If you run a story on credit card fraud, you always get an influx in cash being used instead..................................................who is really asking for this story??? Do you think Best Buy and Home Depot had a say in this story, maybe they need an influx in cash sales??? Makes ya think!!
This video is a joke. Most retail stores have more than one network, usually one for customers with no security. And I don't know how old this video is but WPA doesn't cost anymore than WEP does. And if TJMax was using wep than they were idiots (and the people who shop there were idiots too). That is why I usually shop online. I wasnt aware that retail stores use wireless networks to connect to a main server. The most secure way is to go wired.
i think its hilarious that people dont see the pre-planning pyschology used to convince them that credit cards are even needed! not only is it really unsafe but the human race has lived fine without them before! for large occasions thats a different story but who wants someone to know everything your buying, to take annual percentages from you, and that just basically is designed by someone laughing in our faces for even taking to the concept
How is it expensive to upgrade to WPA? All they have to do is upgrade the firmware in the routers. It would only cost a couple hours wage at each store to have a guy install new firmware and update the new config files after store closing hours. That's not the reason at all. They just didn't care and used expenses as an excuse.
Agreed that WEP is a joke, WPA is not as easy. You need a little luck and a the patience of Buddhist Monk. Unless someone is using a "12345678" type password, you'll be in for a lot of CPU time.
the tech forensics guy was using kismac... the how to crack wep guys was nox and patchy. and what did tjx upgrade to? whats their big security encryption to save the day now? most likely wpa WHICH HAS ALSO ALREADY BEEN CRACKED! use cash ppl. these assholes dont care about your security!
No one said anything for a guy operating I mean driving a car and using a laptop?? he should get a ticket, 60 minutes is promoting people driving while doing other things!!!!! (I'm pro hackers sorry hahahahaha)
Wow, that lady is a tool, she should get her technological terms correct.
Also, WEP is an encryption standard that can be broken within a minute; this even holds true for your twenty-four digit metacharacter passwords.
Anyways, If I ever become a criminal, this will be my next job, That and figuring out who this lady is, and buying a nice home in the keys, courtesy of her mushroom haircut.
Well considering that anyone could use as lame terminology as she has used, the whole article, and the staff who wrote it are retards.
Flashback, WEP was deprecated a while back.
I could become an awesome reporter, get a shitty haircut, ware some old womans underwear; and start using words like "hacker" and "hotspots" illegitimately.
She's the same type of person who'd install a rootkit on her computer, and then wonder why she can't go on the internet.
