Thinking on 'can't do solar' ... or wind, or waves ... way too expensive. Wonder how expensive Japan's recent heartbreaking catastrophy has, and will be?
Sun. Wind. Waves. Clean, quiet, free ... no body has to die, fast or slow. Cost mostly in original installation followed by relatively minor upkeep.
Do need to do our very best for all the wildlife that is affected. Do love this design. So many options with color, pattern, etc.
@Wolfiemouse I know, but nuclear is still useful. It's safe when the rules are followed, and the plants are built in the right places. "Clean energy" is just not yet to the point where it can power the world. One day, maybe... :)
hi my name is max, i had just this idea, about a year ago on a smoke break at work, what is the efficiency of these turbines and do you know how many street lamps there are so that calculations could be done?
@curatrix2008 I came back to acknowledge you are an idiot. You said search for a specific phrase. I did. 0 results with that title. Go suck on a genital wart you troll. See, that is how name calling feels. Get a life.
@curatrix2008 I stand in awe at the level of intelligence required to make a comeback so clever, wait, no I don't. I happen to be happy, healthy and clean. See, I would have said come suck one instead of go suck one. Seriously though, go suck one.
Windless Windmill (wind turbine) Farms 100% Fuel Free and 100% GHG Emissions RPM Mfg. license lease at EURO 5000 per MW unit. RPM Wind Farms can power up the entire USA, China, Europe, Australia India the OnePlanet Guy
i've been thinking the same thing, if you have batteries on board, like 1200lbs worth as ballast in a sail boat, you could fit it on the mast and use electric motors for propulsion that would be small but provide more than enough revolutions to push the boat at 15-20knots
This turbine is constructed upside down. The exit track should be down. Doing so reduces bearing friction by actually creating uplift, reversing this as is shown increases bearing friction and decreases bearing life....Just a thought.

WORLD RECORD: BIGGEST WIND TURBINE
Visit: windturbinecarriedbywheels.weebly.com
ZERO-NOISE from the gears and the generators because they are sealed underground (Only the outer parts of the turbines may be heard.).
SAVES THE BIRDS AND BATS because the turbines are slow-moving since the speed is in the transmission gears and in the generators.
DOES NOT NEED TO OCCUPY WIDE LANDSCAPE because the turbine can be very tall.
HELPS THE WIND ENERGY COMPANIES because it is FREE FOR ALL.

I don't know; it doesn't look like it would hold up to sea travel. There's a lot of electrical needs on a sailboat.

the turbine design is not so normal, we use 4 bearings inside the turbine, so your worry is no problem

I would think this way would make lift as the surface that catches the wind goes up.
Im confused.
