I've got my own theory on what might have happened to Admiral Hackett. Maybe the shear force of the reapers broke theough his ships and kicked his but, so he had to scatter the fleet and perform the "get the heck out of here" maneuver. I think he might be on Mars, if not, I still think Hackett might be one of the first people you meet after Earth. But this is just what I thinl.

@gamermd83 Pressing down on the d-pad should help with the issue regarding squadmates. That will relieve them of where they have been posted or communicate to them that you wish for them to follow you.

And thats why Soverign needed Saren to do the hard work, because in the start Soverign had no idea what happened and how to correct it, until they dig upp that protean becon on Eden Prime. The becon told them that the proteans had a "secret project " on ilos, trough the conduit they could prevent the next invasion of the Reapers, and that gived a chance of shephard ( Vigil ) to counter Saren to upen upp a gate to the dark space manually.

Actually it wasnt becouse Shephard, that the Reapers cannot come across the citadel, it was because of the hibernated protean sciense team, who was sleeping at ilos, they were hibernated long enough to make their way back to the citadel trough the conduit after the reaper destruction, and alter the keepers so they werent able to respond the singnal of Sovereign, who was left behind on purpose.

After a long and intense battle between Shepard and TIM, they come to the realization that they are perfectly matched opposites. They also realize that the only time they ever experienced true happiness was when they where in each others presence.

After the main story in ME3, TIM leaves Cerberus and Shepard leaves the Alliance. They open a Bed and Breakfast in Vermont as "business partners" and they live happily ever after.

I am 99.9% sure that Jack and Miranda are not permanent Squad-Mates. This is due to someone spoiling all of the permanent Squad-Mates. I recall their being 7 Squad-mates, excluding the DLC character.

If you want who they are, they are Garrus, Tali, Ashley/Kaidan, Liara, Vega and 2 spoiler ones that I will not say ;)

I bought Mass Effect 1 & 2 on Steam this week. Never played a Mass Effect game before. But your videos have convinced me to check out. Particulary the lore surrounding the game, is what I found intriguing.
