When the Lewises came on the show around 1983, were they trying to make them like The Ewings of Daytime since they were both Southern.

I've always thought that GL was trying to capture the popularity of the Ewings on Dallas w/ the Lewis family's introduction.....you can even equate each Lewis family member w/ the Ewings: HB is equivalent to Jock Ewing...Billy Lewis to JR Ewing....Reva to Sue Ellen....Josh to Bobby...Melinda Sue to spoiled Lucy Ewing... etc.

I miss these characters, actors, and sets of GL. The show is so not interesting today it's not like this anymore.
