I think this song represents , christ and the holy mother , and the song as resurfaced throughout folklore as a reminder of christ as a baby and the love that was and is.
i remember hearing as a child the bust stop biscuit barrel and this reffered also to winkin blinkin and nod , it is a hidden message from god and just as apt today as then.
@petebro69 "Wynken, Blynken, and Nod" is a popular poem for children written by American writer and poet Eugene Field and published on March 9, 1889. The original title was Dutch Lullaby.
The poem is a fantasy bed-time story of three fishermen sailing and fishing in the stars. Their boat is a wooden shoe. The fishermen symbolize a sleepy child's blinking eyes and nodding head. It has NOTHING to do with ANY religion, what so ever!
@CahanTiarnan Try and remember, every person has their own way of looking at things, In his or her own perspective. Just like you , just like me, just like petebro69, and eevveryone else.
I have an album from the '60's called The Simon Sisters containing this song and many other wonderful ones. their harmony is incredible. When i bought it back then, Carly Simon had not yet become a solo star.
I think this is the one my mum always sang to me - she probably heard it when it was new - although hers sounded a little different. Naturally, hers will always be the #1 version for me. I loved reading the poem when I was little.
The Simon Sisters appeared on UK TV maybe 1965(?) singing a wonderful version of the anti-war song "Johnny I Hardly Knew You". I've been hoping to see again it ever since, but I was told that the original tapes were almost certainly thrown away because of shortage of storage space (as was the standard practice by television companies in those days).
Anyone have a recording you can upload of them singing Sally Go Round the Sun? Thanks
