That's not true, in fact, rape statistics are much higher in places where pornography is not permitted. @kdubwilli the utilitarian arguement aside; logically, and emperically, there is plenty of evidence that pronography decreases sex crime rates, because it relieves the cumulative and inevitable chemical/hormonal tention that males experience almost always. Very sick people however can be triggered by almost anything.

I personally know married men with children who have told me they were never abused as a child, and it was porn that ruined their marriage. It got to the point where they needed something that involved a higher risk, so these people then solicit themselves online to meet with strangers to have sex.

The girl with the "amazing hat" asked a valid question and after thinking for a moment, I came to this conclusion. With most "fantasy" that I've observed through movies or books, it usually has a good moral point the creators try to get across (with the exception of some of course). This doesn't normally make us feel bad about reality but rather pushes us to live better. Porn doesn't do that, it makes many healthy, normal relationships insecure by showing people that do it better than them.
It is fantasy. It did get me to do things that I would have never thought of doing. And guess what, my wife loves it. Porn made me a wonderful lover. I know this, my wife knows this, our neighbors know this.

I agree. However, the people that were debating against porn were Christians. And I would think that saying that it is against God's will would actually help people to understand why it is wrong. Because if there is no God then everything that the people who are debating for porn say is true. The only way to understand why porn is bad is to understand that God says so. Without a moral law giver then there is no true right and wrong and then nothing is wrong with porn.
What it comes down to is that a lot of Christians condemn enjoying Porn as a sin or a vice, but there are many other sins that ALL people commit daily, such that it would be hypocritical to stone people for one glaring vice, but have a double standard when it comes to ones own sin. All sins are equal in the eyes of God. Jesus' true message was that we need to forgive each other for our sins, to not judge each other for we are ALL sinners and to love one another no matter how sinful we may be.
Here is a thought. Do you think someone like Hitler would burn in hell after the atrocities he had committed or do you honestly believe that after his death, standing before God, if he truly repented, that he would be taken under God's divine providence and authority, forgiven for his sin as God forgives all the faithful? I personally know married men with children who have told me they were never abused as a child, and it was porn that ruined their marriage. The girl with the "amazing hat" asked a valid question and after thinking for a moment, I came to this conclusion. With most "fantasy" that I've observed through movies or books, it usually has a good moral point the creators try to get across (with the exception of some of course). This doesn't normally make us feel bad about reality but rather pushes us to live better. Porn doesn't do that, it makes many healthy, normal relationships insecure by showing people that do it better than them.

Alcohol has been consumed since the earliest days, some have problems with it, others done. Automobiles, while innovative and now considered a necessity, can be fatal in a crash. Porn can be sexy, for sure. But, the issue is that the industry has changed so much, and not for the better. There's 100,000 times more of it, 10 times as hardcore (lots of nasty nasty stuff), and as easy to see as opening your fridge, than 15 years ago. The stuff that is really prevalent on the web is not 'erotica', it's shocking, and obviously there's a huge market for it. Consuming may not inevitably lead to becoming a criminal, but what's good about piles of video that depicts degradation?

Their purpose is not to promote God. If they do so, they'll lose much of their audience. Their main purpose is to help those with porn addictions, and talking about God won't resonate with them -- maybe that will come later. What it comes down to is that a lot of Christians condemn enjoying Porn as a sin or a vice, but there are many other sins that ALL people commit daily, such that it would be hypocritical to stone people for one glaring vice, but have a double standard when it comes to ones own sin. All sins are equal in the eyes of God. Jesus' true message was that we need to forgive each other for our sins, to not judge each other for we are ALL sinners and to love one another no matter how sinful we may be.

I think that at the end of the day everyone is going to have a choice and realistically i feel that if you don't want this in your family there are ways to keep it out. Even if it was true that porn did compel people to commit crimes or deviant behaviors (which according to Jeremy, who actually cited studies rather than his personal experiences, does not), there's no indication those people would not have committed crimes or deviance anyways. Because a) it is in direct contradiction to Ron Jeremey's point and b) if it was only one person that ever used it as a defense it would be one ting, but it is used on a regular basis, not just for murder, but rape, molestation and other problems. It's not the beer industry's fault that people die in drunk driving wrecks or the smoking industry isn't to blame for lung cancer either. Every person that has an addiction is in essence responsible, but that doesn't make it blameless or right.

The tobacco industry's blatant advertising to children and adolescents is not blameless, but if a grown adult makes the choice to smoke knowing the consequences, then they are solely responsible for their actions. I used to smoke but I never blamed Marlboro for MY addiction. It was also up to me to quit the habit, not Marlboro, not anyone else.

It's amazing that Ron believes that it is acceptable or even healthy to "seperate love from sex". This is not conducive to anything resembling monogamy. It DOES contribute to a propensity towards infidelity. It is also within the realm of duplicity of mind, which schizophrenics and sociopaths share as well.

The truth of the matter is, love and sex are two different entities, and one can be experienced and practiced without the other. Some people can handle having one night stands with no strings attached, with no shame and no regrets. I for one prefer love with sex, over loveless hedonistic sex, but it would be foolish to deny others what might be perfectly healthy for them.

if your speaking of my comment on arranged marriages, think of a marriage that has is devoid of love. Instead it is based purely on respect. The woman knows the man is a hard worker, he might not look the best, he might not be a charmer, but he is a good father, loyal and provides his family well. The woman is loyal, fills the role or mother and keeps things in order at home. The SEX in this relationship is purely for pleasure and child bearing, no love and was meant as an example of such.
