  • iff only the vieuw was like freelancer you woudve had a freelancer 2 :( this game is awsome literly almost the same sounds brings back memory's

  • @LaurAgony Only capital ships fiere completly themselves. Frigates (M7), Korvets (M6) and some fighters (M3) have turents which take over some jobs but these three also have lasers which the player fires

  • dose the ship fire automaticaly like star wolves 3 ?im loking 4 a game that resembels it but mutch more complex and the terain mutch bigger...

  • @LaurAgony try nexus the jupiter incident, Space RTS ;)

  • OH

    MY

    GOD

  • I don't get why people keep saying that the DVD version doesn't run on Windows 7, I have a Win 7 64-Bit Toshiba Satellite laptop and the x3 Gold Edition DVD set and it installed for me with no issues whatsoever.

  • when i last played this game(i switched comps lately and lost my data) i had a lot of money, and a private fleet containing more than 100 capital ships. and i kicked ass.

  • Is this anything like Freelancer?

  • It is and much more.

  • Freelancer seems WAAAAY less complicated!!! X2 was insane...trading...fighting...1000 of buttons and controls. Nice game, but way too much. Is X3 easier to handle?

  • @AnselmoFanZero

    Freelancer is waaaaaaay to easy.

TC is easier for the casual gamer then the previous episodes.

  • Funny....a friend just told me you have WAY more buttons and controls than X2...even more complicated.

  • @AnselmoFanZero

Besides WASD for strafe, there are no new buttons (or I didn't notine).

  • See...I am more the arrow-buttons-guy you know ;-)

You couldnt even change the control settings..as far as I remember X2.

  • @AnselmoFanZero

AFAIK you could change them in X2 (it's 100% that you could change them in X3R and TC). TC has an option that allows you to control your ship a bit more "Freelancer-ishly". Anyway, you could play the game only using a mouse, WASD XY C T Enter and Arrow Keys, but IMO the true fun in X is it's complexity (and that's why I don't like TC - it lacks the complexity of the previous episodes in several aspects.) :)

  • May I suggest hoping and waiting for an english version of Cold Stars? It's not a "sanbox" universe, but easy to control and looks fun :)

  • @AnselmoFanZero it can be much easier. and some of the ships are awsome. some of the gameplay is fiddily, but once you get the hang of it its amazing.

  • Fiddely? I found X2 REAL complicated! Too many buttons....too many devices...trading extension this and that. More fights like in this vid would have ben cool. And all the gate-passing-travelling shit....eats hole lot of time...thats it. The SETA is useless when your ship does only 144.....

  • well in this ships are faster, and if you have the patience to earn a bucketload of money, you can upgrade engines and fit jump drives, so your fast and dont have to go through gates.

  • Just as in X2....but it got boring before it came to all this.

  • aw. pity. it is annoying, but if you keep going the rewards are epic beyond belief.

  • Dont get me wrong...I like trading and exploring, but the systems look all the same. Took days til I could buy a Nova and a Solar Power plant.

  • yeah, it does have some stuff you dont need. to be honest im not sure how i sat through getting the money to have all my stuff at the end.

  • Darkstar One was way too shooter-like...Freelancer as well, but not that bad. Both great games, but the trading element was missing. X2 was kinda weird, but I guess I will give X3 TC a chance.

  • if you get really pissed you can download the script editor to give you whatever you want

  • and be sure to NOT to buy the cd version if your running windows 7

  • Yep....Win7 64bit...CD version? You mean DVD......or what?

I am not a cheater ;-) No editor no cheats whatsoever.

  • yeah, i had one file with cheats, and one without. but i keep what i had in the cheat file to myself. if you have x3 on a disc(from the box, dvd, etc...) it doesnt work on win 7. you need to download off steam. its 19.99 euros at the moment.

  • Wait a second: If I buy X3 on DVD it wont work???

No matter which one I buy? R or TC?

  • unfortunatly no. its the only game i know that doesn't work on win 7. you have to download off steam. its the only version which works on win 7.

  • @SuperThatGame - I bought the Gold Edition and it works fine for me. It's a problem with the Vanilla I believe, so you need to have the latest patch installed probably, I had that issue with one of the demos, but the 2.5 demo worked perfectly fine for me.

  • I have a mate he's got the boxed DVD version and he runs this game just fine on Win7 so i don't know where you get that from. i myself have the Steam version.

  • well it might be a different version of win 7. i tried everything to get to work on mine. even a manual override. and every time it said "insufficient privelages"

  • It is like freelancer, game is based on freelancer, alot better graphic , better traders , more missions , everything !

  • @iLovePCxD

Based on Freelancer? lol. Freelancer was released in 2003, whilst the 1st X game was released back in 1999.

It is much more based on Elite (without planetary or interplanetary travel). But you're right: it has much more in it and more fun - if you can get into it, which is a bit hard, but worth it. Hell, I've been playing X3: Reunion for 4 years now, and still didn't get bored of it.

  • i hope, cause freelancer was fking awesome back years ago

  • is this worth paying 40$ for?

  • It's worth anything. So yes. BUt you might want to consider waiting for TC Aldrin missions, or the X3-Gold pack (X3R and TC).

  • A little correction here: it was developed together WITH the help of modders, and not BY modders. There's a difference between the two.

  • Do you think you could post the entire theme from this vid on your channel?

  • If this is one of the battle themes, I can't wait to get this game!

  • Sadly, it's not and there are no new battle themes at all.

  • That's too bad. Sometimes I think that Egosoft really needs to improve the audio component of its games. Bad English voices, good but scant and repetitive audio--what were they thinking?

And don't say "leave it to the modders." What would that say about Egosoft's commitment to making a quality product?

  • you can change the MP3 tracks for battles the ones that start 01 in the soundtrack folder are the battle themes, so just replace those 5 with any tunes you like

  • Sure I could, but I still find it disappointing that Egosoft couldn't take the time to compose new original tracks, despite saving a great deal of money by outsourcing lots of its work to modders.
