All I can say is this guy was a pure musical genius and had a wonderful talent for singing anything he ever wanted to. RIP Ronnie, you are missed all over the world!
I just realized that even back then, Dio was still short, and that made me laugh. Who'd have guessed back then that that short yet good looking Italian guy who could sing so well would lead thousands and thousands of teens years later while singing some of the most aggressive music to ever exist.
Ronnie was a God. And I call him Ronnie simply because he wasn't known as Dio at this point.
@carmacky it's Ronnie James Dio, yes shocking isn't it he went from this to rainbow black sabbath that's pretty much three generations of music one person.
I was 13 years oid the first time i met Dio and I stepped on his foot. hahaha what a way to start a story right! the end....i met him about 3-4 times after that, and I definitely feel very lucky have had that privilege. I know that I wasn't even alive during the times of his prime but he is an inspiration to me and alwase will be. R.I.P Ronnie James Dio...
Can someone tell me what label this was on? I know The Prophets were signed to Atlantic in 1962, but I'm not sure what year this is from. Great rendition btw.
He was actually a handsome dude when he was young. It just goes to show that truly talented people can excel in any situation. As the music scene changed he adapted.
I love his early stuff! I wonder why he didn't become one of the teen idols of the day back then? Seems like he had the right look and definitly had more talent then most of the idols then. Just didnt catch the breaks I guess. Lucky for us I guess, he might have stopped with that and we would have missed out on so much majic!
Whoa! Smoother than a smooth thing on a really smooth surface! Goes to show he was class, even though I prefer songs like Neon Knights & Holy Diver! :o)
@CannibaLouiST I was a young 16 year old kid when I saw Dio in 86 at a place here in Dallas called the Bronco bowl he played the arena that was connected to the bowling alley after the show he came and bowled a few games a great man who really cared for his fans.
The place to really here a tinge of where he would eventually go vocally was his in your face, smokin hot cover of OOH-POO-PAH-DOO , when he was with the prophets. It's actually on youtube. Solid freakin gold for any fan of rock n roll music.
@chupacabralien2999 hn He did a ton of stuff before he was just DIO. This, Elf, Rainbow, he did Heaven and Hell with Sabbath before the release of the Holy Diver album. He was a diverse and talented man.
Sounds like a cross between early Paul Anka and early Wayne Newton, with a lot of Tony Bennett influence. Truly one of the greats of all time, and not merely the greatest hard rock/metal vocalist of all time.
What a man! He is truly great. No question about it. No current musician can come close to the lasting power of this legend. I would like to see Justin Goober, do this.

Ha ha ha!!! Imagine all the old bags in the 70s & 80s bitching
about "horrible Rock music" by groups like Elf, Rainbow,
Black Sabbath and Dio....all led by the singer of this song!
