Nice shots of the 'Baby Snakes SG' and Zappa's numerous custom stompboxes. Is that Ray White playing Zappa's old switchmaster? Great video of a true original.
On the liner notes of the Shut up albums it's always described as a 'hand made copy SG': "The fifth guitar would be the SG copy that I got from this guy in Phoenix, Arizona. It says "Gibson" on it, but it's handmade, and it's got an ebony fretboard with 23 frets on it; it goes one fret higher than a normal SG. I play that a lot."
It appears to be a heavily customised SG. Mucho rewired (just check out all the switches!) and probably with embedded crystal pick-ups, i think a lot of his guitars had them and i know they contribute a lot to his sound.
I heard that he had to retire this guitar because it broke apart at the neck joint, probably from years of bending the neck to get his "whammy bar" effect.
Most definately a Gibson SG. It was FZ's guitar of choice for most of his playing years. He switched to a Fender Strat around the time that Ike Willis and Ray White joined the band. They played three identical White Strats. I always thought that the SG gave FZ that distinct sound until I saw him in concert w/ the Strat and he still had that sound. He always tuned his guitars offstage 3 or 4 times during a show.
@FZmustacheFZ Thanks, I didn't recognize him & was too lazy to research it.

Who is this drummer, Bozzio or Vinnie ? He does'nt sound like the VC of Joes Garage, as far as I ear.

Perhaps the stupidest song in Zappas entire catalogue. Whatever, he had to eat. Still Genius.

Yes, do not let the headstock fool you, this is NOT a Gibson SG. It was made by a luthier and FZ had it for $500!
He was definitively one of the greatest guitar players EVER!

This SG can be played only by this great man. Frank, the world isn't a good place to live without your intelligence and musicality
