  • I really noticed a difference post 2:12, the 2004 version looks pitiful.

  • I found a some footge of some sparks for you by le Maitre pyrotechnics company, perhaps you could composite one of these at 0.50 to give the effect as they used pyrotechnics no doubt in the original. quite handy that they are on a black background too!!

    search you tube for this

LeMaitre ProStageII: Prostage II White Airbursts

  • I think it needs a little more spark at 0.50 to keep it in line with the other storm troopers getting hit by lasers but I can see that you added a subtle spark in already as in the original there is none....well done on all of it anyway

  • the sky looks so much better

  • I have to admit, the windows were one of the few good alterations and they actually look even better in the revisited. I won't be able to stand to watch the rest of the altered blu-rays, though.

  • In my opinion, Empire is by far the best Star Wars movie. I also didn't care for Lucas's tarting it up. He addes absolutely nothing. It is interesting that it is the episode he was the least involved in making. Return was deeply disappointing to me.

  • Why do these movies keep getting 'upgraded'? Jesus christ just let them be.

  • Don't you think you should add reflections on the floor for the blaster bolts? I'd say the floor is definitely reflective enough to transmit the light from the blaster bolts, and it looks a little awkward that you can see the reflection of the characters and halls, but not the blasts.

  • Why is the special edition so damn blue?

Also what's this and where can I find it? your channel has no description or links to any information whatsoever.

  • ¡¡¡Maravilloso!!!!!, mucho mejor que el original!

  • My only complaint is that you're using the SE version as the base. Honestly you could just remaster the theatrical version and I'd be totally happy, if you ask me Empire was 100% perfect as it was in 1081, before Lucas decided to have horrid looking, obviously-CGI-windows everywhere and the Wampa standing around looking goofy with one arm.

  • @ShinGallon actually i am using the 1980 version as a base for this. I've kept only a few of the SE additions. the windows in cloud city i kept because those go back to the original Ralph Mcquarrie production paintings. The SE wampa is gone, the shuttle flight to the executor is also gone. The editing of this version will be closer to the 1980 version than the SE. I actually did remaster the 1980 version last year

  • @adywanuk

Oh fucking sweet, I'm gonna have to find your 1980 version remaster. And I'll definitely give your Revisited a shot, I absolutely loved your ANH Revisited.

  • @ShinGallon i'll send you the link to the download page. you will need a free program called jdownloader to load the .dlc file that is on the site. this contains all the links instead of having to load in each one individually

  • Unfortunately the only available theatrical version are such bad quality that no amount of remastering could get them looking good enough for HD. They don't even look good on DVD.

  • @adywanuk I heard sometime in the 90s they released a better quality theatrical version. Unfortunately, not being a Star Wars expert, I don't know how to obtain it and I believe it is very rare.

  • @bhorwith22 Would that be the 80 or 90s Laserdisc versions?

  • @soupful I'm not sure. Heck I don't own any versions of the movies right now (although I may buy them on Blu-ray later) Like I said I'm not your biggest Star Wars fan, I think I read it while I was browsing some forum, but laserdisc would be a good bet.

  • @adywanuk I have a Really good quality Theatrical Cut(s) of the 3 films. Theyre actually in very Crisp clear quality. I can show you them.

  • @ShinGallon in real life, this city would be full of windows, lucas had to make it no windows in 1980 because it was so difficult

  • you corrected 3po head knocking off the red light the ramp, gawd bless you! :) could we have annoted version too? I'm a little sad as I'm sure we won't see these upgrades in Blu-ray!

  • @lukenukem1976 there will be a 720p Blu-Ray version for all of the Revisited edits. I'm going back to redo ANH:Revisited in 720p after i have finished ROTJ:R

  • Its sad that one man can put this much amazing work into something, and the Blu Rays probably wont include anything more than an upgraded port of the 2004 DVDs. You should seriously contact Lucasfilm with some of your ideas dude.

  • I'll understand if you wanna punch me for asking this. But the facebook page gives a release date close to the end of 2011. I've read you've had some problems with your hardware, but is the release that far back now?

  • @kblargh yes it has been pushed back to december 2001 at the earliest. it wasn't just the hardware problems but last year my Mum died and then shortly after my Dad found out he had cancer, so i have been spending most of my time looking after him. He is now recovering after his operation to remove the cancer but it's going to be a while yet before i can get back to working on this edit full time.

  • @adywanuk Even though i don't know you or your family, i'm sorry to hear that. I hope your father makes a full recovery.

  • Did the Revisited one revert the city back to its theatrical architecture?

  • @MichaelAarons1701 No, he is keeping the new architecture because it was a McQuarrie design. That means the windows and such will still be there.

  • @scottb3034 The only reason I asked was because they've spent most of their time just going back to theatrical style and I had heard that the architecture was changed all over just to cater to/match new effects shots back in '97. My only dislike is all of the new windows they added just to show stuff going on.

  • Ady, I love what you've done with this. All the traffic leaving and the retracting of the Falcon's landing pads and upgrading the skies are bang up! The also like the color correction but that just goes without saying.

  • in the 2004 dvd everything is slapped with a blue filter even at 1:28 when they are escaping outside. Shouldn't it be redish outside due to the sun setting? Lucas, just because you can add a blue filter doesn't mean you should.

  • my all time favorite movie!! John WIlliams FTW!!! =)

  • I just love the color correction...

  • The lighting and sunset are gorgeous...

  • I love how you fixed the light going off on the Falcon that 3PO's head hits. Always bugged me when watching the movie

  • It could be cool if you put different languages options for the dvd by using the tracks from the 2004 dvd. (Sorry for bad english)

  • Wow! The Falcon take off is amazing! Effing Sweet!

  • amazing!!!! perfect !!!!!!!

  • amazing

  • it's still a pain in the ass to see what one devoted fan is capable of achieving, when compared to lucasarts and the crap they came up with! adywanuk, you RULE man ... if it was for me, lucas should have left you handle the SE for the OT ^_^

  • while i dont like the fat that you took out the SE edits of Cloud City im very happy by this

  • l love it however the fans that praise the visuals confuse me, that shot of them going to the falcon looks like the same tech and maybe even a bit wors then the prequels and th special editions. when peope bitch about cgi with lucas but love the fan edit they are simply just sucking. i mean it looks like it came right from episode 2 or 3. i love it but except for the edits on mos esley andthe jar jarbinks shit i dont see how this is any difforent from the Lucas style edits. i scene hypocrites

  • is there any way i can order this movie online or something? very good work!

  • I like the clouds moving and the small ships flying off.

  • The new backgrounds look professional! Adywan, you've done it again! :)

  • I like the new platform painting, but I still do like Ralph McQuarrie's original. It just looks out of place among the new Special Edition Bespin exteriors though - they replaced most of the other Bespin matte paintings from '80, so I'm not sure why they left that one in...

  • Man this Revisited version keeps getting better and better.

  • must say, this is impressive work, why don't you work for Lucas? i like after the sencond time i played the different buildings added when the falcon takes off. the color correction is great, wonder why Lucas's team did not do as good, why do you think ? they have the tools...

  • Amazing!

  • Holy balls Adywan! You're so fucking good. I don't see how you do it. What programs do you use to do all this? Cause if you're using Vegas then I really need to brush up on my editing skills! lol

  • @JDBCreations i use Adobe After Effects for all the FX work and colour correction and Vegas for the editing process and colour tweaking.

  • @adywanuk Vegas is great for colour correction. Plus its pretty cheep to buy.

Have you tried using Magic Bullet with Vegas? I use it to tweek my colour corrections slightly - to great effect.

Looking forward to the edit. You did such a great job with Star Wars, I'm sure Empire is going to be amazing.

  • Are we still looking at a Christmas release?

  • @therealjsin yes, fingers crossed. But there is still a lot of work to do

  • I love it when the Falcon takes off the engines kick-in! now the whole scene looks like it's in one place and not a mesh of different paintings, very good job!

  • I'm glad you fixed the broken red light at 1:51 too. That always bugged me :-)

  • Fantastic work. My only criticism is that compositionally i think the sky at 2:15 detracts just a slight bit too much. It is a bit fussy. But really good work!

  • @chrisjhart221138 actually, I just looked at the full screen version, and it looks pretty good.

  • @chrisjhart221138 I think the new matte looks much more realistic than the old one, which is instantly recognizable as a painting. The falcon is still the center of the frame, I think it was a very good revision. Just my opinion :) I'm looking forward to this so much, can hardly wait!

  • @SGTBizarro Sorry I meant to say the previous shot, which is a reverse shot on the stormtroopers, looking back at cloud city. The one with the falcon in is perfect!

  • Nice work dude!

  • Damn I never realized how horribly remastered the 2004 version was. Is it me or does the 2004 version sort of have a blueish tint to it?

  • @sheemobile you are correct that the 2004 version does indeed have a blue tint to it. But you think that scene is bad. The Hoth scenes are almost completely blue

  • @adywanuk

Hoth looks less like a snow planet and more like National Geographic footage of diving in the ocean. Everything is completely blue and...stupid.

Anyway, loving the new city shots and colours, the film looks brand new.

  • Much MUCH better! :)

  • Excelent job

  • Great job, you even took way the black object on that Storm trooper that gets killed in the very first second in this video. That is some of the things they should have improved in the first place. when they did the release for the DVD. I really wonder why George has changed.

Watch these video and you will see the differences: From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga - Part 1 of 7

  • Loads better. Thanks for the preview!

  • Jeez the background looks horrible on the DVD version when the falcon is standing on the platform. The clouds looks like they were pasted in from photoshop! Nice work on the changes, looks a lot better!
