads of police cars use them now, mostly the undercover cars

Why would you put red light on your car anyway?
I've seen emergency services in the UK use blue, red, green and white strobes.
I saw an ambulance with green, blue and white light the other day.
