  • That's what appens when 6 blind persons try to like a perfect vid.

  • Is he playing a DW kit? Looks a lot like one

  • @menickperez Truth Customs Drums kit.

  • 6 people cant drum for shit!

  • I was at this show in the front row hanging over the railing haha they were absolutely dope. I got the limited edition vinyl pressing of Messengers that day but it melted in my car =(

  • i was expecting marinaras trench next

  • What is on his drum kit or comes off the drum kit at 3:14???

  • @phyxiusix I think it's a mic.

  • @phyxiusix yeah.. His hi-tom mic falls off right he plays that last fill haha

Matt is to hardcore for his kit mics.

  • he's got a great style, saw them live at warped tour 2011 in portland. i get goosebumps everytime i hear the intro to this song lol

  • 0:36 is got to be the most badass drum fill i have ver heard in my entire life haha

  • TDWP amps in the back :)

  • Why I love Matt Greiner is when everytime he hit's the snare it sounds/looks FCUKING BEAST :] Fucking Nice!

  • i fucking love Matt greiner.. has anyone noticed that he always have a perfect posture? hahaha

  • @drummertim17 haha yeah he never moves. His body stays in perfect posture while his limbs just rock the set.

  • i love the fact that hes so good that people can have a short convo with him wilie hes playing an intense part of the song haha

  • What the crap!?!?! I didn't know it was possible to be this perfect. Does he have a metronome in his head or something?

  • @hibrandonhi technically the drums are the metronome, haha and the rest of the band is following him. the drummer is the quarterback of the band pretty much. hahaha

  • @MrPsyKOlogical yeah haha

  • 2:30 LOL

  • umm this isnt live

  • @guitarandblackops Your stupid..-.-

  • @mikeramaa it was a joke calm your tits

  • Does he freaking listen to a metronome while he plays live? I've never ever seen a drummer that plays the EXACT same tempo as the record without assistance. Very nice!

  • Of course hes perfect, you cant exactly fake drums.

Not saying its not impressve, matt is a fucking boss, :D

  • @greggorygogfreedom Perfect meaning he's like a human metronome. That's EXTREMELY fuckin hard. Almost guaranteed most bands can't be synced with recorded music because they get off time live. It happens.

  • lol 2:30 "oh shit i think i broke it...."

  • lol 2:30 "oh shit i think i broke it...."

  • the definition of 'perfection' is Matt Greiner!!! I don't think any drummer could own White washed any better than Matt

  • i take it he plays to a click?

  • 5 Peoples Dog just died cause it tried to start a mosh pit with the window.

  • 2:31 :

Matt : " DUDE GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY CYMBALS!!!"

  • joey stole my corndog and gave it to his cat< matt took me to the store and bought me a new one. thats the difference here:3

  • joey jordinson and slipknot can get bent cause matt greiner and abr is 10x better than that fag band

  • @MrDrummerFish So true, my friend.

  • @MrDrummerFish shut up seriously, quit bashing other metal bands joey jordison doesnt suck and just because abr is better than slipknot doesnt mean slipknot sucks. its just another group of guys expressing themselves through music. respect it. even if it doesnt fit your style.

  • @skaterfan105 - yea if you wanna express yourself through slitting your own wrists. and yes they do suck. they have nine guys and it sounds like absolute crap. you would think with 9 guys it would sound alright but no. every song sounds the same. i respect abr because of their faith and musicianship. i respect you for having your own taste in music. but i dont respect nontalented bands who are just about the shockvalue of what they do. the whole "maggot" death crazy masks deal. thats retarded

  • I am the vocals to my band i just started these past few months, and i told our new drummer to start watching Matts vids as homework lol.

  • @TmanTheLord Best. Homework. Assignment. Ever.

  • You know you're rocking out when your mic completely comes off the drum

  • 4 people are scared of cyborgs.

  • Dude, that's all part of a perfect drummer, I have now fallen inlove with August Burns Red just because of Matt Greiner!

  • Lmao fuck you guys, I listen to Slipknot and August Burns Red, they're both the top plays on my itunes..!

  • the tempo doesnt change, the feel of the groove changes alot but that is typical of matts playing. i read all the comments way down the page and all of you hilarious people got me curious so i got out my metronome. and why would it change..were listening to the album version as many of you geniuses have already pointed out

  • i spy a deavil wears prada amp !! roots

  • 4 people listen to slipknot...

  • @chadlee125 hahahah I agree

  • @chadlee125 LMFAO nice

  • i would love to hear the actual footge audio...

  • 3 people dont like watching perfection!

  • @tighe143 its six now.. T-T

  • fave part is 3:13 - 3:17

  • matt greiner's audio sync owned adam gray's xD

  • Pretty sure this was the alive fest. great show!

  • @MrWitz95 Revelation Generation festival in Frenchtown, NJ.

  • @reptar715 no one cares no you didnt you pussy

  • @ChrisGood7350 no one cares about your existence bro. go troll somewhere else. :)

  • @reptar715 BEAST

  • im pretty sure this is at rev gen i was there pretty sick concert

  • with roots above and branches below amp...?

when did they tour with Tdwp?

  • @tdwpobsession They didnt, i believe this was like a christian festival with tons of bands. They both just happened to play playing there.

  • he is perfect!!

  • @TheSomucheasier

    No jesus is perfect!

  • This is a recorded version played on a video of a live performance right?

  • this is awesome! what a unique view! I don't see the drummer's in ear's?

  • Wow.. Just wow at all the ignorant fucks below me who don't know proper english :)

  • He wears headphones with the song playing and a metronome over the song . That's the reason why is so perfect ;) .

  • @reydrop they are called in-ears everyone in the band generally wears them, they are very convenient for everyone to stay together =)

  • @reydrop The drummer for All That Remains ( Sorry I can't think of his name at the moment ) uses a metronome for when they place live. I think it would be near impossible without one.

  • @nojam4u Jason Costa or something

  • @bubbasock YES thanks you, that's it.

  • i dont like tempo change unless its a break down somone back me up with some thumbs up.....

    or not.

  • Comment removed

  • @YOWHATTHEHELLUP71 A really drummer plays everything live...

  • Yeah, the tempo does change....and it's VERY noticeable. If someone doesn't think tempos change multiple times in a song, then they need to go listen to Dream Theater and Tool...

  • @bhammondo A lot of their stuff just cuts in half time or changes signatures, not so much tempo.

  • XD I was cheesing thru the whole thing

    PERFECT

  • XD I was cheesing thru the whole thing

  • God Status! o.0

  • Comment removed

  • Lol who gives a fuck if the tempo changes?

  • How did you get backstage??

  • It's not the real video playing the music, they recorded it and put the real song over it. They're obviously playing the song, but they were a little off on some of the drum fills.

  • Dude I watch this video everyday. He's so fucking awesome, and my inspiration as a drummer.

Oh and by the way me and my girlfriend love your clothing line, I just ordered 3 shirts. Haha

  • @damondrumss Blake Richardson is a drummer Matt looks up to.

  • most drummers use a click track, its not the same as just having a metronome, because you're going to have to keep change the tempo, depending on if you do, i use a click track, its consists of the song im playing except just a click in the tempo of the song

  • EVERYONE ON HERE THAT SAYS ITS A "METRONOME" IS A FUCKTARD. IT'S CALLED A *CLICK TRACK* ASSHOLES!!!

  • @Marino4L ...They're the same thing. A metronome keeps the tempo, so does a click track. I know you use a "click track" to record, but they're synonymous.

  • @Kaittos no they're not. a metronome just "ticks", whereas a click track is the actual music (usually). it CAN be a metronome sound, but highly unlikely. And yes I drum, in case you're wondering if im pulling this out of my ass lol

  • is it just me or is the actual track playing?

  • @markyramone120 yeah the track is dubbed over the video but its showing that he keeps the exact temp with the song live. he does this for every song cuz hes just that badass

  • @stevo6009 he really is awesome, i met him today and his words changed my life, hes such an amazing guy and hes so real

  • @markyramone120 frickin lucky!!!!!! hes my inspiration for drumming and it kills me that i still havent seen them live yet!!!!!!!!! one of these days though

  • @stevo6009 They are amazing live... I thought I was gonna die... in the best way possible. I don't think I've ever moshed so hard in my life =DD

  • sebastian, you clearly don't know anything about music theory. just saying, sorry. can't let that kind of elitist idiocy go unnoticed.

  • @Kaittos DONT YOU KNOW HE USES A FUCKING METRONOME DIPSHIT? METRONOMES TEMPO DONT CHANGE. HE USES NOTE SIGNATURE CHANGE TO OVERLAP MEASURES AND COME BACK TO THE PREVIOUS SIGNATURE

  • @sebastianjwalker What the fuck is a note signature? I'm pretty sure it's called Time Signature.

  • @sebastianjwalker Hahahahaha. Oh man, this is classic. The tempo can change from one to the next as many times as the artist/composer wants in a song. And note signature? You mean time signature? Christ, I can't even make out your last sentence into a sensible argument. Which I'm sure it wasn't, so, oh well.

  • its called a click track. :P

  • Matt gave me a free shirt, drum lesson, and he let me watch them from back stage. ....always good to be friends with the drummer for ABR right. Got some backstage videos from the AP tour...comment and subscribe

  • I watched abr in salt lake. God FuckingDamn they are good live.

  • Matt Greiner is beyond amazing, it's not a lie to say he's probably the best Metal Core drummers around these days.

  • @timisyodaddylol def not the best out there, he's really technical though when it comes to breakdowns though

  • I watch this video alot, and it's fucking awesome, Matt Greiner is a sick drummer.

But everytime it pops up and says "yay big stage to run on" I crack up. Hahaha

  • metronome's are harder to play with than you think.

  • @Crashhead29 i agree, much easier to think wat ur doing without it than hav to focus on the metronone

  • hey that guy slapped matts va-china>:D

  • I just don't understand how...how is he capable of doing that? There are 5 or 6 tempo changes in song and he plays it all perfect.

Someone is mentioning a metronome. Could anyone please explain it to me how is he using that supposed metronome?

  • @cunjoz he's using whats called a click track. its an audio track on the ipod hes listening to that acts like a click metronome that changed with the tempo changes in the song. im also a drummer and im actually starting to do that now too

  • @yzad666

    Thx man..

  • It's just muscle memory. After two years of playing these songs, you just know where to land.

  • @cunjoz

Well first of all, he's just really really good. Second of all, he wrote the drums so of course he'll know when to hit what. Also, the metronome is most likely playing in his ear-peaces and changes as the song changes tempo.

  • @disturbedsixx

Thank you for your reply. I now see my question just as a retorical one xD

Matt is a most awsome drummer!!!

I wonder if he is hung up on some strings that hold his back so upstraight haha his posture is amazing

  • i love his use of ghost notes

  • haha i love wen heavy metal band wear bright colored shirts

  • @john1513jhh Its called Fashioncore

  • @sebastianjwalker even better!!!!!

  • Although Matt is a drum expert he is not only one that's playing perfect here. Whole band is perfect!!!

  • @cunjoz you DID realize that this was not the actual audio of the show right? I would hope that the title would have given you a clue...

  • @drummer4life2014

    is this important?

  • @cunjoz ummm yeah.... the way you put it.... it made it sound like you thought they played "perfect". Which I assume would mean that they played it exactly like the recorded song. In which case, would be definately understandable, considering that this is dubbed.

  • @drummer4life2014

I wanted to say that he is not the only awesome musician in the band but that all individuals and the band as a whole are simply awesome.

  • @cunjoz In that case, yes. I concur.

  • lol guys yea the tempo definitely does change there. mr. "bubbasock" is completely correct, that if the tempo went to cut time it would be exactly the same. as far as your click track situation, i've come across drummers who actually listen to the actual studio version of the song that has a click over it on their i-pod. when they record the song in the studio they record it in sections of different tempos, this is how they achieve the effect of seemless transitions with no tempo change

  • why the fuck would you want to use a cut time? it goes from 120bpm, straight to 216bp as soon as the 4 bar fill kicks in, then the ending that is the same as the intro is 2-4 bpm faster than the intro. jesus.

  • @TylerMatthewSonn very true you get up in front of a crowd and u wanna go a thousand miles an hour since ur adrenaline is going crazy playing with a metronome and using control is actually way more difficult. matt makes it look extremely easy tho lol

  • To people wondering how they know the tempo changes... It's a click track for each song that plays into their headphones they got on... Lots of bands do it, Adam Gray from Texas in July uses it for example. They make the click track to the tempo's and changes in the studio and then just export to MP3 and play on their ipod

  • awesome song

  • This is a tight performance. I dont like to play with metronome... But in the Studio I have to^^ Live I prefer to play without. It´s like condoms: With them its saver, but without them its more fun!

  • que coño importa el metronomo es una maquina hay que reconocerlo

  • the amazing thing is, they must all be playing to metronomes, they are a ridiculousy tight and talented, and personally as a drummer, Matt is what I aim for

  • @ascensionchurchbath The tempo changes at 37 secs so idk how they could play to a metronome during this song.

  • @bubbasock You know nothing about what you're talking about. The tempo never changes in any song ever. Listen again... tap your foot

  • @bigwillgreen hahaha. yes. I'm majoring in music performance and I don't know what I am talking about. "The tempo never changes in any song ever"? lmfao. Why don't you do some research. The tempo changes at 0:37 from around 120 bpm to around 200 bpm... Tap YOUR foot. it doesn't match.

Someone please back me up with some thumbs up.

  • @bubbasock your an idiot. The tempo NEVER changes. Its called cut time. The tempo didnt change from 120 bpm to 200 bpm. They just went into cut time. The tempo will never change. The only thing that will change is the time signature.

  • @DaviddddEO the tempo DID change regardless if you want to believe it or not! they can play to a metronome that speeds up or slows down, its not weird these days. it is fact that you can spot many tempo changes in ABRs music. watch them in the studio, geeezz

  • @Embracable true story they are the inovators of this style no doubt !

  • @DaviddddEO

I'm aware of what cut time is.

They didn't switch to it. If they did, the tempo would be exactly the same.

But it's not. It clearly gets considerably faster.

There isn't a fucking rule that the tempo of a song can never change.

Tempos change all the time. Often multiple times in one piece.

Learn a few things about music.

So I would say you're the idiot, not me, and I'm not even calling you one for pretending to know shit about music.

    It's for using "your" incorrectly.

  • @DaviddddEO

you're the idiot. it's barely close to half time, stop trying to act like you know what your talking about.

  • @DaviddddEO cut time means changing from 4/4 to 2/2, cut time is refering to the pulse of the measure changing to the half note instead of the quarter note, it has nothing to to do with tempo. if it did, taping your foot to 8th should match up the entire song, clearly it does not. bubbasock is absolutely right by saying the tempo speeds up a significant amount at 00:37. Good game fellas.

  • @skaterbobo17 taping your foot to 8th notes**

  • @bubbasock KKHGJHJHJHJJ

  • @bubbasock im in a band, and when you go to a studio you have to use a metronome, you have to get all your tempo's in one song sorted out before you record so your correct tempo's change all the time thats why when you change tempo's its called a transition. whoever said that is stupid.

  • @whiteweding1 THANK YOU! At least you're smart. If the tempo never changed in a song, there would be no need for a conductor in an orchestra!

  • @bubbasock The tempo doesn't change the note signature does. Learn something for fuck sake -.-

  • @sebastianjwalker NO IT DOESNT DUMB FUCK. ITS 4|4 THE WHOLE TIME. EXCEPT FOR ONE PART WHERE ITS LIKE 5|4. THE DAMN TEMPO CHANGES.

  • @theoriginalfatman It doesnt though xP He uses a metronome. How could he if the tempo changes? The tempo might be able to change on a metronome. But the thing is Matt just randomly switches to the tempo of a song. Not knowing what measure he is on

  • BUBBASOCK IS SO FUCKING WRONG STOP GIVING HIM THUMBS IT'S THE NOTE SIGNATURE THAT CHANGES NOT THE FUCKING TEMPO

  • @sebastianjwalker What the fuck is a note signature? Oh... I think you meant TIME signature. Well, it doesn't change. It's in 4/4 the entire song. The tempo changes. I'm not an idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @sebastianjwalker at 0:40 the tempo changes dumbass. And yes the TEMPO not the note signature. THE TEMPO! Get out a metronome and sync it with the intro and see if it holds up through the whole song...it wont.

  • @Binxes11 At 0:42 the tempo goes back xP I did use a metronome asshole

  • @bubbasock And yes, You dont know what you are talking about

  • @bubbasock It's called going from 4th notes then to 8th note triplets then 16notes then to 8th notes if you kind of listen

  • @sebastianjwalker your a fucking cockeater, august burns red does tons of tempo changes, yes in certain songs they do time sig changes, but in this song they do increase and decrease the tempo, go ahead and cut your ears off you fucking cunt

  • @sebastianjwalker Lol but that shit is unnecessarily complicated. It doesn't fit exactly no matter how you divide it. The tempo clearly changes lmao

  • @bubbasock ya Jb never did tempo changes in messengers because he thought they werent good enough but they were but in constilations he desided he is doing alot of tempo changes

  • @bubbasock Dude, Perfect. retards don't know what the fuck they're talking about

  • @bubbasock sorry to burst your bubble, but if you can't tell the song your HEARING is the studio version, unlike the video, tempos do not change when they make studio versions, unless if its meant to be. I am also majoring in music performance , as well as in a band

The tempo doesnt change , i tapped my foot all day long

    Sorry

  • @YoYoYiggedyYoO Have you had your foot checked?

  • @bubbasock I do use it a lot

    but truly you are wrong

are you saying that instead of playing quarted notes that he switched to 16th notes?

  • @YoYoYiggedyYoO lol no... why are you talking about note values all of the sudden? I said the tempo speeds up.

  • @bubbasock the tempo doesnt change is what im saying , it stays the same, yes the notes to become twice as fast but still the same tempo

  • @YoYoYiggedyYoO when you use the word "fast" you mean speed. You're trying to say that the tempo doesn't change, there are just twice as many notes per measure. When in reality, the tempo actually speeds up

  • @YoYoYiggedyYoO The tempo slows down, actually, my bad. Not drastically, but still. Clap your hands with the music and you'll notice that.

  • @bubbasock Yes there is a tempo change from the beggining to 0:50

    does get slightly slower

    yes

  • @YoYoYiggedyYoO lol just listen to the intro then the outro, the outro is actually slower
