Love the teqnique and I know nothing about u or that horse but that could confuse him running him in circles when he was doing nothing just my 2 cents reply if u want but that's just a mixed signal that the horse could be getting
The theory is.. If the horse wants to move, we Make him move, a little further and a little faster than he thought he wanted to. Pretty soon, if we are consistant, he comes to believe that if he moves without being instructed he will be Told to move, further and faster than he wanted to. Soon enough he will stand... Just be consistant in your corrections..
@nacomagenic Just make sure you are consistant and 'correct' a horse every time they do something wrong Every time. If you let him move once in awhile and only correct him once in awhile, THAT confuses them. If sitting on him and he walks forward just casually gather the reins and back him up 2-3 steps then Drop the reins. If he wants to Fidget a lot, pull his head to the side then reach back with your foot and kick his hip once, give him 3 strides to come to a stop or Thump him again!
Thank you so much! My 5 yo TB used to move around heaps when I tried to mount even when somebody was holding onto him from the ground. After I saw your video I started applying these techniques and after about a week, I could get on with no hassles and it's stayed that way!
thanks for this video. excellent horseman ship. and i like the idea of making the horse uncomfortable but not hurting them. my 5 yr old appendix doesnt like to stand still for mounting. hes very impatient and likes to nible. hes a handfull but we are working on it. thanks for the video.
Thanks alot, this video has helped me understand the mounting technique alot more. I was also having trouble getting my left foot into the stirrup, but I see the fix to that problem in this video also!!!
This was extremely helpful. I just recently bought a horse in June and I was trying him out and me not thinking to check the girth because it felt snug then he puffed out (stupid mistake i rarely forget to check it) then I went to get on him and the saddle slid and must have caused him a bit of pain and from then on he was moving off from me and and before I bought him he never moved so I beleive I caused it. I saw this video in the beginning of july and have been working with him and hes perfec
Reinforce the horse for keeping four feet still. You can't train a don't.

Thanks, have been dealing with moving off while mounting for 8 years! Gets better, goes away, comes back.....I use a mounting block.
