Beethoven: Fidelio (Finale) - Abbado, Kaufmann, Stemme, Mattei

Wonderful Finale! Peter Mattei' s and Jonas Kaufmann's voices are beautiful, and the chorus is great, too. I'm a little unhappy with Nina Stemme's voice. Too much unpleasant vibrato. Judging from the applause, it was evidently a great performance all around.

Questo è il miglior Fidelio che io abbia mai sentito. Dinamica, emozione, orchestra, coro, voci... Finale leggermente lento ma tutto per favorire la drammaticità dell'opera.

Abbado + Stemme + Kaufmann = IL FIDELIO DI BEETHOVEN.

Kaufmann the knödelbock had a really bad day (well, I hope and assume he doesn't sing like that all the time!) the horns were playing from another score and the "stage design" was a conceptual disaster - anybody that wrote positive about this (and some, to my horror, actully did) was on the orgniser's payroll ;) a happy man is a deaf man at a poorly performed concert! Just wondering if Fafner1976 is the fool who insists on screaming bravo at every innapropriate opportunity...

An awesome start for the Lucerne Festival 2010 (was there at this concert)...but the most awaited concert from Abbado is coming in 2 days with Mahler's 9th.
